There’s a new web publication that may be of interest to Juicers: Crooked Media.

It grows out of the Pod Save America podcasts and is made up of former Obama communications people and others.

    I’m a fan of their podcasts (particularly Pod Save the People and Pod Save America). It’s not just bitching about or snarking on the news; there’s always a practical takeaway about how to engage with your representatives, suggested scripts, upcoming events, etc. The Pod Save America team’s interview with HRC from last month is definitely worth a listen.

    If Randy Bryce keeps delivering that no-nonsense, straight talk in his race against Paul Ryan, he has a real shot. They played a game with an audience member trying to pick which of 3 GOP reaction quotes was said by Paul Ryan and it was starkly revealing to hear 5 Ryan shrug offs of Trump crazy in a row.

    Local activist Chris Taylor was also inspiring.

    Fox News host Tucker Carlson [Fucker Tarleton] made a bizarre claim on Thursday night — namely, that the use of bump stocks during the Las Vegas mass shooting may have actually saved lives.

    After one of his guests speculated that fewer people may have died during the Las Vegas shooting if Stephen Paddock hadn’t used bump stocks, Carlson insisted that the bump stocks may have actually saved lives.

    “Many more would’ve died actually because if you talk to people who know a lot about guns they say pros don’t even fire on fully automatic because they can’t hit anything,” Carlson insisted.

    Yeah, like he was actually aiming at particular people, rather than spraying a crowd. I fucking hate those people; the constant lying to protect their murderous ideology.

    DeRay still needs work on his voice (he tends to raise it higher at the end of a sentence, Valley Girl style), but he’s the newest one to the profession.

That might even be true if he were a trained marksman, but who knows if he was a good enough shot.     At some point this week, the Federal Emergency Management Agency removed information from its website documenting how much of the island of Puerto Rico still lacked power or access to drinking water. Instead, our Jenna Johnson reported, the federal agency was relaying only positive information, documenting how many federal workers were on the ground and the extent to which roads had been cleared.

    The reason for burying the bad news — fewer than 1 in 8 Puerto Ricans have electricity and barely over half have water — seems pretty obvious. President Trump has faced a great deal of criticism for his handling of the crisis on the island. (A poll released this week found that fewer than a third of Americans thought Trump was handling the Puerto Rico response well.) By conveying information that suggests the island is still struggling, which it very much is, FEMA would only be reinforcing that perception.

    The government of Puerto Rico, however, is updating this information at the site Status.pr. There, you’ll see regular updates on a number of metrics, including electricity, water and cellphone coverage. It’s updated regularly — although it is all in Spanish.

    We’ve taken that data for the past week or so and created a tool that will show you not only the status of each of the metrics tracked by Status.pr but also how those numbers have improved (or haven’t) over time. It updates every hour, showing the most recent numbers for any given day.

    Experts predict that it will take months to repair the electrical grid enough that most residents of the island have power. For months, then, the numbers above will be below 100 percent, a constant reminder of how much work the administration still has to do before Puerto Rican society has been restored to where it was before Hurricane Maria hit.

    FEMA would rather not broadcast that slow progress. So we will.

    Have I somehow traveled back in time and through space to find myself stuck in the old Soviet Union? At least a good majority of people think this was has handled this disaster incompetently. And that Puerto Rico bit? I cringed so hard when he did it. He was mocking the idea that when one is speaking to a group of people in a different place, they should show respect for them (like using correct pronunciation). I’m sure this was in a friendly Republican neighborhood so he wouldn’t have to face any struggling Puerto Ricans who might spit in his face and that’s why I hear cheering and laughter.

    Being a self-proclaimed gun expert I suspect those weapons, while obviously deadly from a quarter mile (or however far it was) are not accurate enough to be picking off individuals, and that’s before considering the environmental challenges and the fact that the shooter was a grumpy old dude of unknown health and no formal training. Filling the environment with lead did quite the job.

    What’s the NRA stance on civilian rotary cannons? Are they “sporting rifles” too?

    Alabama Republican Senate nominee Roy Moore’s top supporter is a hardline Confederate sympathizer with longtime ties to a secessionist group.

    Michael Anthony Peroutka has given Moore, his foundation and his campaigns well over a half-million dollars over the past decade-plus. He’s also expressed beliefs that make even Moore’s arguably theocratic anti-gay and anti-Muslim views look mainstream by comparison. Chief among them: He’s argued that the more Christian South needs to secede and form a new Biblical nation.

    …During his 2004 presidential run, Peroutka made it clear to the League of the South which side of the Mason-Dixon Line he stood on.

    “I come from Maryland, which by the way is below the Mason-Dixon Line. … We’d have seceded if they hadn’t of locked up 51 members of the legislature. And by the way, I’m still angry about that,” he told the group to applause.

    In that speech, Peroutka praised his daughter for refusing to play the Battle Hymn of the Republic in her school band, called a visit to Confederate leader Jefferson Davis’ grave “beautiful,” praised his son for calling the Confederate rebel flag the “American flag” and said he’d wished that those in the room had been there during the Civil War fighting for the South.

    “We could have used you, there should have been more of us in 1861,” he said.

    All together now: He seems nice.

    Alabama teens threatened to lynch their black classmates after a white student was punished for abusive language toward a girl who refused to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

    The girl remained seated last week during the pledge recitation to show her support for ongoing NFL protests against racism and police brutality, and a white boy was suspended for using profanity during an argument with her, reported AL.com.

    Kyler Ogden and the black student began arguing over the NFL protests in history class, and their discussion continued for several days on social media.

    “I said some things I probably should not have said, mainly the language that I used,” Ogden told WBMA-TV. “I was in no way trying to be offensive towards anyone.”

    It’s not clear what the teen said to the black girl, but many of their classmates showed up at Pell City High School flying American flags from their cars and trucks.

    That prompted a black student to post a photo of himself on social media burning an American flag, but police said that took place off school grounds, and the teen’s parents reportedly disciplined him.

    That then prompted a student to post a racist threat Wednesday on social media against black classmates.

    “Attention: All n—–s in pellcity (sic) we are warning you tomorrow is not a good day to come we are hanging everyone that comes our way tomorrow after school so I advice (sic) all of you to stay away from us or leave pellcity we can’t deal with you’re a–,” the post read.

    No, they make little dents in the outside of the tank. He would have needed something like a .50 Browning Machine Gun (BMG) chambered rifle to damage those tanks, and even that may not have penetrated enough to start a big fire, which was what he was hoping for. There’s another long-distance cartridge, the .338 Magnum Lapua, which is a Finnish sniper cartridge, which may have done that job.
