Text from McCain Robo-calls
“You need to know that Barack Obama has worked closely with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, whose organization bombed the U.S. Capitol, the Pentagon, a judge’s home, and killed Americans,” a McCain robo-caller tells voters. And Democrats will enact an extreme leftist agenda if they take control of Washington. Barack Obama and his Democratic allies lack the judgment to lead our country.”
“I’m calling on behalf of John McCain and the RNC because you need to know that Barack Obama and his Democrat allies in the Illinois Senate opposed a bill requiring doctors to care for babies born alive after surviving attempted abortions — a position at odds even with John Kerry and Hillary Clinton. Barack Obama and his liberal Democrats are too extreme for America. Please vote — vote for the candidates who share our values.”
Effect:
John McCain’s respectful campaign.
Keep that in mind the next few weeks while you read right-wing blogs complain about the media treatment of Joe the Plumber, who was thrust onto the national stage by McCain. The “I am Joe” campaign may be the lamest thing, ever.

I posted this on the last thread but will post it again here since it’s relevant:

I can’t even begin to imagine the shenanigans they are going to try pulling between the election and inauguration. What ridiculous lawsuits will be filed? What insane controversies will they froth over? How much more crazy will they be than the PUMAs?
National Unity My Ass! NUMA!

I couldn’t agree more. People warned me it would be an ugly campaign and I nodded my head, but this is really turning my stomach. The one ray of light is that it’s gotten so bad, even a few Republicans have gotten disgusted enough to say so publicly. Via TPM:

The next 8 years are gonna be wonderful as the batshit insane, head-trauma crazy wingnuts do everything they can to tear down an Obama presidency. We’ll look back on the Clinton years and say "oh, that wasn’t so bad".
Ugh.

Obama drew over 100K people in St. Louis today.
McBush couldn’t draw that many if he were paying them to show up.

Pass this around to all of your right-wing friends who go on and on about Ayers.

The Secret Service needs to staff-up starting now.

@PeakVT:
The Secret Service has never, ever, forgotten November 1963, August 1968, or March, 1981. They’ve been on this watch for a long time, and they take it very seriously.
They started staffing up way back when.

Far Left American Hater Incertus
It’s like Stewart said when comparing McCain’s campaign to Frankenstein’s monster–it’s all cool until the minster starts tearing shit up. Then you start looking for the off switch. Only these fucknecks aren’t looking for the off switch–they want to burn the village down and rule over the ashes.

I say that before Nov. 1st Camp McPOW will take the old "They Want 2 Kill Us" ad and replace shots of the terrist training camps and Osama BL with shots of Democratic rallies and Obama respectively.

Listen to these morons drone on about gay marriage. Here’s a tip, Republicans… If gays are threatening your marriage, it might be time to re-evaluate your marriage.
Also, if you are dumb enough to believe baseless accusations that your political opponents have a hidden, anti-American agenda, you’re far too stupid to find real terrorists.
It’s time to let the grown-ups run the country for a while. The GOP is fiscally and morally bankrupting this country.
demimondian
Nah — they’re more sophisticated about the intertubes than *that*.
They’ll use LOL-cats. "Osama iz in ur country//workin’ for the terrists" next to a picture of BHO. Photoshopped pictures of DFH’s with crude signs that say "Free the GITMO three hundred!" "Democratic-sponsored" T-shirts with the Che Guevara image replaced with William Ayers.
After all, they are fully aware of all Internet Traditions(R).
Comrade Nikolita
I just watched a clip of Palin saying Obama’s plans to "redistribute the wealth" were socialism.
I can’t remember if I’ve asked this here before or not, and if I have, I’m sorry for repeating myself. But I’m honestly curious, what’s wrong with socialism?
~
As for the video, I can’t watch. I’ve seen some of those clips and they make me sad, angry and disgusted at the same time. I can’t believe there’s people who honestly believe the bullshit the McCain campaign is spewing.
Some Farker was saying a couple of weeks ago that Democrats were "overreacting" to Palin’s mistakes and things like the Troopergate scandal, and I totally went off on him/her. I’m sick of lies and BS that anyone with half a brain can see through.

The fact that you would dare, DARE, compare Hillary and Palin proves that you’re not a real Hillary partisan – the comparison is grossly, grossly unfair to Hillary. She actually has accomplishments, and is smart.
Palin is a fraud, and if you can’t see, you’re a disgusting sexist who thinks all women candidates are equivalent.

i’m with another commentor: what’s so bad about "socialism??????’
it’s not like the last month has been capitalism’s finest hour….
off topic… [where’s on open thread when you need one?]….
this is hidden deep in a gushing, hallucinatory piece by Fred Barnes from the weekly standard about how fantastic palin is….
now, wtf? right? barnes is reporting that palin NEEDED PROMPTING to answer a "yes/no" question……
and he describes her as "smart."
the mind reels….
Church Lady
The way I look at it, the usual crowd at any political rally is vehemently partisan. And that is on both sides of the aisle. The way these people acted is certainly shameful, but you have to wonder what is on the tape that is edited out. What could have been said, or done, to elicit these type of responses? I have a hard time believing these crazy people are just mindlessly shouting this stuff out – something was probably said or done to provoke them. However, that does not excuse them for the over the top things that they say.
The New Republic has a video on their site of the response of some Upper West Side New Yorkers to a group of McCain supporters at a street fair. Boy, the one fingered salute sure is popular. Once again, the editing is choppy and you have to wonder what might have been left out to provoke the response you see.
I think the lesson for all is to take these videos with a grain of salt and to recognize that there is ugly partisanship all around and exhibiting that ugliness does not reflect well on either those acting in such a reprehensible manner or the candidates they purport to support.
Comrade Jake
I just can’t believe that 100,000 terrorist sympathizers/baby killers/socialists turned up in St. Louis, St. Louis I say, to listen to Obama speak today. What the hell is wrong with this country? MyIQ2XU – surely your genius brain must know the answer, no?
jrg the america hating plumber
Nonsense. myiq2xu is a visionary and a genius. A blog is an angry mob if people reading in their homes. Scary shit.
Just Some Fuckhead
As disgusting as the Obama-Ayers-Terrorist-Bombing calls are, as long as that line of attack continues to cause McCain to drop like a rock in the polls, I say keep fucking dialing.
Whether they are an effective GOTV for the 28%ers that McCain needs to get to the polls in order to hold some of the red states is debatable but they are exactly what the rest of America needs to hear over and over during dinner to understand that McCain and Republicans are not just not serious about today’s awesome challenges.

