Not to step on Anne Laurie – but this is probably the only chance I’ll have of participating in this thread before falling sound asleep. ??
I just finished watching this and I feel so much better. I highly recommend it.
As for me, I am doing much better and well past 14 days without symptoms. That being said, the fatigue is fierce and while I can do a lot, I am nowhere near able to do what I could a month ago. Yesterday it was walking the dogs and move a rosebush, and then I was done for the day. I am doing what I can to rebuild my strength each day – a little time on the spin cycle, lots of stretching to counteract all the couch time. I am now (finally) scheduled for my antibodies test – after being thwarted at every turn trying to get a Covid-19 test. There were some scary days, but I as I said before, so grateful for the mild version I seemed to have ridden out. I can’t imagine how much worse it could have been.
Here’s a photo of Bixby enjoying himself on a beautiful spring morning:
Bad photo, but love how he’s just in mid-stride, not a care in the world. The entire time I was sick, he was glued to my hip. And let me tell you, when you are tired and oxygen-deprived, trying to move a damn 160 lb dog out of your way is impossible. LOL
There is a lot of crap going on and so much I want to rage about, but I figure we can all use a bit of respite and I need to keep my blood pressure down. So..
Respite open thread. Tell me something good.

We were thinking of watching this for family movie night tonight, but settled on “Extraction” instead.
(Don’t look at me, I don’t make the rules…it was Fro Jr’s night to pick the movie)
But thanks for the recommendation, we’ll be watching this before the week is out!

Daughter visited for the weekend after careful isolation. Mothers Day was awesome. Looking forward to Graduate Together on Saturday.

Also, looks like Bryan Adams is trending on Twitter after firing off about not being able start his ‘residency’ at the Royal Albert Hall tonight.
Here Bryan, have a hug.
West of the Cascades
I got to do a long socially-distanced hike yesterday with a dear friend whose mother passed away unexpectedly a couple of months ago (in the Before Time). The hike and the companionship and feeling like it was a helpful distraction were really great.

Think I’ll watch this on Amazon Prime tonight. It doesn’t have great reviews, but Galaxy Quest is one of my favorite movies.
TaMara (HFG)
@West of the Cascades: I had a socially distant coffee date end of last week and two socially distant business meetings. It was…awesome. Even with the distance and masks.
Mary G
@Jeffro: He’s getting the dragging he deserves.
Jeffro
@Mary G: I’m sure it cuts like a knife…

@Jeffro:
I wouldn’t have thought the Royal Albert Hall was the British equivalent of the third night of a state fair, but….

@Jeffro:

Glad to hear you are well on the mend! I missed when you got sick, do you care to recap how that happened at all?
TaMara (HFG)
…and with that, I’m probably done for a bit. I’ll check back.

I watched ‘Becoming’ over the weekend. It was quite moving and enlightening.
And here’s a Slainte! for you, TaMara.
Benw
@Mary G: it’s a classic! How did they not make the doc title “By Grabthar’s Hammer”!?!
James E Powell
@Jeffro:
He’s getting dragged because he is blaming it all on wet markets in China or something like that.
NotMax
@Mary G
You’ll probably then also like The Adventures of Captain Zoom in Outer Space. A galaxy quest before there was Galaxy Quest.
Goofy fun.
;)
Mary G
@NotMax: Thanks, goofy sounds fun right now.
Steeplejack
Michelle Obama, two l’s.

@Jim, Foolish Literalist: I know, right?
I think he did a tour with Billy Idol a year or two ago. I still like hearing their songs once in a while, but that’s just an odd pairing.
Dave Grohl had an op-ed published today about the power of live rock-and-roll and so I’m glad that he, at least, is trending for the right reasons.

We set out our tomato plants and zucchini in the raised beds today, and ate our first strawberry of the season – there was only one so I had to cut it in half to share with my husband. It tasted like sunshine! Yesterday I had an hour Echo Show session with my daughter for Mother’s Day. Not a bad two days!
So glad to hear you’re feeling better!

We made some delicious tacos tonight with buffalo, jalapeños, onion and corn, with cabbage, avocado, salsa and sour cream. Today’s grocery delivery brought it all together. I am super fortunate to be able to stay at home for the most part.

Glad that you are feeling better and thanks for your posts here!

