Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Since we are repeating ourselves, let me just say fuck that.

The cruelty is the point; the law be damned.

The line between political reporting and fan fiction continues to blur.

The current Supreme Court is a dangerous, rogue court.

When we show up, we win.

Mediocre white men think RFK Jr’s pathetic midlife crisis is inspirational. The bar is set so low for them, it’s subterranean.

The unpunished coup was a training exercise.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

Republicans in disarray!

This chaos was totally avoidable.

The gop is a fucking disgrace.

The republican caucus is covering themselves with something, and it is not glory.

Every reporter and pundit should have to declare if they ever vacationed with a billionaire.

Boeing: repeatedly making the case for high speed rail.

Text STOP to opt out of updates on war plans.

“When somebody takes the time to draw up a playbook, they’re gonna use it.”

I’m more christian than these people and i’m an atheist.

The real work of an opposition party is to oppose.

Republican speaker of the house Mike Johnson is the bland and smiling face of evil.

The fundamental promise of conservatism all over the world is a return to an idealized past that never existed.

There are a lot more evil idiots than evil geniuses.

Republicans do not trust women.

Washington Post Catch and Kill, not noticeably better than the Enquirer’s.

The Supreme Court cannot be allowed to become the ultimate, unaccountable arbiter of everything.

Request from party-sparker Yutsano:

Time for me to venture to the Emerald City once more!

Slight tighter deadline for set-up as I’ll be in town from the 20th to the 23rd of January. My medical stuff is the 23rd but otherwise I have zero planned at this point.

And yes this time I will check where we’re meeting so I know for sure! I will be staying downtown however so I will have some flexibility.

Leave a comment below, or email me directly at [email protected], and I’ll forward your message to Yutsano.

    Just so folks are aware, there is going to be a Women’s March on the 20th that will close off some streets downtown. I believe the route will be from Cal Anderson Park west on Pike and north on 4th Ave to Seattle Center. So traffic is likely to be pretty congested around town on Saturday.

    I was wearing an old pair of specs, and initially read that as “party-spanker Yutsano.” Fortunately, I looked more closely after that, because for a second there, I thought he finally let Government employment get to him.

    I should be up to going to a meetup by early spring. Anybody coming to New England?
    SD do you have a trip planned this year?
    Steve the Union Buster? labor lawyer?

    Yo, I have a crazy work schedule, so no guarantees, but I’m intrigued for a meet up. One thing about Seattle, there are a lot of places of good food and adequate imbibery with more popping up like rain forest mushrooms every day.

    @Tlazolteotl: So, a perfect reason for a meet-up, no?

    @efgoldman:

    Don’t have a trip planned, but haven’t ruled anything out, either. The news that you’re feeling well enough to contemplate a meet-up is certainly a fine inducement!

    If we’re talking future meetups, I’m hoping to be in Denver in mid-July (18-21) for a conference and may be available for a meetup.

    @efgoldman: all west coast so far, but hopefully will end up back in Boston when winter is over. So…July?

    I’d be interested in the Seattle meetup. May my elderly ears request someplace less noisy than the previous 2 locations? Jackal conversations are too much fun to miss!

    @efgoldman:
    That might be interesting! I could make Boston and head down to DC to see the Wall and the Smithsonian. Maybe I could celebrate the shtgibbon’s complete and utter losing. Now that would be a trip, a threefer.
