Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty. ~Thomas Jefferson

I desperately hope that, yet again, i am wrong.

JFC, are there no editors left at that goddamn rag?

The next time the wall street journal editorial board speaks the truth will be the first.

Tide comes in. Tide goes out. You can’t explain that.

Nothing says ‘pro-life’ like letting children go hungry.

Come on, media. you have one job. start doing it.

“Can i answer the question? No you can not!”

This country desperately needs a functioning fourth estate.

Michigan is a great lesson for Dems everywhere: when you have power…use it!

Republicans don’t lie to be believed, they lie to be repeated.

Imperialist aggressors must be defeated, or the whole world loses.

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

You are so fucked. Still, I wish you the best of luck.

The fundamental promise of conservatism all over the world is a return to an idealized past that never existed.

If rights aren’t universal, they are privilege, not rights.

Narcissists are always shocked to discover other people have agency.

… riddled with inexplicable and elementary errors of law and fact

They want us to be overwhelmed and exhausted. Focus. Resist. Oppose.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

Museums are not America’s attic for its racist shit.

White supremacy is terrorism.

Republicans: “Abortion is murder but you can take a bus to get one.” Easy peasy.

Stamping your little feets and demanding that they see how important you are? Not working anymore.

Late Night Open Thread

I’ve had a bit of a cold since yesterday, and that combined with the rain today, my early rude awakening from Steve, and I napped a fair bit this afternoon so I am up later than usual watching Game of Thrones again to prepare for the new season. I am also pleased to announce that the benevolent dictator who rules my house has once again chosen to grant me mercy:

I know everyone thinks they have the best cat in the world, but I really do.

    His fur looks soft,
    His face looks sweet.
    He’s dreaming that John
    Will be tasty meat.

    His paws are crossed,
    His purr is deep.
    He’s going to kill you
    In your sleep.

I definitely do not have the best cats in the world. They’re weird and dumb, but I love them anyway.

@Mary: I’ve known a couple of great cats, but they’ve not been mine own. My last late kitty who lived til nearly 21 was eventually like my mother in feline form – not affectionate, and totally about her own current needs. But we shared our lives together longer than any other individual I’ve ever known, and we had a deep knowingness and mutual trust.

My sister just got a Golden puppy, so I am about to relive the early experience of the love of my life – the late great Seamus. Will never stop missing that sweet soul!

British papers are full of “Putin owned Trump” stories this fine Saturday morning, alongside hopeful previews of the big British Lions v. All Blacks match that kicks off in about an hour.

I think the democrats should come up with a new series of amendments which improve the ACA towards more universality more pooled risk / cost less reliant on employment etc. get concurrence in party and publish it.

Basically telling Rs if you ever think you’ll get one vote from us it won’t be any piece of repeal and only improve with one or all of these amendments.

Alas, far too many self-proclaimed progressives believe that the only road to single-payer runs through thousands of needless deaths. And since they believe they won’t be the ones doing the dying, they’re cool with it.
