I have been busy in meat space doing people things. Here is a video of Seth’s kittens to make up for my absence:
Also, this has been a great summer for birds. I went to the fern today to take a picture of you all, and the third bird harvest had already been completed and they were gone! Grand total of 11 birbs hatched on the front porch this summer. Not bad.
Seth
Bonus content: my hair knee and one of the many scratches from the kittens.
laura
How many fledged from your beard?
zhena gogolia
@Seth:
One of them is shy!

Squee. My cat is Zen, she meditates
ETA: Video needs more light.

Is that White Stripe and Grey Feet tussling? I’m having some trouble putting names to faces.
FlyingToaster
@Seth: You have a non-hair knee? Odd.
Cats mean scratches. I don’t have them because the entire Toaster household is dreadfully allergic (both parents => WarriorGirl is worse than either of us). But I spend holidays at my SILs with 5 boys, 2 cats and a dog. The scratches are part of the territory.
trollhattan
@FlyingToaster:
Better than a hair-knee ah.
trollhattan
@FlyingToaster:
One benefit I love from the puppy-dog transition is the point point (heh) they lose those damn needles and get actual teeth. Once the hands heal it’s all good from there.
chris
A fine crop of kittens! This is fun too:

Any Jackals in Portland tonight, be careful.
The Nazis are drunk, didn’t get the violence they wanted, many are staying in town and will be taking to the streets again after dark.
debbie
@trollhattan:
Filling in for NotMax tonight?
debbie
@chris:
The comments and clips are hilarious!

BTW, the FEC has quietly killed off an investigation into the Russians and the NRA Campaign Finance Violations,
A Ghost To Most
JC, please me send an address to send the spoon.
That is all.
zhena gogolia
@A Ghost To Most:
Can you e-mail him directly? He almost never replies in blog comments. He does reply to e-mails.
Baud
@chris:
They should spell out the Hussein.
trollhattan
@debbie:
Lack of quals is no barrier!
chris
@Baud: Agreed but maybe there’s a signage rule or something?
?BillinGlendaleCA
@zhena gogolia:
Especially when the emails are in all caps, he loves that.
?BillinGlendaleCA
@Baud: The local freeway here is named President Barack Obama Highway. They should add the President part.
Baud
@chris:
Yeah, as a sign, the H is better.
@?BillinGlendaleCA:
They don’t do that with the FDR so I doubt they’ll make an exception here.

This is just funny. The Mountain goes car shopping, perhaps for one he can carry with one hand.
Baud
@Jay:
Not exactly breaking news.

KITTENS! Where is Momma cat?
Jay
@Baud:
Documented in writing, not just suspected.
Hopefully Prosecution Exhibit #21,398.

@Jay:
We left “suspected” many years ago.
Ohio Mom
@A Ghost To Most: I hope Cole posts a photo of your spoon, I’d like to see it.

@Jay: Another asprct of The Family is their connection to Russia. It ties the link between high powered pols, mostly GOP, and Russia so the FEC blocking the investigation of laundering Russian money by the NRA makes sense fir several reasons.
?BillinGlendaleCA
@Baud: I sit corrected it’s President Barack H. Obama Highway.
SiubhanDuinne
@A Ghost To Most:
Would you take and post a photo of the spoon before you ship it off to John? I’d love to see your work!
ETA: Or what OhioMom said at #28. GMTA!

@Jay: That story has a sad ending. :(

I’m at a BBQ near Boston with a bunch of tipsy pet-loving lefties. I just made 11 of them watch the kitten video.

Staying ahead of the propaganda:
NotMax
Cross your fingers, toes and anything else crossable. Came inside out of the sweltering heat to wait for first coat of paint on surface-damaged area of landlady’s car’s bumper I prepared for painting earlier today to dry. Figure three light coats ought to do it. Shall decide on whether or not to forego a clear coat over it later on.
Once again reminded that I suck at spray painting.
Jay
@NotMax:
18’inches, layer until smooth, work your way along, building a coat.
satby
@A Ghost To Most: if you don’t hear back send me a message at my shop. No bonus fingers to go with the super long spoon, I hope.
SectionH
@Baud: How about Nobel Prize Winner Barack Obama Ave?
NotMax
@Jay
Somehow comforting to know, to the depths of my being, I would make an absolutely terrible grafittoist.
SectionH
@NotMax: Thoughts and Prayers, even. No, I shouldn’t snark at all, that’s a serious challenge you’re into. Laki maika’i!

@R-Jud:
I am in a barbecue funk. I went to my favorite, very convenient place—only a couple of miles from my house—a few weeks ago and found that it had been sold (owners retired) and renamed. Gave it a go and thought it was nowhere as good. Went back today to confirm. Same: definitely not as good. Maybe not even “good” at all. So now the search begins again.

@schrodingers_cat:

@Jay:
Inorite. Liberty Barbecue is relatively close, but they’re a bit lah-di-dah. I discovered a fantastic place last December, Shawn’s Smokehouse, but it’s 40 miles west in Warrenton, VA.
Maybe this will get me going on the hive of Korean barbecue places in nearby Annandale, which I haven’t checked out yet. Not the same, but it’s a good excuse.
SWMBO
@debit: Watch the whole video. They cut to Momma and sibling kitten then back to the action.
ETA. Nevermind. That’s the other kitten in a litter box.

@Steeplejack: Yes. This. Ever since Corky’s left Lexington ky I have been bereft….

Lots of sounds of nature today. Just stepped out on the porch to be greeted with very loud baby bird noises, which made me think of Cole. The purple finches build a nest in the soffit, so I can’t see into it, but they must have hatched a brood very recently–and are the li’l ones ever noisy. Earlier, I heard a lot of frantic splashing; turns out it was caused by two seals tag-teaming a large school of fish. The seals kept popping up with their mouths full of big fish–and big smiles. The fog has cleared, the sun’s out, and it’s warm, probably from the tropical depression spinning up. It’s supposed to stay off the New England coast, as I hope it does so it will avoid snarling up our national championship regatta this coming week.
