Because even 12 year olds have computer access, I think it is important for me to point out what a great president is and what a miserable failure really is. If you don’t know why I am doing this, check here and here.
John Cole started Balloon Juice early in 2002. Those who have followed along know that this has been quite the journey.

My Prediction for Democratic VP
With the Gore endorsement of Dean pretty much sealing the nomination for Dean, it is now time for me to predict who Dean will choose as his running mate.
As Dean’s campaign has basiclly been “I hate everythijng about Bush and I was against the war,” it is time to run to the center. They are not going to pick a southern veep- politically the world has changed and a southern candidate simpy is not as important anymore, particularly to the Dems. They need someone young, dynamic, and centrist. They need someone who was in favor of the war to blunt the charges that Dean is McGovern, and they need someone who has not made a bunch of idiotic public proclamations in the last two years. They need someone who has not been bloodied by the nomination process, so the 8 other has-beens are out. They could use someone from the industrial midwest, and if they choose someone from the Senate, it needs to be someone who could be easily replaced by another Democrat, particularly a state with a Democratic governor. The answer is rather clear:
Dean’s running mate is going to be Evan Bayh.
This would also explain his well-timed and rather hawkish Q&A last week.
*** Update ***
And before people start claiming he is not centrist, lemme ask you this- how many other Democrats have pictures of themselves with Colin Powell, Kay Bailey Hutchinson, and Rick Santorum on their official Senate website? The question is, will he go the way of Lieberman in 2000 and throw out all of his principles to make sure Sheila Jackson lee and Maxine Waters are happy with the ticket? Of course, Bayh is not Jewish, so that solves part of the problem with the CBC.
*** Update #2 ***
I see the name Bill Richardson being floated. A good choice, but didn’t he JUST get elected, with his first action a drastic tac cut package? And Graham has become a nutter, not to mention the age issue.

Gore to Endorse Dean
I guess this is sort of a loser’s relay race, because Gore apparently has agreed to pass the baton to Dean.
Cool.
Also, will someone please tell Dean to drop it with this 9/11 consipiracy theory nonsense. I wrote about it the other day, and yesterday, Dean once again babbled about it. This time it was on Fox News, and to be fair, he was not the one who brought it up, but his answer was not confidence inspiring:
WALLACE: The most interesting theory is that the president was warned ahead of time by the Saudis. Why would you say that, Go who believe that. We don’t know what happened in 9/11. Tom Kean is trying to get some information from the president…
WALLACE: Do you believe that?
DEAN: … which doesn’t — no, I don’t believe that. I can’t imagine the president of the United States doing that. But we don’t know, and it’d be a nice thing to know.
WALLACE: I’m just curious why you would call that the most interesting theory.
DEAN: Because it’s a pretty odd theory.
What we do believe is that there was a lot of chatter that somehow was missed by the CIA and the FBI about this, and that for some reason we were unable to decide and get clear indications of what the attacks what were going to be. Because the president…
WALLACE: I guess…
DEAN: Because the president won’t give the information to the Kean commission we really don’t know what the explanation is.
Dean- the only acceptable answer is ‘Anyone who thinks the President knew about the attacks prior to 9/11 is mentally unbalanced.’ The Governor keeps trying to have his cake and eat it too. If you can not ‘imagine’ the President knowing about the attack in demand, why do you keep insisting that there are documents that would cleare this up that Bush refuses to give to the Kean commission. The reason is because you are being a weasel. Dean knows damned well that the only documents not being turned over to the Kean commission are several classified security briefings, and while they are not being formally turned over, some commission members are allowed to peruse the documents.
This guy is arrogant, hot-headed, condescending, dishonest, and has the wrong ideas regarding foreign policy and fiscal policy. I am going to love the general election. A long time friend (and former McCain supporter) the other day noted that he had sent $100 bucks to the Dean campaign, because “he is thoroughly unelectable.”
Impressive
Calpundit takes a bill written, passed, and signed during the Clinton administration and manages to turn it into Bush-bashing.
Apparently the name Bush is synonomous with bad, or evil.
*** Update ***
People seem to be missing my point. I think the legislation at hand is a bad idea- any screwing with peer review is not wise, IMHO. What I find amusing is that the only way Kevin and Chris and Mr. Robbins can effectively highlight the pitfalls of the bill is to invoke the evil specter of George W. Bush.
News Flash
This will come as a shock- the people at MoveOn.Org are a bunch of liars. In Spinsanity’s words:
In short, with The Daily Mislead, MoveOn has become the leader of a new school of liberal criticism that seeks to brand every policy disagreement with President Bush as a broken promise or lie. These loose accusations trivialize charges of dishonesty, reducing them to little more than another partisan spin tactic.
Must have been reading the CalPundit’s Tautology of Lies. At any rate, does anyone else find it amusing that a group formed to ‘move on’ past the events that led to the statement “it depends on what the meaning of the word is, is” now lying at every opportunity? At least they have been consistent throughout with their respect for the truth. They have none.
