Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Innocent people don’t delay justice.

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

In short, I come down firmly on all sides of the issue.

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

The line between political reporting and fan fiction continues to blur.

They are lying in pursuit of an agenda.

“Cheese and Kraken paired together for the appetizer trial.”

Somebody needs to explain to DeSantis that nobody needs to do anything to make him look bad.

I really should read my own blog.

“But what about the lurkers?”

I like you, you’re my kind of trouble.

Russia bombs Ukraine’s maternity hospitals; Republicans in the House can’t sort out supporting Ukraine.

A snarling mass of vitriolic jackals

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

Anyone who bans teaching American history has no right to shape America’s future.

They think we are photo bombing their nice little lives.

Is it negotiation when the other party actually wants to shoot the hostage?

They traffic in fear. it is their only currency. if we are fearful, they are winning.

He wakes up lying, and he lies all day.

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

Biden: Oh no. We’ve upset Big Pharma again.

Historically it was a little unusual for the president to be an incoherent babbling moron.

Russian mouthpiece, go fuck yourself.

Been a sedate but football filled weekend here, and I just watched MSU shit the bed against Wisconsin. Why was anyone withing 40 yards of the punter? Watching Boss on demand and chilling with the pets. You?

Clemson / WVU should be a good one. LSU has one incredible football team but Oklahoma State ought to get a shot at them. Alabama had their chance at home and muffed it.

Why was anyone withing 40 yards of the punter?

Force of habit. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Oklahoma State looked like they were putting on a show for the poll voters, challenging every criticism raised of them so far. Leaky defense? Not tonight. Can’t run the ball? They did tonight. They looked like they went out on every drive with a mission to highlight a different part of their arsenal, like a bodybuilder running through poses for the judges. Remarkable to watch.

Don’t think it’ll be enough — I’m convinced that plenty of poll voters deliberately watch nothing but SEC games — but it’d be a more entertaining end to the season.

Does Boise State now get an at-large bid after VA Tech got royally shat upon by Clemson?

Willard has no core principles and no real constituency he’s constantly trying to win over. If he does get the White House, he’ll pretty much pass anything the Republicans can get to his desk. Plus he’s very much a 1%er and they want one of those in charge. He’ll be very sympathetic to the raping of the middle class and the enrichment at the top. Skyrim rocks.

A couple of months ago, I dusted off Oblivion and tried to replay it but didn’t get very far. The leveling system in that game is insanely complicated, I couldn’t remember how in the hell to enchant things, the main quest is mostly tedious, etc. Skyrim is a huge improvement in all of those departments.

It’s still a little buggy, and you never know when some simple sounding quest will turn out to be some horribly long awful dungeon, but it’s the best game I’ve played in a loooong time.

But they don’t get the veto. And the human polls have consistently been lower for OSU than the computer rankings, which is why I think they treated the game against the Sooners like an audition for the poll-fillers, in the hope that east coast coaches stayed awake past 8pm.

(Speaking of TV people, the FOX coverage of Wis/MSU was… iffy. And they get all the BCS games. But I’ve only been watching ESPN and CBS this year, so perhaps it was just the change of personnel that seemed off.)
