BTW- my mother and brother were at this game last night, and because they are masochists, they did not leave when it was 10-4 St. Louis.
Lucky them, as the Pirates won 12-11 in the tenth.

I know, I know. That is like asking “How much is infinity?” So while an exact measurement of the idiocy at this last bastion of Hillary support is, shall we say, difficult to attain, I can report that they are stupid enough that they took this spoof at FDL seriously:
I know we’re not supposed to directly quote AP stories without paying them serious cash, but this story is so important and has such major ramifications for this election — which will of course decide the leader of the free world — that I feel it vital to get this information out there immediately. The AP is to be praised for their tough-minded professional journalism.
See for yourself:
It simply does not get any better than this. I might as well shut down this blog, because there will never be anything better than this. I have screenshots of the rest for when they inevitably disappear it, but you might want to chronicle some of the comments.
Such luck- I fell asleep on the couch, woke up to go to bed, but needed to turn off the lights in the office, and while in there I stumbled across this at memeorandum. What a score.

Still not getting it. Someone please tell her that even the author of the FDL piece acknowledges it is a spoof.

Hot as hell outside, and humid to boot, I am cranky, and there are absolutely no movies I want to watch, and I am not in the mood to read.
Looks like it is a healthy dose of WSG.

…by deporting people who clearly should not be here:
Allie Mulvihill may seem like your typical American teenager, but she has something weighing on her mind that most 15-year-olds do not: deportation.
U.S. immigration officials are questioning the legitimacy of the Guatemala native’s adoption by her parents, Lori and Scott Mulvihill, in 1994.
When the Mulvihills brought their then 2-year-old daughter to their home in Allentown, Pennsylvania, they believed she would be granted citizenship.
But U.S. immigration officials questioned whether the woman who gave Allie up for adoption in Guatemala was really her biological mother. Allie’s birth certificate was issued 10 months after she was born, which raised suspicions in U.S. officials’ minds that she was made available for adoption due to a baby trafficking scheme.
This is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve heard in a long time. I don’t really care about the circumstances of her adoption, although it should definitely be investigated. This young girl is every bit as American as her friends. America is all she knows. Deporting her would be traumatic. She knows nothing of life in Guatemala. Even considering deportation is fucking heartless, and is just one more example of the uselessness of the Department of Homeland Security.
CNN contacted the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services about Allie’s situation. Bill Wright, deputy press secretary of the USCIS, responded with a statement, saying, “Even in the most sympathetic of situations, such as this, we do not get to selectively dismiss our immigration laws. USCIS has been trying to work the Mulvihill family, and we continue to urge them to provide evidence that this minor is eligible for permanent residency.”
What a clusterfuck.

A number of various polls out there– Newsweek has Obama up by 3 (down from the absurd +15 last month with a notable change in sampling), Gallup has him up by 6, CNN by eight.
I will say this once, and then move on- I don’t care about any polling until after the convention, and any poll that has Obama up by over six seems wildly unrealistic. While this is a bad year for the Republicans, the fundamentals of the electorate have not changed that much, in my view. Look at the GOP response to date- they hate McCain, but are rallied around beating Obama. There is a significant portion of the electorate who may hate Bush, but who will never vote for Obama under any circumstance.
Long story short- don’t trust any polls right now. Things will change.

I should probably also note- anyone stating that the move from +15 in the Newsweek poll in June to +3 now is a sign of anything is engaging in pure wankery, and has no understanding of the concept “outliers.”

Tony Snow has died at the age of 53.
You know the drill, if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.
Fifty-three is just way too damned young, especially for a man with a family. Terrible. And, I should note, despite what you thought of Snow, he was the only competent Press Secretary of this administration. Perino is a dim partisan bulb, McClellan was in way over his head, and Fleischer was equally horrid.

I feel like dancing:
Starting my weekend right by refusing to watch the bobbleheads on cable. You all have a good one tonight.
