Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

In my day, never was longer.

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

They are not red states to be hated; they are voter suppression states to be fixed.

Speaker Mike Johnson is a vile traitor to the House and the Constitution.

Sometimes the world just tells you your cat is here.

Giving in to doom is how authoritarians win.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

Republicans got rid of McCarthy. Democrats chose not to save him.

Tide comes in. Tide goes out. You can’t explain that.

Nancy smash is sick of your bullshit.

Celebrate the fucking wins.

The worst democrat is better than the best republican.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

These days, even the boring Republicans are nuts.

Is trump is trying to break black America over his knee? signs point to ‘yes’.

“Can i answer the question? No you can not!”

Let the trolls come, and then ignore them. that’s the worst thing you can do to a troll.

If you cannot answer whether trump lost the 2020 election, you are unfit for office.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

Pessimism assures that nothing of any importance will change.

The press swings at every pitch, we don’t have to.

They spent the last eight months firing professionals and replacing them with ideologues.

Every reporter and pundit should have to declare if they ever vacationed with a billionaire.

These traitorous cocksuckers:

A business associate of President Trump promised in 2015 to engineer a real estate deal with the aid of the president of Russia, Vladimir V. Putin, that he said would help Mr. Trump win the presidency.

The associate, Felix Sater, wrote a series of emails to Mr. Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, in which he boasted about his ties to Mr. Putin. He predicted that building a Trump Tower in Moscow would highlight Mr. Trump’s savvy negotiating skills and be a political boon to his candidacy.

“Our boy can become president of the USA and we can engineer it,” Mr. Sater wrote in an email. “I will get all of Putins team to buy in on this, I will manage this process.”

I know you all talked about this before, but I just got home, and all I want to know is are any of these motherfuckers ever going to be perp walked and sent to fucking jai?

In answer to Cole’s question, I have no idea when or if we will see the perp walk. And btw, North Korea sent a missile over Japan today. Very provocative. Evidently Tillerson’s pat on the head last week and Pence’s look of resolve across the DMZ did not achieve their goals.

I gather there is no specific statute that would outlaw collusion, unless they (we, the People, represented by Meuller) can demonstrate that they actively sought “something of value” from a foreign power? Junior obviously did this, though it might be hard to get past a jury– by which I mean it would be easy to bamboozle jurors, not that the case isn’t clear. Trump is, to my eyes, quite obviously guilty of obstruction of justice, but that only matters if enough Republicans want it to. Tax evasion? criminal fraud? money laundering? conspiracy?

FWIW, I don’t for a moment believe Fredo, Jared and the other goon met with that Russian lawyer without the Beast knowing about it, but he famously doesn’t email, so that might be hard to prove

Reuters: DPRK fires missile over Japan:

South Korea’s military said the missile was launched from the Sunan region near the North Korean capital just before 6 a.m. (2100 GMT Monday) and flew 2,700 km (1,680 miles), reaching an altitude of about 550 km (340 miles).

Japanese public broadcaster NHK reported the missile broke into three pieces and fell into waters off Hokkaido.

The Japanese military did not attempt to shoot down the missile, which passed over Japanese territory around 6:07 a.m. local time (2107 GMT).

In Washington, the Pentagon confirmed the missile flew over Japan but did not pose a threat to North America and said it was gathering further information.

And hey I’m not really about thought crime and I’m mostly a lurker but the unspoken desire for violence that is in many of your posts is a red flag for me. There are usually two groups that view violence that way. Those that haven’t experienced it and so romanticize it to a degree or the smaller group that has and loves it…. And yes this is overly simple thats why I included the slightly weasely usually.

@schrodingers_cat: by this time in Obama’s administration, republicans had convinced themselves that nothing was their fault and that they had nothing to apologize for. We had won in Iraq and everything after that was Obama giving away our victory to his radical Muslim friends during his apology tour. The financial crisis was the fault of banks being forced to lend to black people by Barney Frank and Carter ending redlining and had nothing to do with GOP regulators or white republicans. Hence the tea party started as a protest by Rick Santorelli when rumors started that Obama was looking for ways to bail out homewners, which was just another giveaway to black people. They spent their time coming up with ways to discredit Democrats, unlike Democrats who are still forcing themselves to find ways to attack each other daily.

