Koda Rescue Bleg – Time to Chip In

Remember Koda, the young chocolate Lab in Santa Monica? Long-time commentor GEG6, in Pittsburgh, offered to adopt her if the logistics could be worked out. She & Jenna have been emailing each other, and here’s the result:

I’ve been emailing back and forth with Jenna and we are getting things narrowed down…

It looks like Koda may have to get a new kennel (if the size Jenna gave me was right, her current one is too small) in order to be shipped, which should run about $50 or so. I’m happy to cover that and the cost for Jenna to sign up on Pet Air (they want the sender to set things up), which is $25. Koda also has to have a health certification from her vet no more than 10 days before she is shipped, which I’ve also said I’d cover. As for the flight, depending on the kennel size, it will be either about $300 or $400. I’d normally be happy to cover that, but right now I am having some major dental work done and my insurance only covers about $1000 of a $5000 bill, so I’m a bit tapped out. If the generosity of the Juicers can make this happen, we can actually make the reservation and Koda will be winging her way to PA and my heart soon…

    I have a feeling we’ll all have to wait on dinner with the boss. But we both live where there are major research institutions, so odds are it’ll happen.

    @Keith G: @Gin & Tonic: I have a personal visceral hatred of Paypal. They managed to lose two accounts I set up with them then the third time sent me through a Byzantine maze to try to use it. I’ll only do so if there’s no alternate method of getting money where it needs to go. Otherwise fuck that noise.

    Thanks for facilitating this, Anne Laurie! And thanks to any and all Juicers willing to help. I’m soooooo excited to get Koda here. I feel for Jenna, too! She doesn’t want to give Koda up, but she loves her enough to let her go. I’m hugely grateful to her. And Koda will be just as loved here in PA as she is in CA.

    I’m there with you both. Happy to contribute but I had a bad experience with PayPal a number of years ago and refuse to use it. I’d much prefer to write an actual paper cheque, with an ink pen, and mail it in an envelope with a postage stamp affixed.

    As a DOOPer I learned a lot of things, but that spelling (along with centre, neighbour, and similar) comes from the year I spent going to school (Grade 6) in Regina, Saskatchewan. I must have been at an extremely receptive age for spelling, because I picked up all those Canadianisms and Britishisms as if born to them. And I’ve never regretted it :-)
