Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The low info voters probably won’t even notice or remember by their next lap around the goldfish bowl.

There are a lot more evil idiots than evil geniuses.

People are weird.

You cannot love your country only when you win.

If you thought you’d already seen people saying the stupidest things possible on the internet, prepare yourselves.

Radicalized white males who support Trump are pitching a tent in the abyss.

The arc of the moral universe does not bend itself. it is up to us to bend it.

The only way through is to slog through the muck one step at at time.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

I did not have this on my fuck 2025 bingo card.

Roe is not about choice. It is about freedom.

Giving up is unforgivable.

Let’s delete this post and never speak of this again.

“I was told there would be no fact checking.”

Republicans in disarray!

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

Come on, media. you have one job. start doing it.

It’s a good piece. click on over. but then come back!!

If you’re gonna whine, it’s time to resign!

Just because you believe it, that does not make it true.

Their shamelessness is their super power.

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

I would gladly pay you tuesday for a hamburger today.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires Republicans to act in good faith.

On The Road - PAM Dirac - Alaska Cruise - Part 2 9
Disenchanment Bay, AKAugust 23, 2023

Overall we had exceptional weather for our trip. We packed many layers and all kinds of rain gear, but I don’t think it ever got below 50F and the whole trip we probably got 3 or 4 drops of rain. We were hoping our luck held for the trip to the Hubbard Glacier. The ship sails into a bay (Disenchanment Bay) and gets as close to the glacier as conditions allow. The previous cruise for our ship didn’t even go into the bay because the weather was so bad. We were worried on the morning of our Hubbard trip because there was lots of fog. As we got closer, we sailed out of the fog bank and into beautiful, clear, sunny weather. I bit later I looked back and saw the ship in back of us, just getting out of the fog. A ghost ship!

My wife and I did an Alaskan cruise the end of August. 10 nights with 6 stops where you could get off the ship, all in the southeast “tail” of the state. First time in Alaska for the both of us. A very pleasant and interesting trip. Turns out cruising fits well in this area as almost all the transportation is over water. I don’t think any of the places we visited are accessible by car from the lower 48 without at least one leg being a ferry ride.

The cruise started and ended in Seattle. Coming from the Balt/Wash area, Seattle doesn’t seem to be too big or crowded, but the population is almost 25 times the population of Juneau, the largest Alaskan stop on the cruise. This part of Alaska is really empty.