Mueller Looks at Trump Role In Hiding Purpose of Don Jr. Meeting
    August 28, 2017 at 6:48 pm EDT

Federal investigators working for special counsel Robert Mueller are keenly focused on President Trump’s role in crafting a response to a published article about a meeting between Russians and his son Donald Jr., three sources familiar with the matter told NBC News.

The sources told NBC News that prosecutors want to know what Trump knew about the meeting and whether he sought to conceal its purpose.

At the time, the White House confirmed that Trump had ‘weighed in’ as the response to the New York Times report was drafted aboard Air Force One on July 8 as the president returned to the U.S. from Germany. the Washington Post reported that Trump had ‘dictated’ the response.

@rikyrah: Maybe if enough people say it, “Joe Arpaio, racist” can be a trending term, like George Tierney of Greenville, South Carolina.

    @rikyrah:

” NEW Arpaio’s team will put out statement asking media to stop saying he is racist; he’s been distressed by mischaracterization of reports ”

OTOH, nice to know that if Arpaio is not a racist, then he is willing to send out goon squads to round up random groups of people and throw them into concentration camps, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, political affiliation, or anything else.

So maybe Arpaio should be called something else. Maybe he won’t mind ‘fascist’ so much.
Arpaio himself called his holding centers concentration camps, so he shouldn’t be angry about anyone mentioning that.

Tillerson Moves to Cut Special Envoys including Representative for Climate Change
    August 28, 2017 at 4:01 pm EDT

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson “is moving to eliminate or downgrade special envoy positions at the State Department, including the representative for climate change, a step that is sure to ignite vociferous opposition from some members of Congress,” CNN reports.

In a letter obtained by CNN and written to Senator Bob Corker, the Tennessee Republican who heads the foreign relations committee, Tillerson said he would end or transfer as many as three dozen special envoy positions.

“I believe that the Department will be able to better execute its mission by integrating certain envoys and special representative offices within the regional and functional bureaus,” Tillerson wrote Corker, “and eliminating those that have accomplished or outlived their original purpose.”

Tillerson aide: Constitution, not Trump, ‘speaks for the country’
Special envoys for Syria, Sudan and South Sudan, and the Arctic will be eliminated.

It’s his stupidity. That rubs me the wrong way.

The stupidity offends me more, because we know ANYONE non-White who was this stupid would be clowned off the global stage.

Guffaw. The humble public servant who just wants to retire with dignity has a “team”. To do what? He doesn’t even have a job. How many people are on this team and how does he pay them? With the online solicitations he’s making?

His fans deserve to get robbed.

@Peale: So much this. We don’t do opposition nearly as effectively despite the fact that all we have to do is tell the truth. But if a tree falls in the forest and there is no media to report it…

Arpaio thought his reputation would IMPROVE when Trump pardoned him and the whole country found out about his absolutely appalling career. He thought it would get BETTER, like a Trump pardon makes his offenses disappear.

You still did all those things, moron, and now everyone in the country knows about them. The only thing that’s changed is you aren’t going to do time- you can still be loathed and despised and your name will always mean “racist”.

That’s what I love most about these people. They say they’re “in your face” assholes who enjoy being horrible but it isn’t true. They whine CONSTANTLY that they have horrible reputations and people say mean things about them.

They want to be absolute assholes and ALSO be loved. It’s not enough that Arpaio is a sadist who actually killed people who were in his custody- we’re supposed to love him for it.

@Emperor of ice cream: Having to tell the truth is a handicap. It’s why we attack each other–we can’t just pretend everyone is always on the same side, and we’re worried about everyone being honest. Lies usually beat truth in a head-to-head fight, because they can be far more appealing and easy to understand. Lies always tell you who the bad guy is.

The only advantage truth gives us is that we’re less often bitten by reality. But that’s an advantage that only matters after you win. We can’t win until lie-based government causes massive catastrophe, with huge collateral costs.

Prob Trump expected Arpaio’s pardon to slide under the Harvey news – but instead, zillions more people were online looking for hurricane news or to connect with people in harm’s way and the biggest piece of news up – un-missable – was The Pardon. Probably MORE people saw it because it came down of Harvey’s Friday night.
