Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Republicans do not pay their debts.

Red lights blinking on democracy’s dashboard

Is it negotiation when the other party actually wants to shoot the hostage?

Eh, that’s media spin. biden’s health is fine and he’s doing a good job.

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

Their freedom requires your slavery.

When do we start airlifting the women and children out of Texas?

The revolution will be supervised.

Authoritarian republicans are opposed to freedom for the rest of us.

And we’re all out of bubblegum.

And now I have baud making fun of me. this day can’t get worse.

Roe isn’t about choice, it’s about freedom.

No one could have predicted…

Putting aside our relentless self-interest because the moral imperative is crystal clear.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

Today’s GOP: why go just far enough when too far is right there?

The worst democrat is better than the best republican.

Black Jesus loves a paper trail.

Is it irresponsible to speculate? It is irresponsible not to.

This really is a full service blog.

Technically true, but collectively nonsense

Accountability, motherfuckers.

This blog will pay for itself.

Being the leader of the world means to be the leader of peace.

The president of the United States would like you to know that he has given thought to committing the worst genocide in human history, but decided to go in a different direction. https://t.co/nwSsZRZTIq

— Paul Waldman (@paulwaldman1) July 22, 2019

Trump later boasted at length about how big a hole in the ground and how loud a noise his "Mother of All Bombs" made in Afghanistan in 2017, then claimed, "They were going to make many of them, and I said no. We don't have – I don't want to drop that. I don't want to do that."

— Daniel Dale (@ddale8) July 22, 2019

“I do not want to kill 10 million people. Surely that’s worth a Nobel Peace Prize”.

— JKRamon ?? (@jkramon1313) July 22, 2019

Is he aware we’re not at war with Afghanistan per se

— Tom Hitchner (@thitchner) July 22, 2019

what if the president has sat through like 200 meetings with the joint chiefs thinking that the problem is that we havent been able to crush the army of afghanistan

— the norms misser (@cd_hooks) July 22, 2019

We so rarely talk about how Trump's hard-on for war crimes jeopardizes US troops overseas. Green-on-Blue attacks have been the biggest threat for years and he's out here shouting to every Afghan soldier, cop and allied militia that he has plans to nuke their families.

@Plato: Yep. Susan Sarandon told us that over and over again. And too many silly people believed her.

I wish the military leaders would condemn Trump’s reckless warmongering. It’s dangerous and puts our soldiers at risk for attacks.

And this is one of the reasons why I’m still awake at 2 AM. Some nights all my nightmares are happening when I’m awake. I still feel that I tripped over a crack in the sidewalk back in 2015 and somehow slipped into a horrific parallel universe.

He’s like a sullen, dull-witted 9 year old playing with toy soldiers.

Worse, his equally destructive cousin comes over to play and make a mess all over the place.

In this case, the spoiled, destructive cousin is Boris Johnson, who likely will become the new UK prime minister in a few hours.

Don’t get your take. From the article, this Trump throwing gasoline on another fire, trying get more attention. How many times has Trump lied about people asking him to do this or that? Fucking asshole.

Neither India nor Pakistan has ever asked for a third party intermediary to settle things between them.

And India would choose Trump after almost 72 years? What complete and total bullshit.

It’s one of those times you can hear in his babbling the echo of a conversation he had with someone with a functioning brain. “Yes, Mr. president, you could use the atomic bombs but…” I imagine they convinced him it would be bad for his ratings.

What a hideous man – inside and out. To so dismissively say he could have inflicted a nuclear radiation bath on most of SE Asia to achieve “victory” in Afghanistan by vaporizing millions of human beings is chilling. In addition, his personal coloration is even more garish than usual, some odd mixture of orange and sienna on his cheeks and wispy platinum blonde hair with a horrific pink scalp that looks like a chihuahua’s ass. This monster belongs in the trash heap of history!
