Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Lick the third rail, it tastes like chocolate!

If you voted for Trump, you don’t get to speak about ethics, morals, or rule of law.

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

Let the trolls come, and then ignore them. that’s the worst thing you can do to a troll.

The world has changed, and neither one recognizes it.

I really should read my own blog.

Not rolling over. fuck you, make me.

We will not go back.

You’re just a puppy masquerading as an old coot.

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

One of our two political parties is a cult whose leader admires Vladimir Putin.

Celebrate the fucking wins.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires.

Compromise? There is no middle ground between a firefighter and an arsonist.

Narcissists are always shocked to discover other people have agency.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

Not loving this new fraud based economy.

“The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.”

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

Come on, man.

A snarling mass of vitriolic jackals

The lights are all blinking red.

Quote tweet friends, screenshot enemies.

Dispatches From the People’s Republic of Madison

I’ve been to a Laotian restaurant and had a kickass papaya salad.

Saw a free concert at the lake.

Was shuttled around by an openly communist union taxi organization (and it was the best fucking cab company I have ever dealt with, ever, I might add).

Chilled for a good while with with a bunch of random long hairs playing instruments.

Got into an argument with hippies who told me I lacked perspective and that Obama was wildly more progressive than he got credit for and that yes, Russ Feingold shit the bed on financial reform but that he was still a good guy and worth my support.

I kind of like this place. But then again, I’m easy going. It’s you fuckers who are the problem.

Give this story to Luke Russert

I wish this daughter of a prominent, mean-spirited, vindictive and painfully hypocritical Republican politician no ill will. I knew kids who shoplifted where it was a way of acting out/cry for help and if this is the case here, I hope this young woman gets the help she needs. Anyway, the reaction of the store employees is no surprise:

The daughter of New York’s toughest-talking, law-and-order mayor was arrested for petty larceny and hauled out of the store in handcuffs. She was taken to the 19th Precinct stationhouse, where she was expected to be issued a desk appearance ticket.

Once store employees learned who the suspect’s father is, they told cops they didn’t want to press charges, a source said.

The Eagle Has Landed

Or the turkey, depending on your opinion of me. I am now safe and secure in my out of state bunker in an undisclosed location. Because I am not paying for it, the thermostat is on 60 and I am sitting on the window unit airing my particulars out, because after multiple flights I’m pretty damned miserable hot. After a shower, it will be time for complimentary cocktails. I’m glad they are free, because I left my toiletry bag at home and now have to go buy a 70 dollar toothbrush downstairs.

I hope you all are being nice to Erik. Remember, just because someone disagrees with you does not make them a horrible person. Unless you disagree with me, in which case you are both wrong and an asshole. But back to the point- let’s try to be a little more open-minded to a conservative posting here than Red State would be to a liberal.

Already miss my dogs, and the person who is house-sitting for me has already called to inform me that Rosie growls, snarls, and is hostile towards him as he tries to let her out of the crate. Wait til he meets Tunch. Good thing I have insurance for anyone injured in my home.

*** Update ***

Went to a Laotian restaurant for dinner. Couple Singhas, some papaya salad, and an order of khua mee later, and I feel like ten bucks.
