    The diamond coronavirus mask reminds me of the Neimann-Marcus Christmas catalog (my mother used to buy a tin of popcorn from them every year, just so they’d send the catalog). They always had a model train for sale, for people who need to be taxed more. One year it was a working HO scale train, but with a gold track and three hopper cars filled with diamonds, rubies, and emeralds.

    @Steeplejack:  I learned proper hand-washing routine from a young chinese woman that has a youtube channel called Summer Kitchen. She is urban, rather than countryside, so she goes grocery shopping and in one of the episodes she came home and said “I have to wash my hands now” and the camera man filmed over her shoulder as she did. It’ exactly that routine without the cute dance moves.

    @Ken: I remember that Neiman-Marcus model train! I have always wished I had saved the page with the photo.

    It was an N-scale train. The engine and cars were 18K gold, and they were all studded with diamonds. The coal tender was filled with loose diamonds, and the three hopper cars were filled, respectively, with loose rubies, sapphires, and emeralds. There was also a diamond-studded caboose. I think the price was just over a million dollars.

    And yes, it was a working train.

    It’s probably just us Westcoasters still up but I am having some idle thoughts and musings about this whole affair.

    First, I haven’t felt this hopeful for the country and the world in a long time.

    Second, I don’t think this is the big one. What we are witnessing is the execution of a coordinated plan against Donald and the klandemic of traitors with Suckergate being the opening salvo.

    If I am right with my hunch, this was to lay open his character, his moral rot, to show the country this guy is capable of anything. Best thing about all of it is everyone knows it’s the truth.

    We are going to see more stuff. There is blood in the water and a lot of folks who were afraid of him are no longer. I think we will see the courts move faster, too.

    If I were a betting man, I’d wager that corruption will be the key. His broke finances, him being a moneylaundering conman, indebted to the Russian mob.

    This will take down Barr too and would explain why we haven’t seen direct action against him so far. Fat boy must be sweating bullets by now.

    The wingers have used “the troops” as shield to kill every and any discussion but sent soldiers to die in wars of choice without body armor. It’s not only Trump’s fake facade that’s off but theirs too it seems. Maybe I am wrong but this has the vibe of a watershed moment.

    Face hugger mask looks like it could be effective in deflecting aerosol exhalations out of breathing zones. Rendering it in a computational fluid dynamic model to evaluate it would be challenging. Looks like it would be a chore to clean after use, too.

    Locally, there is a mask campaign, Masks Up, Covid Down, with area people holding up signs why they are wearing masks such as “I love my grandma”, “I care about my community”. My favorite was a doctor with sign, “First: Do No Harm” which I thought would be great message on a mask.
