Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Consistently wrong since 2002

She burned that motherfucker down, and I am so here for it. Thank you, Caroline Kennedy.

Oh FFS you might as well trust a 6-year-old with a flamethrower.

Give the craziest people you know everything they want and hope they don’t ask for more? Great plan.

Come on, man.

A norm that restrains only one side really is not a norm – it is a trap.

Accountability, motherfuckers.

This chaos was totally avoidable.

If ‘weird’ was the finish line, they ran through the tape and kept running.

One of our two political parties is a cult whose leader admires Vladimir Putin.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

They don’t have outfits that big. nor codpieces that small.

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

An almost top 10,000 blog!

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

Sadly, there is no cure for stupid.

A tremendous foreign policy asset… to all of our adversaries.

The willow is too close to the house.

A snarling mass of vitriolic jackals

He seems like a smart guy, but JFC, what a dick!

The most dangerous place for a black man in America is in a white man’s imagination.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires.

Checking in quickly before the wife catches me using the computer. Fortunately nothing interesting has happened since I left*.

For a fun diversion, see if you can identify the hummingbird species in this pic. Bonus points for anybody who can guess more or less where I am.

(*) Except for that Gonzales thing. If we have a pool going, chalk me up for a Harriet Miers recess appointment.

A Quick Observation

by John Cole|  August 28, 20075:21 pm| 87 Comments

Something that has gone undiscussed regarding this whole affair is the apparent professionalism of the Minnesota constables. If this had happened in many other jurisdictions, the press would have been tipped off, there would have been a perp walk, etc. I can’t believe it went three months without being uncovered.

Instead, the police here seem to have gone about their business, even with Craig acting like a jerk, and treated Craig like any other citizen caught cruising airport bathrooms.

*** Update ***

Apparently it is a gay thing, so I am not the most naive person on the planet.

*** Update ***

Thank GOD I am not the only one. ( and of course I don’t think being gay is the same as being a pedophile, but I AM relieved I was not the only person on the planet who was unaware how widespread this bathroom cruising thing is.)

Drudge Sure Is Having Fun

In the top left corner at Drudge:

BROKEBACK BATHROOM: SENATOR BUSTED IN AIRPORT SEX STING…
CRAIG’S LIST: TERROR IN THE TOILETS…
His Own Private Idaho…

No siren, though.

*** Update ***

Ugh:

In an interview on May 14, Craig told the Idaho Statesman he’d never engaged in sex with a man or solicited sex with a man. The Craig interview was the culmination of a Statesman investigation that began after a blogger accused Craig of homosexual sex in October. Over five months, the Statesman examined rumors about Craig dating to his college days and his 1982 pre-emptive denial that he had sex with underage congressional pages.

The most serious finding by the Statesman was the report by a professional man with close ties to Republican officials. The 40-year-old man reported having oral sex with Craig at Washington’s Union Station, probably in 2004. The Statesman also spoke with a man who said Craig made a sexual advance toward him at the University of Idaho in 1967 and a man who said Craig “cruised” him for sex in 1994 at the REI store in Boise. The Statesman also explored dozens of allegations that proved untrue, unclear or unverifiable.

Craig, 62, was elected to Congress in 1980. Should he win re-election in 2008 and complete his term, he would be the longest-serving Idahoan ever in Congress. His record includes a series of votes against gay rights and his support of a 2006 amendment to the Idaho Constitution that bars gay marriage and civil unions.

No one should have to endure that. They really shouldn’t.

*** Update ***

And in case you were wondering, lewd conduct warrants a resignation, prostitution does not. If only Craig had the foresight to solicit gay prostitutes.

Hot As Hell

I don’t have time to post anything other than the observation that it is hot as hell outside.

I got halfway to the bus stop, and considered turning around and going back home to get another shirt to replace the one I had sweat through.

Yeah. That hot. I hate this shit. I want to live where it is 65 degrees year round.

The Picture Says It All

This is going to be disastrous:

It looks like something out of a sci-fi movie almost- a large, powerful, and uncontrollable mass is about to swallow Jamaica, and, perhaps, Cuba, whole.

And I am not talking about Michael Moore.

It’s going to Granada, then St. Vincent’s, then Puerto Rico, then the Dominican, then Jamaica, then RAWRRRR.

This is going to be a disaster. 150mph winds. Cripes.

Vintage XBox

I spent some time cleaning my living room this afternoon, and saw my old Xbox (I never got a 360 and doubt I will), and just for fun, I plugged it in and fired up an old game. Long story short- my living room is still dirty, and I just lost three hours to Jade Empire.

At any rate, what was the best Xbox game ever- my money is on Jade Empire, Ninja Gaiden, or KOTOR. KOTOR may simply be the greatest console game ever, now that I think about it.

Oh, yeah- I tried out Second Life and it is just bizarre. Hopefully, some of the ladies here will make some clothes for my avatar, as I was wearing boxer shorts and a Cowboy hat for a while.
