I am still getting a ton of pictures of pets, so I am just going to put a few up every now and then. It would take four years to get all these up if I just posted them on Friday. By all means, keep sending them in, but please name them after the pet to make it easier. At any rate, some goofy pictures:
You have heard of the cat in a hat, now try out the cat as a hat.
Blue is relaxing. I have a bunch of pictures of Tunch sitting like this, but they are all old. I need to get a new camera.

John, you do realize that old cameras can take new pictures, right?
(I should note that I convinced someone in college that black and white TVs could only pick up old TV shows by only turning it on to I Love Lucy when she was around.)
Phoebe
I love it when cats get undignified. It’s the best.
I also miss my old camera, the Sony Cybershot, which someone dropped in the mud. I still have it. Sometimes I just look at it and miss the old times. My new Kodak camera sucks sucks sucks.

That’s a nice picture of Rich Lowry in the second spot. Why do you call him "Blue", though?
I HAZ STARBURSTZ?
NOO!! SOMEONE TOOK MAH STARBURSTZ!

@Martin: My old camera is broken. It doesn’t take any pictures whatsoever.

I think we can refer to that as the "Jonah Goldberg" position.
Comrade Mary, Would-Be Minion Of Bad Horse
Now I feel bad.
Blue, you have my abject apologies for comparing you to Lowry. And, if my eyes don’t deceive me, I can see cream mixed with the blue tabby stripes, which would make you a tortoiseshell tabby and, more than likely, a girl. My very, very bad.
Just Some Fuckhead
I have a Sony and I hate it. No viewfinder so I can’t take pics out in bright sun and everything is proprietary so I can’t just use, for instance, regular double-As when the battery pack goes like I could with my old camera. And ya gotta hold it real still when ya take a pic or the pic is blurry. And the memory stick won’t work in any of my other devices.
I hate Sony. I got it as a Christmas present from someone who ignored my repeated requests to NOT get me a new camera when my other one broke, because someone isn’t detail-oriented enough to make good electronics purchases. It’s still a sore subject ’round here.

the Canon PowerShots are pretty sweet.
i had an old Sony CyberShot P9 that was really good (made a decent digital audio recorder, too). then the battery died and i didn’t want to spend $60 to replace it. so now i have a Canon SD630, which is really quite nice. the newer Canons digi’s have image stabilization… which i covet.
i really want a Nikon D80, to replace my D100. but with the specter of outsourcing/offshoring stalking the aisles in my office these days, it’s best if i wait…

@cleek: My dead camera is a Canon Powershot s400. I loved it.
Any suggestions on a new one that is durable, easy to use, takes great pics, and is the right price?

I have a Canon Rebel XT DSLR. bought it for 400 bucks new with a Sigma 70 300 APO zoom macro for 170 $. The best low cost combo around IMHO. Highly versatile, and takes GREAT pics.
Phoebe
Fuckhead you just have a bad Sony! Mine had a viewfinder, took rechargable AAs, or regular if I had to use those, and was just… what’s the point. It’s dead.
But this Canon PowerShot you speak of, cleek, maybe I will have to investigate that. Maybe it’s time to get out of these widow’s weeds. I don’t even want to talk about the Kodak. That was a rebound, and, well, "attention to detail" was not had.

I am thrilled with my Canon Powershot SD 950is 12MP camera. I am going to Africa for 3 weeks in November and got it for that trip but have also enjoyed it on my trips to NYC. It’s got a viewfinder and LCD screen and great battery life.
I have some photos taken by it on my flickr page: Flickr.com

Looks like the Power Shot is a popular camera. I have the SD800 – love it. I highly recommend it.
The cat I had before Pati used to sleep on my head – that picture cracks me up!

After way too much review reading and going into total overwhelm with terms I can’t define, I am on the verge of getting the Canon Powershot SD870 IS
Here’s a very lengthy review
I’ve been using a dinosaur Olympus D-500L that I bought used on eBay in like 1999. Also.

I have a Canon Powershot A560 (7.1MP, 4X optical zoom), purchased at Newegg.com for $129. I love it. I was a camera nut back in the day of 35mm until my gadge bag weighed as much as a small child. It hit me that I wasn’t having fun anymore and I sold everything and stopped taking pictures.
I bought the Canon to take snaps. Yes, it’s fun. I would recommend Canon and I would suggest Newegg for shopping.

The cat on the bottom of that post is watching the Biden Palin debate and is saying – "I can’t believe Palin is THAT stupid! Does she think she’s a dog?"

@John Cole:
I’ve got a couple of PowerShot cameras and I like them both a lot. I’ve got an A460 that I picked up for about $100 on Amazon, and an S3-IS with a 12x zoom that’s great for when I go eagle watching at Lake Pepin. For casual use I tend to carry the 460 because it’s smaller and has a built-in lens cap (the S3’s lens cap is a hassle).
I bought these two cameras when my A85 got stolen in a house break-in. But then it turned up at a pawn shop so I got it back a month later. The pawn shops in St. Paul have to send a list of EVERYthing they buy (including serial #s) to the police daily.
I tend to like cameras with 4 AA batteries because I use them out in the field for work so often. I want to be able to take a lot of pictures before the power fades, and I want to be able to get batteries for it at any store if I’m not near the recharger.

So many cats.

@1: My friend, that’s not Jabba The Cat. That title belongs to fat sphynx-breed cats like Bounty.
@John: I recommend used Canon "Rebel-series" DSRL (XTi or such, $400) and Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens ($100) for quality portraits for affordable price, though Powershots are fine, too.

OT but relating to critters:
I just had the shit scared out of myself. I am sitting here in my garage having a cigarette and browsing around online. It is a warm rainy night so I have the garage door cracked open a few inches. So here I am reading away and I hear a noise down by my feet. I thought it was Mama Cat but when I looked down I saw it was not Mama Cat. Same black and white colors though.
It was a damned skunk. Just to my left side and a bit in front of me, less than three feet away and with its ass end pointing directly at me, just nosing around like it’s no big deal. I just about shit bricks. I quickly got the hell away from the skunk but it just ignored me and kept nosing around. I went out the garage door and went back through the front door of the house because the door between the garage and the house was open and the skunk was between me and the door and heading towards the house.
Sure enough, the skunk was just nosing around the door to the house so I grabbed an empty milk jug and tossed it near the door. The skunk headed back out to the garage and I closed the door and went back outside. It must have fled the garage because it wasn’t in it. Believe me, I searched it high and low!
I left the garage door cracked open just in case, and I am sitting here with a loud fan running to discourage it coming back. I will close the door when I feel safe that it is not around.
Talk about a f’ing close call! I didn’t even smell the thing and it was right next to me. Not something that I want to repeat any time soon, that’s for damn sure.

Blue is a blue-silver McTabby…he’s also a scottish fold without the folded ears. He’s a 17 lbs of boy, so don’t feel bad!