@Jeffro: I liked Idol more than Adams, though I never bought any music by either, I don’t think, and there are some songs I disliked when they came out that now give me a certain nostalgia rush, and I somehow remember all (or most) of the words….
old rockers make up some weird double bills, Chrissy Hynde and Stevie Nicks always made me picture Chrissy stealing Stevie’s lunch money behind the venue after the show, and I think Chrissy Hynde toured with Journey or someone like that last year
danielx
@Jeffro:
Could be worse – I once saw a show at a venue which was ordinarily a 5/8 mile dirt track, at which the headliner was Johnny Winter and the two opening acts were Frampton’s Camel and John Mclaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra. Whoever came up with that billing……
laura
@danielx: I’m guessing that was Bill Graham show based on this Winterland line up:
Winterland, San Francisco, CA
Johnny Winter, Foghat, Frampton’s Camel

It’s great to hear you’re feeling better!
Watching the “Becoming” trailer, seeing those women and girls, all I can say is that WOC look to be the strongest and sanest people around – not just in the Democratic Party, I mean, but generally.

I might have to start that Netflix trial soon, before the backlog gets too big.
May 11 a fine day in music, etc.: Irving Berlin, Martha Graham, and William Grant Still (“Festive Overture for Orchestra”).

Didn’t know you had COViD19 Tamara. Hope you recover fully and quickly. Anybody hear anything on Rusty’s son? I just feel like a Damocles sword hanging in my close and extended family with COVID. I have a bunch of older aunts and uncles who have comorbidities, in addition to that there’s a younger cousin who had surgery and finished treatment for a spinal mass late last year. Several cousins with history of breast cancer. Most live in dense cities. A few work in healthcare . I feel like its just a matter of time before it gets one of us.
Mary G
@Mai naem mobile: Rusty posted that he son continued to test negative for COVID19, and after a lot of tests, the doctors concluded that he has an atypical strep infection, so he was relieved.

Shit – the dog just woke me up with a seizure. He had one a few years ago, more violent, twice in the same night. This time, he started flopping on the. bedroom floor, I jumped down and held him in place to calm him. Won’t drink – looked really vacant a few minutes but now appears to have his wits back. He’s laying down next to my side of the bed.

@Mary G:
Tty “Upload” – we binged it all on Sunday.

TBogg has a new basset. That is all one needs to know.

@Mai naem mobile:
Rusty’s update from Monday morning.

@laura:
That lineup would work. Sandwiching McLaughlin between Frampton and Johnny Winter….no. Just no.
Frampton is a pretty decent guitarist and with that his light, pop songs went over okay with the crowd. Then John McLaughlin, a spectacular guitarist, gets up and is all serious and spiritual and the crowd, which appeared to include a lot of people on ‘ludes, were all “FUCK YOU LET’S BOOGIE”….etc. 90 degrees and a few miles from the Ohio River in July…it was awful.

We have been watching Nadiya’s Time To Eat and gleefully been following her recipes to create mass quantities of yummy goodness. We made her egg rolls and instant noodles. A tweaked Wellington is on the list…
Oh, and I made my mother’s cherry cobbler but jazzed up with brown sugar, buttermilk, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice.
mrmoshpotato
@trollhattan: Also constantly rolls eyes. :)

I might watch Becoming again before bed.
Mai naem mobile
@Steeplejack: oh, thanks for looking that up. I am so glad for Rusty and his family. Hopefully the kid is out of the hospital soon and recovered.
Mai naem mobile
@Mary G: thx for the update.
@trollhattan: Jeez, i clicked the link thinking he got another dog. He’s had Ripley for a while. He’s even sent Ripley to Camp Studly. Every time Tbogg gets a new dog or has a dog go to Rainbow Bridge I feel older than dirt. I’ve been reading his stuff since before Satchmo died.

@Le Comte de Monte Cristo, fka Edmund Dantes:
A few weeks ago my neighbor’s dog had something. Seemed like a TIA or even a stroke. For about a week after that she walked in circles always counterclockwise. She seems to have recovered OK. This was the same time her owner was getting a lot worse, and then he died. His wife seems to be doing OK, she had been spending every moment taking care of him, as he’d been sick for some time.

Perennial flowering Bleeding Heart bushes, Violas, and Forget-Me-Nots bloom through the snow and frosts of recent days here is WNY. Keeps me smiling.
Skepticat
@Ruckus: I hate to tell you from extremely painful experience that a pet walking in circles usually means a brain tumor.

Good to hear you’re feeling better!
