This is just brutal. From the Lincoln Project.
But true.
It might be time to call our senators to let them know, a trial has witnesses, a coverup doesn’t.
Anyone watching the debate tonight? I have a migraine, so I’m afraid watching it might just do me in. I’ll probably find something junky to watch instead.
Open thread.

I should have noted, this is all over the news here, so they don’t even have to buy ad time.

@TaMara (HFG):
Seems pretty mild.
Well, compared to the lies that the Shitgibbonistas will post on Facebook as “political ads,” that is.
SiubhanDuinne
I need a cigarette after that, and I haven’t smoked since March 15, 1993.
Baud
I’ll probably watch since this is the last one before voting by begins.

So sorry about the migraine. Stay away from the debate. Decades ago I used to go sleep in a dark, cool, quiet room with my Great Dane as medicine when I had headaches.
TaMara (HFG)
@SiubhanDuinne: I just love it’s coming from inside the house! GOP duking it out, hopefully come out so battered and bruised there’s nothing left but a little spittle and blood.

I love this ad and want it to have lots of babies. One for Collins, one for Moscow Mitch, one for Graham, one for McSally…

OT but the Lev Parnas documents are mind bogglingly devastating to Trump and Giuliani. They appear to have ordered a hit on Yovanovitch, among other things.

@Dan B:
Where did you see this?
CaseyL
The Lincoln Project is an organization composed mostly of Never-Trump Republicans, so this ad is gobsmackingly brutal. Not even a hint of whataboutism or bothsiderism: just a clean straight hit. Amazing.
In other news, has anyone checked out the Parnas Document Dump? It looks like, among other things, Parnas and Robert Hyde (described as a “former GOP congressional candidate”) were plotting to have Ambassador Yovanovich kidnapped and/or killed. JFC.

Will again share a folk medicine migraine treatment picked up from an actual ‘witch doctor’ while was part of a group being held in captivity by a tribe of Guarani in South America.
Peel a clove of garlic. Slice in half, lengthwise. While lying down put the half clove, cut side down, just above the eyebrow on the side where the migraine is.
Placebo effect? Who knows? But costs nothing to try.

@Dan B:
Oh, wow, you’re right. So that’s what “she’s going to go through some things” meant.

@zhena gogolia: It’s in the Twitter deluge. Here is a link to one of the tweets mentioning it: https://twitter.com/NatashaBertrand/status/1217237865048027136

@CaseyL:
This strengthens my feeling that what some of these Repubs are afraid of is not exposure of their sex lives, or losing their Senate seat, but DEATH.
Percysowner
I’ve had a migraine all day, so I sympathize. I was going to tape the debate anyway, the final two episodes Crisis on Infinite Earths is back on the CW and it’s been really good so far, so that’s what I’m watching tonight. I watched every other debate and I don’t need to see the moderators try and push Warren and Bernie into a cage match on sexism. I’m DVRing the debate in case anything really important happens.

@Dan B:
Jesus, really?
TaMara (HFG)
@NotMax: Do NOT tell my Italian family, but I do not have a bulb of garlic at the moment. :-( But garlic is a miracle.
My go-to, for some weird unknown reason, is raw almonds. Almost every time, reduces by migraine to a day instead of three.

Not the documents, just a summary, but dated today.

Say what you will about Wilson and his pals, but they know how to do tough, nasty political ads. Rather than graying out trump they should orange him out.

Expect the vampire flash mob any time now.

Awesome ad. What Dems should be running in every purple state.
I’ll be watching the debate with my 16 year old. She watches it while keeping LGBT twitter up on her phone. I watch it with BJ and TPM on my iPad. And we compare notes and comments in real time. I think we were both leaning Warren at this time but I’m getting Klobuchar-curious.
CaseyL
@zhena gogolia: I’ve honestly wondered about that. Threats not only to the politician in question, but also threats to their family (cf Justice Kennedy’s sudden resignation to make way for Kavanaugh).
Which naturally made me wonder whether there are, or will be, Russian mafia threats against Democratic politicians and families…

Been away for a bit. Which thread are we using to discuss the conspiracy to spy on and possibly harm a US Ambassador to Ukraine?

When I heard Yovanovitvh testify I thought she was hinting that she feared for her physical safety, not just her job and professional reputation, but it didn’t get traction from the questioners so i thought I was overinterpreting.
Turns out I wasn’t. Our government pursued a hit on one of our ambassadors.

New thread on doc dump.

I plan to at least listen to the debate, but we’ll see how it goes.
ICYMI – MoJo – Trump seemingly committed tax fraud to avoid taxes on $50M loan forgiveness:
I’m shocked, shocked that a guy who bragged about not paying taxes because he’s “smart” would apparently concoct ways to not pay taxes that look like tax fraud.
(groucho-roll-eyes.gif)
This is why getting his tax returns is just one step in the process.
It’s a good read. Click over if you can.
Cheers,
Scott.

Well said.
I’m working late. I guess I will try to catch highlights.

Can the doc dump be introduced at the trial or has McConnell refused to allow new evidence?

@TaMara (HFG): almonds have magnesium, maybe that’s why.
zhena gogolia
@NotMax:
Wait, what?
zhena gogolia
@Princess:
Oh, I thought that was made very explicit in the questioning and the testimony.

I have had a massive reduction in the frequency and severity of my migraines recently by starting proponalol (20 mg at bedtime; my migraines usually start in the morning) and by cutting out caffeine (except as therapy for the ones I do have). I’ve gone from 2-3 per week to about one, and most of the time they go away with ibuprofen, coffee, and water, which was not true in the past.
I’m also taking magnesium via a spoonful of magnesium citrate solution (the laxative, but far less than a laxative dose), but I’ve taken that in the past without big improvements. I am suspicious of the value of the magnesium pills because they are made with magnesium oxide, which is essentially insoluble.

@debbie: There isn’t any OLD evidence yet. Until he gets the Articles, he’s got nothing to say about what’s in them.

We watched Chris Hayes’ show on MSNBC and he covered tonights document dump pretty well. Amazing stuff, almost unbelievable if Trump wasn’t in the White House.
Then Rachel Maddow went over some of it again, while we were having dessert. Dinner was fried rice with veges, dessert was locally made ice cream in a sundae. The news was almost as good as the dinner.
