The real work of an opposition party is to oppose.

Of course, this odd perceptual lacuna is common enough among Republicans, but Not-Leader McCarthy is supposed to be a step ahead of his fellows…

Interestingly, it seems as though McCarthy may have been chosen as a ceremonial target:

    Someone should explain to TFG that McCarty thinks he isn’t anybody, or at least not somebody worth paying attention to. In other words, a nobody. Best to do that in a shrapnel-proof suit.

    @Mary G: This is worse than the others, she died here and her body is still in her bed.  We’ll take her to the vets office this morning for cremation.

    @satby: It wasn’t totally unexpected, I think both girls got a batch of bad food about 9 months ago.  I’ve spent that time trying to find food that they would eat.  Conni’s heart gave out.  We thought we’d found something Nikki liked and were hopeful…I guess too little, too late.  She had lost a lot of weight and yesterday she had some real stomach distress.  Thanks for your kind thoughts.

    Kevin McCarthy, the man openly afraid enough of Republican base voters to identify them correctly as a mob when they come to his workplace with a noose and gallows, but too scared to remember who they were the next day.

    Nikki, my cocker spaniel just passed away.

    I understand completely – there’s a hole in my heart where my Italian Greyhound used to be until 3 weeks ago when she passed away.  It’s not just the dog’s companionable presence itself that’s missed, but all the routine things you did each day taking care of it and time spent giving it attention.
