An email from reader Marcelo in Austin:
I just wanted to let you know that the dachsund/corgi mix I emailed you about way back when has found a forever home with one of your awesome Balloon Juice readers! We passed her over this morning to an Austin-area BJ reader in a visit that had as much bittersweet tears as it did satisfaction at such a happy ending. It’s been a fun few weeks fostering the dog and giving her all the love we could, and my wife and I are so thrilled at all the offers we received for housing – some readers even offered to come from as far away as Albuquerque, NM and Spokane, WA to pick up the dog! – it’s really reinvigorated my faith in humanity and my belief that there’s good in the world. I just wanted to thank you for putting her picture up on the front page and helping us find her a home, everyone who commented on the thread with advice and support and everyone who offered to add this wonderful dog to their family. It was truly amazing.
Good to know.

I hope our BJ reader-new dog owner identifies themselves so we can say a proper thank you and keep up with this cutie’s progress. Now I need to clean my contacts they seem to have ‘fogged’ over.
Between this and the video of the Korea’s Got Talent contestant I’m done in for the day.

There we go — to hell with all the Bobos, a forever home for a doggie, FTW!

Stuckinred, are you still here? I wanted to ask you about doggie chemotherapy. Didn’t you mention once that your dog had chemo? My friend’s dog was diagnosed with lymphoma 2 weeks ago, they did tests and discovered it’s the really slow growing kind, Did blood tests and said her blood work looked awesome, no reason not to do chemo.
Chemo started last Thursday, she was really sick on Saturday and Sunday, today she had to be put to sleep because her organs were failing and she was bleeding internally. Bear (the dog) lived with me for awhile a couple years ago and I love her like my own, so I am heartbroken.
But dead in 4 days after one round of chemo? How is this possible?

I have a pet rescue bleg for a friend. After Easter, animal shelters fill up with bunnies. San Jose Animal Care Center is no exception. They could place a lot more rabbits if they had more cages in their visiting area suitable for them. Pet Awareness and Welfare Society for SJACS (http://www.paws4sjacs.org/) is trying to raise money to get cages for them. PAWS is a great organization that works with the shelter to place animals, organize spay/neuter days, etc. Donations can be sent to PAWS, designated for the Rabbit Fund.

Happy puppeh story is happy.
@TaMara (BHF): Holy cwap that was good. It would only break my heart if the story turned out to be false somehow.

@WaterGirl: Sorry but I went to bed. I’m not a vet but we learned a lot about it when Boo-boo went through it. Cancer drugs are extremely potent, poison if you will, and there is always a chance they won’t make it. We we stunned by how sick it made our pup and we say we wouldn’t do it again if and when the time comes for Bodhi or Lil Bit. I’m sorry for your friend but they must have warned her and I bet the paperwork indicated a significant risk.

I love to hear happy news like this. It does my heart good. Thank you.

I lost my first Westie a couple days after one round of chemo, so yes, sadly, it can happen.

I want to call that mix a “cor-hound”, just for the WoW reference…

@stuckinred: Thanks, Stuckinred. Actually, my friend had already decided not to do it, but the vet’s exact words were “she’s in great shape, her blood work is great, there’s no reason not to try it”. So against her gut instinct, my friend changed her decision. I feel like the vet really failed her on this, but of course I can’t say that to my friend. It’s just heartbreaking,
@marianne19: That’s so awful. I’m so sorry. If I am ever faced with that decision with any of my guys, I believe I will now make a completely different decision than I might have a week ago.
