I learned that today in my teeny little home town of Sheridan IL, the FBI arrested a guy for involvement in Jan 6. Nabbed his brother in Florida too.
Somehow I’m not surprised, knowing that little town as I do.

So good I just have to share – Fresh Corn Polenta with Eggplant and Tomato Sauce
The polenta recipe is stupid simple:
4 ears fresh corn, shucked and corn kernels cut from ears
3 to 4 tbsp unsalted butter
Salt and pepper to taste
Add corn kernels to blender and puree until smooth.
Set skillet over medium heat. Add butter. When butter is melted, add corn puree and cook, stirring constantly, until it reaches desired thickness. Remove from heat and add salt and pepper to taste. (It will thicken as it cools.)

We took in a young cat who kept turning up at our doorstep at 5 am looking for food. We decided to adopt her. Took her to the vet. He checked and she was chipped. He said “we don’t need to report her.” We said ” someone loved her enough to chip her.” By then we had had her for five days. No signs whatever in the neighborhood.
Facebook said oh by the way my girlfriend’s cat is back. Someone turned her in to a local vet.
5 am the very next day she turned up at our front door wanting breakfast. With a new collar with a bell.
Our neighborhhood has at least two free roaming german shepherds who chase cats with lethal intent. Also many cats who fight at night. Also adjacent to a 1000 acre wooded park with at least 8 coyotes. Also some teenagers who drive like maniacs. Not a safe place for a cat to wander.
I am very tempted to be one of those assholes who adopt some one else’s cat for the cat’s own safety.
