Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Usually wrong but never in doubt

Nothing worth doing is easy.

Peak wingnut was a lie.

Let’s finish the job.

Putting aside our relentless self-interest because the moral imperative is crystal clear.

The republican caucus is already covering themselves with something, and it’s not glory.

Republicans seem to think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.

We are aware of all internet traditions.

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

Russian mouthpiece, go fuck yourself.

… riddled with inexplicable and elementary errors of law and fact

We still have time to mess this up!

The GOP is a fucking disgrace.

This blog will pay for itself.

Black Jesus loves a paper trail.

Thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

Authoritarian republicans are opposed to freedom for the rest of us.

If you’re pissed about Biden’s speech, he was talking about you.

Prediction: the GOP will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

President Trump officially becomes a Florida Man https://t.co/HmB2KcHDPI

— Vera Bergengruen (@VeraMBergen) November 1, 2019

New York, New York. If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere… Trump can’t.

— Chuck Schumer (@SenSchumer) November 2, 2019

There is, ironically, nothing more New York than announcing that when you retire you're going to retire and move to Florida.

One in twelve people born in New York moves to Florida; one in twelve Floridians was born in New York. https://t.co/j70O2gtjP7

— Yoni Appelbaum (@YAppelbaum) October 31, 2019

Trump moving to Florida will probably gain Republicans 3-4 points in New York.

— Dana Houle (@DanaHoule) November 1, 2019

Does this have anything to do with the New York Attorney General’s interest in his tax returns? https://t.co/NMR7Xoopn2 via @NYTimes

— Renato Mariotti (@renato_mariotti) October 31, 2019

New York residents are probably delighted to be rid of him. Manhattan DA Vance, however, may be preparing a special farewell for him? https://t.co/DSJqCyKzpH

— John Dean (@JohnWDean) November 1, 2019

No personal income tax in Florida. Just saying. Much better if you have tax filing concerns.

— Liz Mair (@LizMair) November 1, 2019

People facing criminal or civil liability often relocate to Florida because state law exempts the primary residence from seizure in bankruptcy (without regard to the size or value of the primary residence) BUT — the debtor has to claim the property as the primary residence.

Pence is done. Now NY resident Ivanka can be her dad’s running mate pic.twitter.com/9kVtEZcY2t

Yet https://t.co/b469KC2OCA

— Rick Wilson (@TheRickWilson) November 1, 2019

I think even the upper tiers of Florida Man are looking at the new arrival and muttering, “There goes the neighbourhood”.

I don’t know how aggressively NYC will go after him if he spends 183+ nights here in the Big Apple. If Cy Vance has anything to say about it, probably not very aggressively.

Regarding the cartoon, the FLA Manatees see the Daily Manatee front page with Trump moving into their state, and need to register to vote! I just don’t see what’s not to get about that simple obvious take. Even the underwater mammals will vote against Trump.

Regarding the Civil Rights Memorial, racists never give up their hate, it’s all they have. No brains or education, no courage, no common sense, just full of irrational hate based upon race, or religion, or community background, or wild nonsense that doesn’t even make a coherent argument….

The younger Trump defends his father throughout the book, including pushing back a number of times on charges that the president is racist. He said when he was a kid, Michael Jackson lived in Trump Tower and came over to play video games with him and Eric.
“Oh, and by the way, given all the things my father has been called, particularly a ‘racist,’ it sure sounds odd that he’d let his son vacation with a black man or hang out with Michael Jackson, doesn’t it? If he’s a racist, he’s sure not very good at it.”

It is hard to fathom the mind that takes offense at a memorial to a person who was beaten and killed. What exactly are they gathering there to protest/get wound up about/use as their inspiration? “This here memorial…to a person who was beaten and killed just because of who he was…grrrrrr!”

Actually, I understand it just fine: monuments – or even just historical markers – to murdered black people undermine the concept of white supremacy in a big way. Perhaps instead of just a security camera and alarm, the marker needs a minefield around it or something. Mines that are only activated by low IQs, perhaps?
