A guy I actually know from Morgantown and have had drinks with has filed for the Senate race against Byrd:
Announcing his candidacy on the 218th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution, Morgantown businessman George Johnson officially begins his campaign for United States Senate today on the Republican ticket. Johnson, 38, is best-known for his vigorous defense of his family’s riverfront property in Morgantown, West Virginia and works in the family’s land and coal-development business there.
“We keep finding out the hard way that private property rights aren’t quite as sacred to some as they used to be,” said Johnson. “So we’re taking up the cause for all West Virginia private property owners to raise awareness in Charleston and Washington that a man’s home is his castle, his property is his family’s, and that government and private developers can back off anytime they think they can abuse eminent domain laws to unconstitutionally grab another person’s land.”
I wonder how many campaigns will have the recent Kelo decision at the forefront…
