From commentor Ross F:
I have relatives in Columbus, Ohio who are looking for someone to adopt their cat. They’ve been having difficulty finding a new home and the local humane society was sadly pessimistic. Unfortunately, my relatives have to move and the cat cannot come with them. I’ve included a picture and some description below. Any help would be super awesome.

Miss Kitty:
White cat with calico patches — 7 years old — Very gentle
Neutered — Front paws declawed
Shots up to date — Good health — Eats dry food
Likes to talk — Likes to sit in your lap — Likes to be scratched
Anybody in the Columbus area got tips about rescue groups or no-kill shelters that might have room for one more? Or maybe even leads to someone who’s looking for a new feline housemate?
Sue
If only we lived within driving distance, Miss Kitty would spend tomorrow and the rest of her life on my lap!

Sent the link to my sis, who lives in Columbus.
Sweet kitty. Good luck.

Ross, what a sweetie and please keep us informed about Miss Kitty. Hopefully she finds a new home soon.

Check with senior groups in your area; posters in the library, too.
I’m betting there’s a lonely senior who would love to have this cat.

I’d say Miss Kitty would be an excellent edition to a good home; mostly because she doesn’t seem to have the “Eye of the Tuncher”. No need for the owners to sleep with one eye open.

@Sue: maybe the owners would be willing to get the cat to you? I have two who don’t like each other, can’t subject a third to the drama yet.

Aw, declawed, too! I would never do that to a kitty but lots of people would find that a selling point. I’ve passed the link on to some folks I know …

Miss Kitty could be Tunch’s long lost sister.

Is there any way for someone to e mail me directly? I live in Columbus & have been considering a new cat–am very interested in this sweetie!

If you know anyone at the OSU Vet school, send and email and picture to them. Lots of animals connections there.

Try Colony Cats in Columbus, Ohio.

@Sue, if you’re not too far from Columbus, there are people who actually volunteer to transport animals to new homes. If you want Miss Kitty, I’m sure something can be arranged.

The first thing that jumps out at me is that this is a very adoptable cat. Calicos are popular, she’s clearly a gorgeous cat, and the fact that she’s declawed, as much as I abhor the practice, will make her even more in demand.
@Sue, if you’re really interested in her, maybe we could find a way to get her to you?
Also, perhaps try this group:

What a beautiful cat. I do hope she finds a home. My mother’s cat is elderly and I think adding a new cat would be just too much, as much as this would make a wonderful new addition to the family.
Not to pick nits, but technically, it’s a calico cat with white patches, not a white cat with calico patches. In domestic short hairs, white spotting pretty much goes on last in cat coloring.

NYT:
“But some blogging services like Tumblr and WordPress seem to have avoided the decline. Tom Schneider, chief executive of Automatic, the company that commercializes the WordPress blogging software, explains that WordPress is mostly for serious bloggers, not the younger users who are defecting to social networking.”
The snark writes itself…
(Not that the people here aren’t “serious bloggers” but that only serious bloggers would put up with FYWP in the first place)
Yes, the cat is gorgeous.

Thanks for the help, everyone. If people want to contact me, they can write to [email protected].
As for the declawing: it was done by her first home. My relatives adopted her when she was orphaned by the owner’s death.
@sue, how far away?
@columbusqueen, send me an email!
Again, thanks everyone. Miss Kitty appreciates the support!

I have two mighty beasts in my tiny li’l apartment now only because I was able to convince the landlord that I wouldn’t add more.
But if there’s a way to pitch in some shekels or otherwise help someone else provide a home for her, I’m in.

Aw, she’s beautiful! Good luck finding her a good home.

Please let us know what happens! Looks like you have some good leads here.

Try calling Pets Without Parents. They are a local no-kill shelter. (614) 267-PAWS [7297]

I am astounded that no one has mentioned the Cat Welfare Association, http://www.catwelfareohio.org .

It may be an hour to the North but Stop the overpopulation of pets (STOP) in Mansfield, OH is also a no kill shelter run by some very wonderful women… if we didn’t already have four…..

Well, Miss Kitty is here now as of Sat.–she definitely likes men more than women, so my boyfriend’s gettin’ more love than me for the moment. Am hoping she starts accepting the other two cats at some point, but of course patience is the name of the game. Will keep everyone posted on our progress!

@columbusqueen: Hooray! Looks like a happy ending. Great news, and the best of luck to all of you.
