Did anyone catch what Rep. Bachman said on Hardball, because it had Chris Matthews in a major snit. I tuned in afterwards and it had something to do with anti-Americanism or something.

I’m off to Peactree City to run the Peachtree City Classic 15k. Have a great weekend!
Update: Oh, and this, too, also.
Update II: First of all, Peachtree City is a nice, quaint little town. I enjoyed hanging out in a small place for once. My partner and I stayed at Dolce – a very nice hotel.
Second, I finished the run in about 1:27 (He did it in 1:08.) I have never run more than 10k (6.2 miles) in my life. I did this run without stopping. This was an great course. I can’t wait to do it again next year. In fact, Halef and I are going to make it a point ot go to PTC once every few weeks or so to run the same course. The thing about it is that it is so scenic. For me, it distracted from the fact that I was doing more than I’ve ever done before. It was, in a word, awesome.
The New Definition of the Republican Party
You might be excused if you said placing Obama’s face on a $10 food stamp with a bucket of fried chicken, watermelon, ribs, and Kool-Aid was an isolated act.
When a major right-wing network calls Michelle Obama, “Obama’s Baby Mama,” you could dismiss it as as an overzealous producer who just thought it was funny and didn’t mean it to say that black women are just baby machines for black men. You could, I suppose.
You might even get a pass if you thought a Web site that depicted Obama and the word “Waterboard Him” was just created by an obscure group that didn’t represent all Republicans – although you would be wrong.
If a picture of Obama was Photoshopped to make him look a little bit like Osama Bin Laden, you could pass it off as the work of a few idiots on the right. It could be, right?
Supporters who carry racist Obama Monkey Dolls to your rallys are people who don’t represent your campaign. You could argue that.
Of course, this is just a moron on the fringe, right?
What about when a high-level Republican fundraiser sends out an email that includes a joke with the punchline, if an airplane carrying Obama and his wife were blown up “it certainly wouldn’t be a great loss, and it probably wouldn’t be an accident either.”? Sure, you could pass it off as the act of a random dumbass.
If, in response to your question, “Who is Barack Obama?” someone yelled “Terrorist!” you could say that was just one idiot in the crowd and was not indicative of the general sentiment. It’s plausible.
In fact, you could cite dozens of examples of these racist, divisive, dillusiuonal attacks on Barack Obama and conclude that they are just elements of the fringe and don’t represent mainstream Republicans.
Sooner or later though, you will have to acknowledge that this “fringe” is very widespread. You’ll have to come to grips, eventually, with the fact that this “fringe” has become the very definition of the your party.

Why I Think Georgia is Worth Watching
Jim Martin outrasied Saxby Chambliss last quarter.
Upstart Democratic Senate challenger Jim Martin raised more money than Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss in the most recent three-month period, according to finance reports filed this week.
In by far his best fundraising haul of the campaign, Martin took in more than $1.3 million from July through the end of September. Chambliss took in $1.1 million.
The silver lining for Chambliss is that Martin spent almost all of his money and had just $92,340 in the bank heading into the final month of the campaign. Chambliss had about $1.2 million in his treasury.
Those ads are working. I really believe Georgia is in play. People in my home state love Republicans. They do NOT like McCain. I think Jim Martin is going to win. Senate +1.
Charity Event
I am watching the Alfred E. Smith Catholic charity event, and McCain is actual pretty damned funny. Actually, despite his delivery, his lines are awesome and he is killing.
And no, this is not sarcasm. The ACORN shots were cheap, but the rest was funny.
*** Update ***
Obama was pretty damned funny, a little more self-deprecating, but I still think McCain was funnier.
BTW- My favorite line was after Obama made fun of the lipstick on Giuliani and said ‘tough primary you had there, John.’ Didn’t get many laughs, but I laughed here. The other line was McCain’s riffs about the Clinton’s not really campaigning for Barack (which is BS), but it was funny.
