Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

In after Baud. Damn.

There are times when telling just part of the truth is effectively a lie.

JFC, are there no editors left at that goddamn rag?

Keep the Immigrants and deport the fascists!

The lights are all blinking red.

Radicalized white males who support Trump are pitching a tent in the abyss.

Fucking consultants! (of the political variety)

Stand up, dammit!

A snarling mass of vitriolic jackals

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

And now I have baud making fun of me. this day can’t get worse.

You cannot shame the shameless.

The words do not have to be perfect.

I don’t recall signing up for living in a dystopian sci-fi novel.

We will not go back.

Trump’s cabinet: like a magic 8 ball that only gives wrong answers.

Disagreements are healthy; personal attacks are not.

GOP baffled that ‘we don’t care if you die’ is not a winning slogan.

It is possible to do the right thing without the promise of a cookie.

Republicans don’t lie to be believed, they lie to be repeated.

Jack be nimble, jack be quick, hurry up and indict this prick.

This chaos was totally avoidable.

Historically it was a little unusual for the president to be an incoherent babbling moron.

If ‘weird’ was the finish line, they ran through the tape and kept running.

Too good not to highlight, and I most sincerely hope that by tomorrow it’ll be out of date.

What else is on the agenda for the Last Dash Xmas Run-Up?

    Dear Santa,

It seems, especially given that the suspected MS has now been made official by a neurologist of that specialty reading the MRI and nodding, “yes, active lesions, here and here, with a smaller one here – see?” that I’m in need of a personal assistant. The ideal qualifications are the face of Johnny Depp, the soul of Dennis Banks, the brain of Richard Feynman, the culinary ability of Marco Pierre White, along with the soft tenor and complex flatpicking skills of Dave Rawlings. An added bonus would be the wit of Oscar Wilde combined with the fluid prose of David Foster Wallace, and the body of Roberto Baggio. Duties to include all household management and weekly massage therapy; extra compensation for gardening assistance. Must love animals.

I’ve been pretty good this year, despite any rumors to the contrary that you might have heard.

    Bella

PS – Mr. Q will pay top dollar if the above personal assistant is a better housekeeper than I am currently.

I fail to qualify in any of those respects*; but if an abundance of good wishes is of any use to you, please help yourself. I’ve got lots, and to spare.

    {{hugs}} and awe to you.

*except for the must love animals part, that’s easy.

Get ready, college football fans. You may have to listen to this 14 times next year.

Best of luck to you Bella, in getting your perfect helper in the new year and in a slow, slow progression of your disease.

You know, I’m a Bruin, so I should be thoroughly disgusted with the thought of such a thing, but I couldn’t help but feel a little schadenfreude if SC took it to those NCAA douchebags by winning a BCS title.

It’s a hot mess. Who knows though. Maybe their first string QB will be healthy enough to play an entire season for once.

Man’s gotta keep some hope alive. Of course, holding onto hope does some strange things to some folks.

    Mitt Romney tweetertwatted this today:

“This is a time when we look beyond who we are today and ask who we will become tomorrow.”

So I wasted my day tweeting suggestions for who Mitt might become with the hashtag #whowillmittbetomorrow

I think my 6 followers were annoyed.

My agenda for the immediate future is a lot of vomiting followed by not sleeping by multiple showers and lots and lots of pills.
Pneumonia and flu at the same time during Christmas.
I’m stressed out right now. At times I feel that life in a combat zone was easier. But I’m going to be OK.
I’m not in for the difficulties and suffering that Bella has, so I can suck it up, take my pills, and drive on. If I could only get to sleep.

@a hip hop artist from Idaho (fka Bella Q): Bella Q, i am at a loss for words. So I will just echo what SiubhanDuinne said, she said it much better than I could.

And I am asking Santa to move a breakthrough for MS way, way up on his list.

    Edit: P.S. Asking god, too.

@Soonergrunt: Sooner, I had pneumonia for 3 weeks when I was in my twenties (bad reaction to flea chemicals I used on my dog). I recall one thing vividly. Being really tired but unable to sleep. Well, two things. The unable to sleep part made me really cranky after while.

Is the pneumonia related to the problem you had last year? (Or is it two years now, time just seems to fly by.)

I have really been enjoying you as a front pager.

Feel better soon! Oh, and flu with pneumonia really sucks.
