Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

This must be what justice looks like, not vengeful, just peaceful exuberance.

Celebrate the fucking wins.

“Facilitate” is an active verb, not a weasel word.

Hot air and ill-informed banter

Tide comes in. Tide goes out. You can’t explain that.

Come on, media. you have one job. start doing it.

DeSantis transforming Florida into 1930s Germany with gators and theme parks.

“In the future, this lab will be a museum. do not touch it.”

Jesus watching the most hateful people claiming to be his followers

You cannot shame the shameless.

If you voted for Trump, you don’t get to speak about ethics, morals, or rule of law.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires.

Good lord, these people are nuts.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

“Perhaps I should have considered other options.” (head-desk)

The media handbook says “controversial” is the most negative description that can be used for a Republican.

The real work of an opposition party is to oppose.

Let me file that under fuck it.

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

The unpunished coup was a training exercise.

Peak wingnut was a lie.

Radicalized white males who support Trump are pitching a tent in the abyss.

Have a wonderful day and weekend; enjoy the pictures!

Today, pictures from valued commenter something fabulous.

Hey y’all! As the cupboard is bare, thought I’d share a few pix from a trip I took to Greece exactly a year ago, for my birthday. (It’s my birthday again! Or, will have been, by the time these post.) Was only there for a week of some friends’ much longer trip– they got to carry on to some island-hopping, which I missed. Even “just” Athens, Nafplio, and surrounding areas of interest were still quite a lot! Had a great time and hope to go back one day…

Entering Delphi

As you enter Delphi, there are so many things that are striking and moving– the handiwork of so many people, so long ago, still here for us

Delphi

This picture does not do justice to the scale– it’s quite overwhelming in person

Athens

For all the BJ animal peeps. This was just one of several times I got a snap of a cat lounging on a motorcycle or scooter like this, just chilling. Made me laugh every time.

Nafplio

Where there’s a will, graffiti will find a way…

Thank you so much something fabulous, do send us more when you can.

Travel safely everybody, and do share some stories in the comments, even if you’re joining the conversation late. Many folks confide that they go back and read old threads, one reason these are available on the Quick Links menu.

One again, to submit pictures: Use the Form or Send an Email

Pretty nice set of Grecian formula (heh) photography. The Cactus graffitti was pretty cute, too. Anyone who can tell us what’s carved on the big rock at Delphi, please do, that’s pretty interesting.

Plus the kitty on that scooter is cute, and the scooter is pretty cool too!

Thanks! It was a fun trip!

Weirdly, I am seeing this post from John’s Twitter feed on the right, but not via the home page itself! Anyone else get that issue? (Figures, on a day I finally de-lurk!)
