I was away for the showing of episode 9 from last week, so I just saw it. I always wait until Mondays to watch the Sunday episode with my son, who works Sunday nights. So yeah, the Bastards battle was epic and horrifying and sickening. And I love the dragons with all my heart. And I won’t be able to stand waiting for the finale this evening, but I’ll wait for my son.
So I’ll walk away now and catch the discussions after I see the last episode of the season. Enjoy!

@rikyrah: Yes, he did. I just saw on Twitter that someone called him our generation’s Harry Belafonte.
Devyn @HalfAtlanta
Jesse Williams simultaneously calling out our white supremacist society while calling the room full of Black celebrities for their inaction.
Jon is both, or rather the result of the ” Song of Ice and Fire” a relationship that sparked all of the death in the story both short term and long term.
Wait seriously, I mean for a book reader that was arguably the best episode the shows ever had it paid off 20 years of speculation, and basically set the stage for the end game.
@rikyrah: Boris the clown has written an article saying that the Brexit wasn’t about immigration, it was about “sovereignty”, which really is just “states rights” with a British accent.
That’s how you do a tribute to Prince — Sheila E. killed it! And had Mayte and the twins and Jerome there as well.

For Outlander fans: The final episode for this season will apparently be July 9th and be 90 minutes long. Next Saturday Starz is planning a marathon of the rest of the season as a lead-in to the final episode.
Boris the clown has written an article saying that the Brexit wasn’t about immigration, it was about “sovereignty”, which really is just “states rights” with a British accent.
I listened to some of the BBC news reports and analysis of Brexit, including interviews with voters. Many of them spoke about their problems with immigration. And a number of them freely offered that they believed that Brexit would help “make Britain great again.”
One Leve voter holds onto his optimism, believing that in a year or so, everything will be all right again. On the other side, a 93 year old voted for Remain. Many of the other Remain voters were just stunned, unsure of what might happen next.
Another program, noting how both the Conservative and Labour Parties were imploding, reinforced its own point by noting that the 12th Labour Shadow minister had resigned during the course of the program.
The funniest line I heard was from a Labour minister, insistent that a tottering Corbyn should be kept in place, noted in an aside that Obama was not available to become the new Labour leader.
The havoc caused by the vote dovetails nicely with the Game of Thrones finale. There is turmoil and confusion in England, and whole swatches of the traditional leadership have been swept off the table. Meanwhile, Nicola Sturgeon is the Queen in the North.

@Socraticsilence: I have never read any of the books and I absolutely felt it was one of the top two or there episodes of the entire series. I actually don’t care at all about the book readers’ “payoff” (I am aware of what you are talking about there) but aside from that, I was completely riveted by every scene even though I was pretty sure of what was going to happen in just about every case.
@rikyrah: Boris the clown has written an article saying that the Brexit wasn’t about immigration, it was about “sovereignty”, which really is just “states rights” with a British accent.
‘Sovereignty’ with no qualification is utter bullshit. We’ve reduced that down to sovereignty of individual citizens here in the US. Nations of one, with a gun at each border ensuring nobody crosses it.

@MomDoc: Thanks for posting the Jesse Williams speech. I’m ashamed to say I didn’t know about him, but I will find out more now. The Prince tribute was excellent. I liked the way Jennifer Hudson and Janelle Monae wore outfits like his, even to the backless pants. It got a bit weepy seeing the veiled lady from the “Kiss” video.

In case anyone is still following the glacially slow counting of ballots from the CA primary, as of COB Friday there were slightly less than 606,000 ballots left to be processed. Clinton’s lead is sitting at 430,000. Put another way, there were over 600,000 ballots processed last week, and Bernie managed to shave a magnificent 10K off Clinton’s margin.
No, I don’t think he’s going to get there.
51.
CaseyL
That was one hell of a finale. Talk about clearing the table!
@burnspbesq: He would need to get to about 80% to make any difference, Merely winning by a point or two doesn’t change delegate math, and he’s not even going to do that,.
In related news, Sanders’ press secretary quit today. The gravy train is stopping.
I wonder if anybody at balloon juice would be interested in something like this? Nah, probably not.

As tying-up-of-loose-ends finales go, this season of GoT was great! The stage has been set for massive showdowns from the Wall to Dorne next season. Can’t wait!
So Jon Snow’s parentage has been widely speculated R+L=J, and it’s now been revealed as true. I see that Sansa seems genuinely happy for Jon to be KitN and she seems genuinely worried about what Littlefinger may be planning next. The look on Littlefinger’s face was barely concealed rage this plan was being foiled by the temperament of the Northern Lords and Lady, and Sansa seemed content not to make a claim. Will Littlefinger be the one to reveal that Jon is not Ned’s son?
Tommen learned that it was his Mother who murdered his wife, brother in law and spiritual advisor and I guess he decided that going on under the circumstances was just not worth it. I suppose Power is all Cersei has now and it looks to me like Jaime has come back to a nightmare; one that he tried to prevent by killing the previous Mad King. His own son is now a victim of Cersei’s scheming, but I doubt she’ll blame herself for it.
Things finally moving in the right direction with Daenerys’ story arc. Goodbye, Mereen. Hope to never see you again.
Was not happy to see the Dornish contingent, but Lady Olenna makes everything better, and I like the Varys is in on the plot for revenge was well.
I do think Walder Frey deserved what he got and got the nudge and wink to book readers with Frey pies, but I’m on the fence about Arya’s turn. I would like to believe she won’t be broken beyond the point of return. Maybe she will end up partnering the BWOB now that the Hound is with them. At least their motivations are well motivated. I do believe she will meet Melisandre again also. How that plays out, I don’t know.
Oh and Sam enters NerdHeaven in the library of the Citadel.
Do we have to wait until next Spring for the next season? Probably.

sad to say but they need to continue that particular story thread because that kingdom’s self-destruction has to get depicted as well.
