@rikyrah: It appears that it was designed to do minimal damage and doesn’t stop Syria for using more weapons. It could escalate especially if Trump gets a poll bounce.

I know this will come as a SHOCK, but camera loving, finger-waging scold Wilmer has been completely silent on the entire subject. Real profile in courage, that one.

@JPL: That’s the thing that concerns me as well. If you are going to try and ground the Syrian Air Force, then lobbing 5 dozen Hellfires aint gonna cut it. Question is what happens if Agent Orange thinks he can do a bombing run to actually blow up some planes on the ground, or something else that would put American assets in the crosshairs of Russian assets (more than they have already)?

    1. Trump team all over place on Syria. Most likely: limited symbolic air strikes to show toughness + notObama, little real impact on war.
    Marc Lynch‏Verified account @abuaardvark 14h14 hours ago
    Replying to @abuaardvark

    2. Such limited Syria strikes will accomplish little, even in deterrent term; carry huge risks of escalation and escalatory counter-moves.

    Marc Lynch‏Verified account @abuaardvark 14h14 hours ago
    Replying to @abuaardvark

    3. Limited Syria strikes would initially be hailed by regional allies and FP commentators who have long pushed for military action vs Assad
    Marc Lynch‏Verified account @abuaardvark 14h14 hours ago
    Replying to @abuaardvark

    4. When limited Syria strikes fail to change much, drumbeat will build for escalation to finish the job. Will Trump be able to resist?
    Marc Lynch‏Verified account @abuaardvark 14h14 hours ago
    Replying to @abuaardvark

    5. Also, can nexperienced, understaffed Trump team manage extremely complex diplomatic and military dimensions of even this limited action?

Yesterday, a judge issued an order requiring Kansas Sec of State Kris Kobach to give the court a copy of the memo

The key item in Kobach’s memo we’ve already figured out: change the Voter Registration Act to require you prove you’re a citizen to vote

Busy day for me with a couple Progressive/Indivisble meetings in a.m. and then going to Supervisor’s office with a group of activists to push back against proposed carve-outs to the LA Justice Fund (legal fund to defend undocumented Los Angelenos) that would screw over anyone with previous convictions, leaving them to hang to dry in dealing with ICE.