Church Lady…It’s not surprising that a bunch of New Yorkers would be giving the bird to McPalin supporters. Just as it’s not surprising that McPalin supporters in rural Pennsyltucky would be at a near mob-level of rage in response to being baited by a few protesters. But I’d feel safer as a McPalin supporter in New York than an Obama supporter in whatever town this video was filmed in.
Bob In Pacifica
If I recall correctly, and it has been a long time, I don’t think the Weathermen bombed either the Capitol or the Pentagon. I recall them make a claim to bombing an ROTC office in Wisconsin and there were some Weathermen who blew themselves up in a NYC townhouse. I suspect that half of the Weathermen were working undercover for the FBI.
By the way, how come there’s no talk about Obama associating with a charity started with Walter Annenberg’s money? Walter and his dad Moe were mobsters and ran the national wire service (gambling) back in the forties. The Annenbergs helped to corrupt law enforcement across the country, had a hand in a few murders and in the financial ruin of many a man who foolishly thought he could predict which horse could run faster.
Moe finally took the rap with the feds in exchange for them letting Walter go. Walter went on to TV Guide and Ronnie Reagan.
Church Lady
josh – I went back and watched both tapes again. I didn’t see what I would call rage in either one, and certainly no physical violence or threats of physical violence. Just stupid people saying stupid things and fingers or fists raised, or thumbs turned down, on both tapes. I guess the stupidity of it all is what amazes me the most. I can honestly say that, no matter what I might think about any election, I certainly wouldn’t say or do anything that was being caught on a videotape. Living forever in a youtube moment is not something that I aspire to. :)
Atanarjuat
The video is a cherry-picking, sloppily-edited smear job. Perhaps some of the justifiably angered American citizens depicted may not be candidates for the United Nations General Assembly (as if that mattered), but it’s obvious that most of the more extreme slurs were disembodied voice-overs recorded on top of the original audio. That’s just downright dishonest.
Yes, I know, this is what passes for "truth" among the Ayers-fluffing left, but the backlash against these slimy tactics will only push more and more citizens into the McCain/Palin column, of this there is no doubt.
Oh, yeah, lest I forget: you self-righteous scumbags keep bashing Joe the Plumber for daring to confront your cargo cult leader and using Joe’s tax lien against his home to try to silence him, yet Nobama’s treasurer, Martin Nesbitt, also has a tax lien against him but this is somehow understandable and none of our business.
Of course! Anything to distract from Nobama’s tax-first, tax-always socialist agenda. Please keep cranking out those videos bashing regular Americans and continue your savage jihad against Joe the Plumber. Those are truly winning issues for the Nobama/Lyin’ Biden campaign.
Country First.

Good G*d ! Elwyn Tinklenberg has netted $438M+ in just 24 hours for his run against Michele "Real American" Bachmann in MN-06. Which, considering most people (or at least the ones on the blogs I’ve followed) gave only about $50 or less each, is a pretty impressive haul.
No word, though, from the Tinklenberg campaign on how much of it will be spent on their jihad against Joe the Plumber.
I guess we’ll have to wait.
PS: click on "438m+" for the link (to dKos).
gwangung
Well, given that New Yorkers WERE ACTUALLY KILLED BY TERRORISTS, I think they are a tiny bit insulted by the rather loose way the McCain/Palin team are throwing the term around (as well as the casual disdain the McCain/Palin team are showing toward "coastal elites").

Jay C,
I think if you read more carefully you’ll see that the Tinkleberg donations are thousands instead of millions. Still, a very large amount for a single district Congressional race in Minnesota.
Jay C
@Beej:
Yep, Tinklenberg’s figure, from the dKos diary, was
$ 438,346.57
Maybe I should have put "$438K+" to be clearer.
Still an impressive haul!
KRK
Slow down there, Jay C. The response to Bachmann’s latest lunacy has been great news for Tinklenberg (and Minnesota), but he’s raised $438K, not $438M.

Never mind.

If tax liens are important in terms of determining someone’s credibility or character, then it would also apply to the treasurer of the Nobama campaign, wouldn’t it?

@Comrade Nikolita:
You betcha, Nik.
A lot of these anti-socialists aren’t opposed to supporting the military/WOT, and AFAIK haven’t pestered their ‘red state’ representatives to stop taking out federal dollars at a rate disproportionate to how much they put into the federal coffers.
In other words, they support ‘tax and spend’ (‘socialism’) but as best as I can tell they’ll support it as long as it doesn’t go to causes they don’t support.
And really, at the risk of being disrespectful/simplistic about it, their opposition boils down to helping people for which they (for whatever reason) don’t appear to have any sort of kinship.

That was disgusting. Friggin’ revolting. They sounded like those jeering crowds at civil rights marches in the 60s. Especially that man with the damn Curious George doll. That made me ill.
