Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

rich, arrogant assholes who equate luck with genius

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

fuckem (in honor of the late great efgoldman)

I’m sure you banged some questionable people yourself.

It’s time for the GOP to dust off that post-2012 autopsy, completely ignore it, and light the party on fire again.

… riddled with inexplicable and elementary errors of law and fact

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

Insiders who complain to politico: please report to the white house office of shut the fuck up.

They traffic in fear. it is their only currency. if we are fearful, they are winning.

Black Jesus loves a paper trail.

Come on, media. you have one job. start doing it.

Conservatism: there are some people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

Putin dreamed of ending NATO, and now it’s Finnish-ed.

If you’re pissed about Biden’s speech, he was talking about you.

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

We are aware of all internet traditions.

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

Everybody saw this coming.

Not so fun when the rabbit gets the gun, is it?

Seems like a complicated subject, have you tried yelling at it?

He wakes up lying, and he lies all day.

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

Even Romney Agrees: THE INDIVIDUAL MANDATE IS NOT A TAX.

Well, well, well, what have we here? Oh, it’s a video of a 2006 press conference after the passage of Romneycare in which Romney states the mandate in Romneycare — the stepfather of Obamacare — is not a tax, but rather a fee or an assessment on those who are “abusing the free care pool.”

Mmm-hmm.

Won’t matter. The King of the Pansy Asses will say whatever his TeaBagger Overlords tell him to say. He’s running for office, for Pete’s sake!

Willard would ass-rape Michael Jackson’s corpse on live TV in order to win the presidency. I know that sounds a little harsh, but it’s also true.

I don’t understand how he gets away from a well documented history of his support for what is essentially his policy. I take it back. Here’s how he gets away from it: he changes the subject. I suspect he won’t talk about Obama/Romney care at all. Dead issue. Move along. Talk about Holder/fast/furious/rogue Obama Administration-Not-To-Trust-the-Black-Dudes. Yeah!

I think Willard will run out of things to talk about given his history as governor.

    Goddamned clown.

Nothing. I reject your reality and substitute my own!

Yes, I agree our man is slightly less disingeous than theirs. Still Obama sternly mocked Hillarycare, 2008 version, and her advocacy of individual mandates before he had to make a U turn and sell it with equal passion, as the lynchstone of Obamacare and furthermore, on the understanding, that it was absolutely not a tax! Everyone should be provided with whiplash collars, because our maleable politicians, feel they have to cater to a volatile electorate.

    So, let’s see.

Rmoney refuses to acknowledge the nature of his career at Bain Capital.

He also denounces the one project of his sole elected political office that he used as a springboard to his two Presidential campaigns.

So, what record exactly is he running on? His record as a aficionado of warmbloods? His record as a bully at a boarding school? His military missionary service in France in the late 60's, when other American men the same age were fighting, bleeding, and dying in the rice paddies of Vietnam?

Brave Sir Mittens runs away, yet again. Bravely runs away away.

This is one of the things that is just awesome about Romney being the GOP candidate. The guy can LITERALLY not speak the truth, in this case, because he is caught between Romney 2006, and Romney 2012.

Really, all you have to do, is to continue to use Romney 2006 quotes against Romney 2012. Again. And again. And again.

@kamalokitty: Heh. I watched Rachel Maddow tonight and she showed Romney’s official portrait as governor. Since the two biggest things during his tenure were (1) gay marriage and (2) “Romneycare,” he included a picture of his wife (he’s not gay married!) and oh, look at that on the desk — the healthcare bill. Such fail.

@Steve Crickmore: Did Obama ever deny that he changed his mind? Damn sure that Romney has never admitted that he has.

Rubio’s giving squaring the circle an honest try, though. Now, instead of Romney’s plan being OK/Obama’s not OK due to federal-level mandate being unconstitutional, it’s due to with Romneycare, if you didn’t like it, you could just move out of state! Romney et al’s inability to just own up to the system being OK has them contorting into all kinds of funny shapes.

Perhaps we could bring that joke back, where “mandate” is parsed into “man date”, so that it is a “gay thing”

That might dull the pain, for a second or two

One of the debates should be Romney debating himself and all of his previous positions before he shook Etch-a-Sketch.

Not to mention Romney 1994, Romney 2002 and Romney 2008.

Someone with video-skillz should splice together a Presidential debate with all the different Romneys arguing with each other.

    Priceless that would be.
