@Mnemosyne: If you add Senator Rubio’s and Senator Cruz’s together you get 44.1% of the vote. Which is about a percentage point off of the plurality Trump won. My guess is the GOP side of the Cuban vote split between the two Senators, but we won’t know until someone does a polling breakdown.

Which is why we repeatedly put up a pleasant and bland gubernatorial candidate every four years or Charlie Crist who is really a Republican. Running this year are Congressman Alan Grayson and Congressman Patrick Murphy who is also, from what I understand, actually a Republican, but he keeps running for office and getting elected as a Democrat. Personally I’m hoping that the retired Navy JAG catches fire and blows both their doors off, but given the way the state Democratic Party works I wouldn’t hold my breath.

It included an allegation that he maritally raped Ivana on the day he had his scalp reduction done because he was angry with her because she had recommended the plastic surgeon. She recanted all of it during the divorce and my understanding is that she, as well as ex wife #2 Marla Maples, are under non-disclosures as part of their divorce settlements/agreements. This info has been out there for almost twenty years. It was hammered late last Summer and early Fall, it went no where in terms of negatively impacting Trump’s poll numbers and support.

@RaflW: It should be part of her job to develop candidates for every partisan election at every level in every state. Municipal, both city and county and special district, elections in Florida, as well as judicial are all non-partisan, though everyone pretty much knows who belongs to which party. But in every state the Democratic National Committee should be actively working to 1) find talent to run at every level, 2) grooming that talent and supporting, and 3) finding people within the state who can serve as strategists and policy advisors for those candidates with the assumption that should they get elected, provided the individual is willing to serve, there will be an appointed/hired staff position for them.
As far as I know the DNC isn’t doing any of that, nor is it doing anything like it.

For a senate seat, sure national might help out, but their knowledge of locals is going to be much more limited. If there were a standout rep who was great at fundraising, they would know about her. Betty Castor and her husband were friends with my folks and I played soccer for a year with her son. I don’t know Kathy at all, except maybe to have said hello to on a sideline.

I’m waiting until he calls Obama the N word here soon. 1. Bernie won’t be holding a nationally elected office next year, nor will he be running again for one anytime soon. I’ve been told he’ll be running for reelection 2018 as an independent. From what platform is he going to lead a nationwide movement?
2. If not Bernie, then who? Is there someone in that youth coalition who will assume the leadership of his base?
3. Will the coalition, no matter who leads it, work within the Democratic party or stay outside it? The former leads to a risk of being co-opted by the establishment power structute within the party. The latter risks the movement becoming ineffectual.
