President Trump officially becomes a Florida Man https://t.co/HmB2KcHDPI

New York, New York. If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere… Trump can’t.
— Chuck Schumer (@SenSchumer) November 2, 2019
There is, ironically, nothing more New York than announcing that when you retire you're going to retire and move to Florida.
One in twelve people born in New York moves to Florida; one in twelve Floridians was born in New York. https://t.co/j70O2gtjP7
— Yoni Appelbaum (@YAppelbaum) October 31, 2019
Trump moving to Florida will probably gain Republicans 3-4 points in New York.
— Dana Houle (@DanaHoule) November 1, 2019
Does this have anything to do with the New York Attorney General’s interest in his tax returns? https://t.co/NMR7Xoopn2 via @NYTimes
— Renato Mariotti (@renato_mariotti) October 31, 2019
New York residents are probably delighted to be rid of him. Manhattan DA Vance, however, may be preparing a special farewell for him? https://t.co/DSJqCyKzpH
— John Dean (@JohnWDean) November 1, 2019
No personal income tax in Florida. Just saying. Much better if you have tax filing concerns.
— Liz Mair (@LizMair) November 1, 2019
People facing criminal or civil liability often relocate to Florida because state law exempts the primary residence from seizure in bankruptcy (without regard to the size or value of the primary residence) BUT — the debtor has to claim the property as the primary residence.

I think even the upper tiers of Florida Man are looking at the new arrival and muttering, “There goes the neighbourhood”.

I don’t much care where Trump lives, as long as it isn’t the White House for much longer.
(Yes, I’d like to see him behind bars but dare not get my hopes up. Out of the Presidency will suffice.)

He’s at least smart enough to realize that he can never show his ugly orange face in NY anymore anyway, so wothehell.

How nice that he’ll be able to spend his retirement among his own kind, getting high on bath salts, exposing himself in convenience stores, and inserting firearms into his rectum.
Mike in NC
This will make it easier for him to stage those hate rallies in Pensacola and Orlando, plus The Villages!

He’s not going to live in Florida. He’s going to live in NYC but claim Florida. As least, that’s what I suspect he’s going to try to do. I don’t know how aggressively NYC will go after him if he spends 183+ nights here in the Big Apple. If Cy Vance has anything to say about it, probably not very aggressively.

@Jay: There are some good candidates, progressive and competent, who are getting megabuck support from Amazon. I’m not fond of our Socialist’s approach to our corporate overlords. I don’t believe it’s effective to demonize them. They bite back and stymie good policy. It appears that some of the candidates who got Amazon bucks will lose because of the ridiculous amount of money. It has tarnished their integrity.
Bill Arnold
Prolly an arrangement with Ron DeSantis – no extradition to New York in return for not releasing embarrassing details about election fraud in certain recent statewide elections. Secession an option if necessary. Russians involved?

@Jay: All anyone has to do is surf towards The Stranger voting guide. The Stranger has been very influential. They interview the candidates. and they base their pick on that basis. They’ve been doing it for a long time. Sometimes I don’t take their advice, but not very often. If you want, they have a cheat sheet all set up

Regarding the cartoon, the FLA Manatees see the Daily Manatee front page with Trump moving into their state, and need to register to vote! I just don’t see what’s not to get about that simple obvious take. Even the underwater mammals will vote against Trump.
Regarding the Civil Rights Memorial, racists never give up their hate, it’s all they have. No brains or education, no courage, no common sense, just full of irrational hate based upon race, or religion, or community background, or wild nonsense that doesn’t even make a coherent argument….

So if Trump retires to his resort in Florida, and whiles away his days playing golf, are we taxpayers still going to be paying for Secret Service golf cart rentals and other fees that will go into Trump’s pockets?
Jim, Foolish Literalist
@Ohio Mom: god, I hadn’t even thought of that

Exciting times! Twitler is now claiming that Adam Schiff is going to ‘change’ the transcripts. Not sure whether he means of Twitler’s phone call(s), or of witnesses’ depositions, or what. But that’s now the new line of defense for this most innocent man.
Jeffro
@Jim, Foolish Literalist: an idiot son defending a corrupt father is SO on-brand for a trumpov…
chris
@Jeffro: Just means he’s going to put out his own “perfect” transcripts. It’s always projection.
Jeffro
@J R in WV: I agree with all of that, especially ‘wild nonsense’.
It is hard to fathom the mind that takes offense at a memorial to a person who was beaten and killed. What exactly are they gathering there to protest/get wound up about/use as their inspiration? “This here memorial…to a person who was beaten and killed just because of who he was…grrrrrr!”
Actually, I understand it just fine: monuments – or even just historical markers – to murdered black people undermine the concept of white supremacy in a big way. Perhaps instead of just a security camera and alarm, the marker needs a minefield around it or something. Mines that are only activated by low IQs, perhaps?
Jim, Foolish Literalist
trump went to an MMA match (or whatever they call them) at Madison Square Garden tonight
Jeffro
@chris: The projection would be him ”editing” the transcripts to make an opponent look bad/criminal. That’s why his lizard brain is all spun up about it and has seized on it as something to put out to his cult. It’s literally the first thing that sprung into his mind.
He’s already tried to make this into the ‘perfect’ call. It didn’t work. That’s why he’s still (STILL!) trying to throw off chaff and ask where the whistleblower is, etc etc. IT DOESN’T MATTER, trumpov, YOU CONFIRMED THE WHISTLEBLOWER’S ACCOUNT 10x OVER ALREADY!

@zhena gogolia: WTF happened? It’s a rare day when I don’t go through the threads on here, but it seems something blew up badly in a short bit of space. I’ve seen a couple other commenters asking the same thing & not seeing any answers. I deeply appreciate all the front pagers. Cheryl and Adam have very specific insights that just can’t be found anywhere else; even though they sometimes disagree, the back and forth in itself is instructive. We can’t afford to lose anybody.
Dammit.

There’s already a Boca Raton in Florida. Maybe we can get up enough signatures to rename the immediate area where Dolt 45 settles Culo Raton.

@Jeffro: Projection: “Accusation is confession.” Orangecandyass (or more likely one of his evil minions who’s reasonably competent, like Stephern “Reinhard Heydrich Mini-Me” Miller or Bill “Disbar Me” Barr) will order some neofascist tech weenie to alter the tapes & destroy the originals.
Jeffro
@Uncle Cosmo: He’ll try...
Ben Cisco
@Just One More Canuck: Screw that – there’s enough idiots in my state. Florida can keep him.

@Nicole: It’s actually the state of Florida that verifies the claims residency. I have several friends and know others who changed their registries from Illinois to Florida. And somehow they need to prove to Florida officials that they are indeed living in their Florida homes.
Fun comes in with couples who claim Florida residency and only one of them actually wants to live there…
