Dogs looking up at your camera flash. Steve not interested. Pretty much sums up dogs and cats right there. Not that cats are unresponsive, but once out of the kitten stage they certainly aren’t over responsive. They’ve got ancient memories to review . . . .

@westyny: Samwise often looks up when you say “Sam” or “cat.” He used to be pretty freaked out by Supernatural, which often features people yelling SAM! a lot, but it seems like he can tell when the noises are coming from the teevee now.
@HumboldtBlue: it’s late and I am tired. I fixed it though.

One of the cats decided to throw up on my suitcase before I was done unpacking it. Fortunately, it was zipped so no vomit got on the stuff that was still inside, but it was still quite unpleasant to discover.
Well, isn’t this special. Google Ads decided I should see an above the BJ masthead animated banner ad for Hindrocket’s “Freedumb Club” (not actual spelling) candidate to ‘keep Minnesota red’. I clicked, so I hope they have to pay mad cash to JC here. (A penny? A 10th of a penny? No idea what ad clicks generate for a site. Now I’m sure I’ll get moar conservatives! in my ad feed. Bah.)
It was a great conference. Although you write in a different genre, you may want to take a look at a writing craft book called Verbalize! by Damon Suede. He’s one of the most popular writing teachers in the romance world and he has some really interesting techniques and theories that I haven’t seen used elsewhere.
Had the Big Reveal earlier this morning, as the bandages came off for the first time. As expected things are quite swollen (and will be for a few months), and a bit messy with stitches and whatnot. But yeah, it was nice to look down and just feel… right.
I’ll be even happier tomorrow when I’ll finally be allowed to get out of bed briefly — five days being bed-bound is definitely not fun. (And frustrating when the nurses put something down just out of reach. Thankfully they’re good-humored about coming back when I ring them.) Oh, did I mentioned I’ll finally be allowed to poop again. Surgeons have been encouraging me to eat more and I’m like…. nope, not happening.
Thursday (I hope) or Friday, I finally get to return to the hotel. Which will introduces its new challenges, but at least I’ll be move around, be around other people, and have better food. (The “better” hospital menu was still pretty tasteless, although a break from bland fish and minced pork patties. But this morning’s shu mai…. well it looked, like shu mai, even if it didn’t really taste like it.)

@Sister Golden Bear: Yay! Glad to hear it’s going well. Wishing a quick and easy recovery to you – and all the best as you get used to your new self.
Yay! Glad to hear that your recovery has been uneventful, which is exactly what you want. Hopefully you will continue to be happy woth your new aftermarket parts. Keep in mind that even us cisgirls look at our goodies sometimes and think, “Really? Is that really what that’s supposed to look like?” It’s just an odd-looking area by nature.

@Sister Golden Bear: What good news! You have been in my thoughts all week; so glad that all is going well.
Here’s to a smooth and speedy recovery (and non-hospital food, asap!).
@Mnemosyne: Yep, I definitely understand there’s a lot of variation. Even checked out the Great Wall of Vagina — NSFW obviously: http://www.greatwallofvagina.co.uk/home — for some perspective.
It’ll be about three months before I get a good idea of what things look like. Obviously, in my case, they have to work with the existing tissue that’s available. But I’ve seen photos of other people’s results (there’s a private forum for his patients) and you generally can’t tell the difference between the factory-installed version.
@Sister Golden Bear: Just adding more best wishes for getting better as long as it takes, and of course for escape from hospital food in the short term.
@Sister Golden Bear:
Happy to hear the good news. I hope the recovery continues smoothly and it all turns out as you hoped.

Second try.. maybe this time without exciting the evil gods of touching a tiny wrong spot of the screen..
I’ve been to Huntington twice. The first time the Chinese Garden was under construction. It was great but around the edges it was harsh and desolate. The second visit felt overrun by hungry crowds and overflowing garbage cans. Both times in winter-gorgeous days.
The sky is radiant, good camera and good eye.
It pisses me off that the Trump gnomes are kneecapping California’s ability to cut smog. LA is thriving because there are many more days of clear air. More is the right of every Angeleno and every citizen that loves America.
Thanks for capturing the magical moments that remind us of why we care so much.
Well, if you are starting to care about the food, that’s a sign you have energy to use on such unimportant things, relative to recovering. So glad you are feeling right, also, too!! Which was the point, after all…
Congratulations! Sounds like the plan is coming together for you! Well done.
Wow, what a great sunset opportunity!! In the park and all, too. Great job!

@Major Major Major Major: If I come home and everyone greets me at the door except Miss Willow, and I say to Mr. Bear: “Where’s your lazy sister?”, she always politely meows from wherever she is because she knows I have asked about her. I love that.
Sometimes the meow comes from a lump under the blanket because she loves to burrow into anything soft. I love that, too. She’s a sweet girl, and with 3 boys in the house, we have to stick together.

Pretty bendy knee there for the old man you claim to be.
Don’t the critters on your arm and legs make you too hot in this heat?

Has Steve benefitted from some diabolical Photoshop magic or is he really bigger than the other two doggies combined?
Just asking for some envious kitteh friends.

Well, it looks like three out of the four animals are possessed by demons. The good news is that the demons appear to be friendly.
