One way or another, sounds like we should be prepped for another GOP Hellweek…
Jeff Sessions was Trump’s first Senate endorsement and was a supporter even before making it formal. He’s spent this campaign basically begging for Trump not to humiliate him like this https://t.co/cBoh8SMtL9

THE. MUELLER. REPORT. DID. NOT. EXONERATE. TRUMP.
No matter how many time y'all tell that lie, it's still a lie.
If Trump had not been a sitting president he'd be in prison now.
Give it up, Jeff, he's just not that into you anymore.
And why would you want him to be?
— Khashoggi’s Ghost (@UROCKlive1) May 23, 2020
Hi everyone Jeff Sessions gets no credit for having recognized that covering up Trump's crimes would have taken away too much of his precious racism time.

"Jeff Sessions was a disaster as Attorney General. He should've never been Attorney General, he's not qualified, he's not mentally qualified to be Attorney General" — wow, what idiot gave Sessions that job in the first place? pic.twitter.com/uNsLhvgpyv

Ann Coulter attacking Donald Trump for attacking Jeff Sessions.
There’s a whole new definition of the Devil’s Triangle.

I can’t unsee it.
Lord Fartdaddy (Formerly, Mumphrey, Smedley Darlington Mingobat, et al.)
That one guy hit it. If Sessions was too dumb to be attorney general—and for the record, my feeling is that he was easily smart enough and competent enough to do the job; brains were never the problem, he was just too evil—but even if he had been too dumb, what genius nominated the fucking guy to begin with?
Ohio Mom
HumboldtBlue: what part of Obama’s trip to Australia can’t you unsee?

Maureen Dowd, the Villager Queen, sees the Trump behind the mask:
As Oscar Wilde said, a mask tells you more than a face.
Origuy
@Ohio Mom: What is the woman newscaster wearing? It looks like a very low cut evening dress under her black jacket. Then there are all the people waving behind the guy doing the standup.

Ann Coulter is upset that Trump didn’t endorse Sessions…
It’s like Inception for racism– When a racist gets upset because a racist doesn’t endorse another racist.
dmsilev
@MattF: Oh, that’s bullshit. Who and what Trump is has been clear for a long time, Dowd and her colleagues just have been pretending not to see it. Besides, hating Hillary Clinton was more fun for them.
MattF
@dmsilev: I think Dowd has seen something about Trump that I’d missed. That doesn’t mean her vendetta against the Clintons was OK.

@marklar: Coulter’s current unhappiness about Trump shows that the enemy of my enemy isn’t necessarily my friend.
Brachiator
@MattF:
Dowd should know. She and other New York reporters helped Trump burnish this image and present it to the world. They loved him as the swaggering New York millionaire playboy. They knew what a petty little shit he really was, but gleefully helped him keep his true face from the public.
And it was by no means only or mainly the New York Times that happily kissed up to Trump. It was a damn media cottage industry.
Here is more of Dowd’s self-serving bullshit from a 2016 interview.
She’s upset that Trump won’t talk to her. Makes you wonder who is really the narcissist here.

Why only one of them? Narcissism doesn’t have a 25- or even 53-person active roster

Well if you need a break from the horror show
and you are fine with Biden boosterism,
these tweets might bring you a smile. A sample:
Tipping hat to the Thin Black Duke, even if he doesn’t like DKnight’s jokes, for his comments. Something like, what white people need to do is to vote Biden.
MattF
@Brachiator: I agree that Dowd is not an innocent bystander, she’s been an active participant in the damage to our politics. But she’s a complicated case; I give her credit for writing publicly that Colin Powell (and by inference, Bush and Cheney) was lying to the UN about Iraq. I don’t see an advantage in blowing past the complications.
Brachiator
@MattF:
When Does was doing her book your, she talked about how early on she covered Trump for the society pages. She probably saw his racism and sexism up close and approved it, or at least have it a pass.
It’s not that complicated. And she didn’t have an exclusive on Colin Powell.

That was her point. Powell’s lies were obvious

@hells littlest angel:
For anyone who does not know, Tuberville is a college football coach who was at Auburn for quite a stretch. In states like Alabama, successful football coaches rank a notch below Robert E Lee among white voters.
I’d expect Tuberville to win the primary and general by wide margins. Am I way off? Does Sessions have a chance?
?BillinGlendaleCA
@James E Powell: You might be off, there are 2 football schools in Alabama and they don’t very much like each other.
James E Powell
@?BillinGlendaleCA:
There is that. At Auburn, he beat Alabama six straight. He was also at Ole Miss and Texas Tech. I do not believe the in-state rivalry will hurt him since it’s been a while.
Yutsano
@James E Powell: Oh man. Southern football neither forgives nor forgets. I do expect Tuberville to win the primary but I think Jones will show he’s an idiot whose only qualification is he supports Dolt45. It might be enough because Alabama is all in on vote suppression but Jones might just eke it out.

Just read an email from the auto club of so california that they are sending me a refund of 20% of my car insurance premium between Mar. 16 and May 15 due to claims declining that much while we were socially isolating. Nice. Confirms the housemates’ anecdotal reports that traffic is back up to normal levels.
piratedan
@mrmoshpotato: which makes Ms. Dowd, The Bitch with an Agenda…
and THAT Agenda must be served, regardless of anything else.
she should be happy she still gets paid to write, in any other profession, her patootie would be out looking for employment in another field.
lgerard
@West of the Rockies:
Not as ridiculous as a football coach running for Senator, and having a chance of winning.
Next thing you know we will have game show hosts running for office
mrmoshpotato
@piratedan: Do you listen to the Professional Left podcast? Do you know about Friday’s Tolling of the Bells?
?BillinGlendaleCA
@Mary G: Traffic is nowhere near normal levels, I look at Google Maps and see green on all the freeways during what would normally be rush hour. There’s more traffic than there was at the start of the Stay-at-Home order, but it’s nowhere near what it’d normally be.
ETA: I’ll give you an example, I was planning on driving to Joshua Tree this evening(I woke not feeling well). It tells me 2 1/2 hours to drive there; last year, on a Saturday, it took 5 hours.
?BillinGlendaleCA
@lgerard:
Now that’s just crazy talk.
James E Powell
@Yutsano:
I would agree if it were, for example, a former head coach of the Georgia Bulldogs running in Florida, but Auburn is in Alabama.
Here’s an ESPN article addressing this issue.
So I guess some Alabama white people have to choose who they hate more. Tuberville for coaching Auburn to victory over the Tide or Sessions for insufficient slavish worship of Trump.

@rikyrah:
An interesting thread. It is as well trump has zero ability to write history, because the history of this period will revolve around the pursuit of happiness being the middle & wealthy classes wrapped up in consumerism and very little else. The lies we are fed will not be part of that history.
To think that a day on the boardwalk is the beginning & end of freedom is awakening to why we are destroying our world.

I agree – many folks are working to do it better – I have never spent more time on cookin’ and cleanin’ which used to be ignored whenever possible. I am quite amazed to have found some positives in both.
