Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The lights are all blinking red.

Fear or fury? The choice is ours.

All hail the time of the bunny!

Nothing says ‘pro-life’ like letting children go hungry.

Stay strong, because they are weak.

I like political parties that aren’t owned by foreign adversaries.

People are complicated. Love is not.

Optimism opens the door to great things.

Impressively dumb. Congratulations.

Fight them, without becoming them!

Also, are you sure you want people to rate your comments?

Proof that we need a blogger ethics panel.

One way or another, he’s a liar.

Stamping your little feets and demanding that they see how important you are? Not working anymore.

At some point, the ability to learn is a factor of character, not IQ.

Today’s gop: why go just far enough when too far is right there?

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

“A king is only a king if we bow down.” – Rev. William Barber

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires.

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

Usually wrong but never in doubt

We still have time to mess this up!

Books are my comfort food!

To be fair, I have also considered the latent possibilities in throwing objects from the higher level of the Guggenheim ramp. But I was a small child then, with a limited attention span for the artwork on display…

come to my ominous plane-falling-out-of-the-sky display at the Sackler-Epstein art museum. I'm calling it a guerilla action- yes I bought an entry ticket, why do you ask

— self diagnosed Havana Syndrome (@MenshevikM) March 8, 2022

Bipartisan silliness. Again, since I started reading sf short stories as a small child, it was obvious that the only state worse than dying in a nuclear war would be surviving one:

Better hope yah can run a full sized truck on black powder amirite

It dawned on me the other day that if he did succeed in nutting out(*), his first target is likely to be … Ukraine.

    * I persist in the naive hope that he’s been the My Little MADbox version of the Russian nuclear football.

Why Florida? Is Putin trying to turn liberals to his side? Won’t work.

@Baud: There was some speculation that he was trying to scare Trump. But none of these war heads are headed for South Florida (maybe another batch). They are all headed at me. Looks like everything is taken out on the gulf coast down to around Venice and Tampa is toast. One of them seems aimed right at Winston though. A small blue dot in a red (Polk) county.

@Winston: And what could Putin’s orange failure bitch do about incoming nuclear missiles?  Call them a total loser on his BitchassLoser “social platform” and then wait for Russkiy bots to never show up?

    @mrmoshpotato: Please don’t kill me Mr. P?

When this first came out in 2018 it scared the shit out of me. When someone shows you what they want to do, you should believe them. So this MF has shown us first strike. Our strategy should take this into account, and I know no one wants to do first strike against Putin, but if he took out the USA then NATO does what?

    Meanwhile, in other comedic stylings,

Without comment, judge denies request from Manafort banker Steve Calk to take family on Caribbean cruise this summer. Calk faces yearlong prison sentence on bribery charges.

What could I say that the judge hasn’t?

@prostratedragon: Well we do have the ability to massively retaliate. Not that it would be very satisfying to the 10 million people in central Florida and the 100s of millions elsewhere. The MF has more than 9 warheads.

I have only said that the only way we can minimize the damage to the USA is to strike first. That has been war gamed out many times. Putrid knows that  too.

When I was in Jr High School in Tucson, Az. circa 1960, early cold war, the government started building missile silos around the area with nukes for counter/first strike.  Everyone was invited to attend meetings to understand what it meant if a first strike from the USSR was launched to take out the sites. Turned out that a square 1/4 mile area of the town would not be obliterated. That’s kind of stuck with me over the years

@Winston: Thing about it was, that if USSR launched first, our missiles would likely be able to launch before the Russians hit us. We could be assured that they would pay, but that 1/4 square mile would likely survive for a while. The bummer for me was we didn’t live in that 1/4 square mile.

@prostratedragon: Watch The Day After and you will see how it is done.

According to the wikipedia entry this is what the result was of the film being watched by Ronny Raygun and the JCOS:

In 1987, Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev signed the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, which resulted in the banning and reducing of their nuclear arsenal. In Reagan’s memoirs, he drew a direct line from the film to the signing.

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Day_After

Guess who opted out of that treaty after he was elected and guess who opted out right after he did…

@Geo Wilcox: Funny how that show isn’t available to view on any streaming service I subscribe to. Oh Amazon has it for $52.00. But I watched a few times and remember it well. I used to live about 5 miles from one of the missile silos in Missouri.

Asha Rangappa – former FBI agent – has been tweeting / asking for someone like editors at CNN make a refresher course for the 1st Trump Ukraine impeachment, since many Americans just didn’t know or care to follow along.

Someone just posted the the Ukraine Impeachment Refresher – cut down to 1 hour on YouTube that seems to be pretty good. This 1 hour dealie is good & coherent for me, someone who’d followed the whole 1st impeachment live. Hopefully it’s good for others who don’t know much about it. youtube.com/watch?v=MS5GRdNrfvs&t=2s

All of a sudden the concept of a No Fly Zone has morphed from a rough and tumble war zone where not too many enemy airplanes get through, into a magical space where there are no guns at all and pretty flowers bloom and the air smells nice. The fact is that Ukraine has some planes and pilots, and they fight back against the Russians, and some bombers get through anyway and bomb children hospitals. You could have more fighter jets in the air, and fewer bombers would get through, but some bombers would get through anyway, and some children and moms would get killed. The rest of the NFZ concept requires attacking SAM sites in Russia, so it would amount to declaring war on Russia. Which the US does not want to do.

You have said this. It is false – the USA would be destroyed, and worldwide, upwards of a billion humans would die, mostly through starvation, and civilization might collapse, killing a lot more. (Take a very deep and critical look at yourself.)
