Huge victory today for empty measures as Congress passes a bill to have Marshals do what they already do for SCOTUS Justices while Senate Republicans still block a bill addressing lower court judges' security after a judge's son was killed at their home. https://t.co/3dHfR1xZp6

The bill that passed the Senate is fake, a trivial wording change describing what Marshals already do.
And there's not one word here about how Republicans are blocking a Democratic bill to genuinely improve the security of federal judges after a judge's son was killed at home. https://t.co/GLokenJ2La pic.twitter.com/I644Nxi5RU

“Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect…”
Ahhhhh! Now it all makes sense. They specifically want to make sure that *staff* are not protected because they think they should have to be scared if the name of the leaker gets out? Fascinating stuff! https://t.co/L9Q5cF77N0

Wow. “Mockery.” Such an insult to more diligent public servants.
Citizen Alan
There are pedophiles and serial killers in this country who are far better people than Mitch mcconnell.
* Note. That should not be taken to mean that Mitch mcconnell is neither a pedophile nor a serial killer who just never got caught. I certainly wouldn’t put it past him.

I was so disheartened to see the Warnock and Walker were tied. I’m not sure this will change minds, but apparently Walker has a ten year old son, he doesn’t see.

Here are some of the many, many, many remarks Herschel Walker has made about being a father. To Diamond and Silk in 2020: If you have “a child with a woman, even if you have to leave that woman… you don’t leave the child.”

Hey, at least it’s an ethos!

Personally I’m more worried about our schoolchildren.
We’ve got a system for replacing Supreme Court justices.
James E Powell
@JPL:
As we have seen elsewhere, nothing negative about Walker will deter Rs from voting for him. They won’t do it because they like him, they’ll do it because they hate the rest of us.
Captain C
@Citizen Alan:
There are some rumors about that he likes ’em scandalously young, though I don’t know how reliable they are. As to the serial killing, he’s found a way to do it and not get blamed for it (what with all his actions in the Senate), so I’m calling yes on that one.
JPL
@James E Powell: Sad but true.

I was disheartened to see a Facebook post by a semi-relative Republican trashing Liz Cheney’s work on the 1/6 Committee. I had hoped she would have had a bit of an open mind. So many seem to have really gone to the dark side.

Jesus. Walker should be down in the dumps with Christine O’Donnell, Roy Moore and the pay-your-doctor-with-a-chicken lady

Maybe Republicans in Georgia base their votes purely on id, to use an old-fashioned psychological term. “I felt good watching Walker play football. That’s worth my vote.” See also voting for Trump.

@RSA: Im sticking with a simple explanation…they are scum
Deputinize Eurasia from the Kuriles to St Petersburg
@Citizen Alan:
Back in the days when I called him a “Howdy Doody looking motherfucker” to his face (he was county executive), his pederasty and fondness for chicken were well-known among Louisville Republicans (and some Democrats).
His police driver took photos.

I work in customer service, and many days I think I hate people as much as is possible to do. Then I see things the GOP does and I realize I will never hate people as much as they do.
Geminid
@Deputinize Eurasia from the Kuriles to St Petersburg: Democrats in the Kentucky 3rd CD have to find a replacement for the excellent John Yarmuth. How are they doing?
Leto
@JPL: he also lied about 1) graduating college and 2) being in the top 1% of graduating. I mean, he’s been caught in numerous lies and they just don’t care. I don’t know what to do about it. They take pride in their lies, no matter how small/petty/easily dis-proven. That’s been there MO for years now.
Winston
This has been batting around the internet today
eta, I am pro choice and not against sex workers, but..

@Jim, Foolish Literalist: while it is possible that Georgia will vote in its Mo Brooks equivalent next November, I happen to believe that Warnock will eke out the win. He’s been behind Walker in polling all along. He is an appealing, likeable and intelligent candidate. His new TV ad is a great tongue~in~cheek takedown of Walker and executed with great but kindly humor.
Redshift
I think Chris Hayes is underplaying it a bit. It’s certainly true that McConnell and company are sure their conspiracy theory about the leaker being a liberal is true and they want that person to be afraid. But beyond that, McConnell is saying outright that the only reason Dems want to add protection for staff is to “send a message” in support of the leaker, and not because a family member of a judge was shot.
They’re the party of trolls now, and have convinced themselves that everyone else is too.
Scout211
And in New Mexico, the GOP-led election commission in Otero County refuses to certify the results in the primary election because they just don’t trust those those Dominion voting machines that stole Trump’s election.

Bit OT but Alexei Navalny has vanished inside the Russian prison system. His lawyer visited him at the IK-2 colony located around 60 miles east of Moscow, and was told “there is no such convict.”

@Winston:
See my remark at #6, above.

@James E Powell: Republican ceetainly seem to be falling behind Walker, but I wonder if there are are enough Republicans in Georgia to elect Walker. I think he’ll have to attract a good number of Independents to beat Warnock.
Goku (aka Amerikan Baka)
@Leto:
It’s possible he was transferred to a max security prison, which is being reported in the news. We’ll have to see

@Winston: Boebert’s Twitter feed is very lively tonight. She gave the escort story “Four Pinnochios,” and that really got people going. One critic “wondered” what Boebert’s escort name was, and that started a kind of contest. People came up with some funny ones.

@Geminid:
I remembered her husband as having waved his willie at two minor girls at a local bowling alley, and the state fair was where they knowingly served spoiled food from their restaurant to the public, but I’m open to those with better information
Geminid
@Jim, Foolish Literalist: You are right about the husband and the bowling alley. Boebert’s salmonella sliders poisoned people at a local event, though. The state fair is where she got a misdemeanor charge when she obstructed officers trying to detain a couple juveniles who were drinking.
