Token non-political content, via commentor Nicole, here’s “Chowder“:
This sweet, approximately 1 year old little girl was found in the Conservatory Garden near Central Park North. She was likely someone’s pet, as she’s litter trained, and very amenable to indoor life. She’s spayed and had all her shots, all she needs now is a new home. My dominant male tabby wants nothing to do with her, though she was friendly with him :)
If you’re interested in Chowder, or know someone who might be, let me know (you can email me at annelaurie dot verizon dot net, or click on my name in the right-hand column) and I’ll put you in touch with the lady who’s fostering her.

Pretty girl! Sadly, we’re on the opposite coast. Maybe commenter La Catarina might have some leads? I think she does NYC cat rescue.
I bet your tabby boy doesn’t like her because he knows girl cats are bossy. :-)

Love the name. Good luck. She is a sweet one.

I shared this on Facebook; I hope someone bites. If I were closer I might consider seeing if she got along with my two cats, but it’s a little far to take that risk (and two cats in our apartment is just enough at the moment). She’s beautiful and I hope she finds a home.

FB’d and tweeted. Hope Chowder finds a forever home soon.

Beautiful girl — good luck!

Does the commenter want to keep Chowder? ‘Cuz there might be a way.
Of course, other issues could create barriers. Good luck to a sweet darling!
Also, has she been checked for a chip?

Its been incredibly stressful at work the last couple of weeks & I have been spending too many hours at the phone bank. I knew I was reaching the end of my rope but I didn’t know how close until I teared up over a stupid cat in NYC. She looks adorable, I wish I could fly her here.
At least the phone crap is over today I have just stressed over how its going to be with Majority Leader McAsshole is in charge & the GOP majority is even fucking bigger with more insane nutjobs. Work my break me but it should go back to normal some time next week.
If you have not voted yet get off your dead ass and do it now – better to die on your feet than live on your knees

I would so take chowder if I weren’t heavy into the feeding, trapping and caring for feral cats that live near my work. She has a very sweet little face and I wouldn’t mind having another female around.
My kids texted me from the polls today. They said the lines were really long and it took them about an hour and a half to vote. That is not the normal mid term voter turnout.

Can’t help Chowder – I’ve got my own abandonment rescue to cope with. (She was left, in pet carrier, behind the pet store in the middle of the night in the rain. She’s doing OK so far.)

[‘Cute kitty though.’]

She looks sweet. I’ve been wanting a cat. I’m going to e-mail Anne Laurie.

Nicole may want to reach out to Infinite Hope (http://www.hopevet.com/dog-puppy-cat-kitten-adoption.html) a Brooklyn based no-kill pet adoption service. Perhaps they can help with finding a forever home.

@PurpleGirl: Go…. CHOWDER!

@PurpleGirl:
She is sweet, she is sweet, she is sweet. Go for it! You will never regret it.

@PurpleGirl: For what it’s worth, my friend really wanted to keep Chowder, but her neutered male, Clove, really is a HUGE personality and wants to be an only cat. For my overworked, incredibly busy friend to have even tried to make it work with her, is an indication of how sweet this little girl is. I think she’ll make a terrific pet.
As for me, if I were to take in a cat, it would become Exhibit A in my husband’s murder trial, as he is literally that allergic to them. Much to our 4-year-old’s disappointment. Too bad, as while our shelter dog is not good with other dogs, she is actually not bad at all around cats. Go figure.

And thank you, Anne Laurie! Very much appreciated.

I’m back from voting and watching the Building 4 library. Thank you to everyone who wrote to encourage me adopt Chowder. I wrote to Anne Laurie before leaving to vote.

@PurpleGirl: Think how much fun it will be talking to her in a Boston accent.
At least, that is what I would do :)

@WereBear: Lord, that made me laugh!!
Chow-da!!

Sorry Anne, I’ve got troubles of my own. In my quiet neighborhood I rescued a mother cat and her nursing kitten about 10 days ago. Both affectionate without feral behavior but no takers even after my offering to pay for shots and spaying/eventual neutering. My old territorial male cat is fiercely unhappy and I’m keeping them apart. Next week it’s off to a no-kill, no-cage shelter. I’ll miss them, especially the little guy, but I’m totally stressed out.
