Ted Nugent’s wife is apparently as dumb as her husband:
FORT WORTH — The wife of rock guitarist Ted Nugent was “embarrassed” and apologetic after being arrested Thursday for carrying a handgun into a terminal at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, her lawyer said.
Shemane Nugent, 51, was released on her recognizance, lawyer David Finn of Dallas said. She faces a $2,000 fine and the forfeiture of the gun, he said.
The TSA screeners found a loaded .38 with 10 extra rounds in Ms. Nugent’s carry-on bag. She claims she uses the bag to go to the gym and always carries a weapon with her because of “death threats” and just forgot to remove the gun when she took the bag to the airport. Hey, it could happen to anyone, right?
Lawyer Finn describes Nugent “as a mom with absolutely no criminal history” who has a concealed carry permit. “This is a regular occurrence, unfortunately,” Finn said. “Good, law-abiding people make these kinds of mistakes.”
I wonder if there are any provisions that allow the authorities to revoke concealed carry permits on the grounds of conspicuous stupidity. I mean, if Nugent is forgetful enough to take a gun through airport security, couldn’t she forget and leave it on the floor of a daycare center?
PS: Ms. Nugent is a member of the Clare Booth Luce Policy Institute, which includes the following on her page: “She is a frequent speaker and defender of Second Amendment rights, traditional values and the importance of personal responsibility.” She is also a featured writer for the NRA’s “Women’s Outlook” magazine. So she’s a responsible gun owner.

Isn’t being stupid a prerequisite for being married to that racist piece of trash?

So much for security theater. Way to go TSA.

so i guess she’ll take ‘personal responsibility’ and accept the punishment without bitching up a storm, right?

OT: “Internet security expert Bruce Schneier writes about Lavabit founder Ladar Levison’s “extreme moral act in the face of government pressure,” in closing the security-focused email service rather than complying with a US government order to share user data. “It’s what happened next that is the most chilling. The government threatened him with arrest, arguing that shutting down this e-mail service was a violation of the order.” ”

Death threats? I know the intertoobz have a wild west quality, but it’s hard for me to imagine anyone cares about the sideshow freak, much less his wife, to make a death threat

“Embarrassed”? “Apologetic”? That doesn’t sound very Nugent-y to me.

Personal responsibility is code word for those Blah people, conservatives are allowed to have a mulligan or two..or three…or four.

Too bad David Dewhurst has no Get Out Of Jail Free cards. She could always try to Cheney her way out by blaming it on the security guard.

Don’t be silly. Responsible Gun Owners™ can never lose their status until they shoot themselves, their families, their friends, their friends’ families, random strangers, etc. at which point they are declared to have never been a Responsible Gun Owner™ in the first place, so it’s wrong to lump them in with actual Responsible Gun Owners™ who would never do such things.

What responsible gun owner among us has not forgotten about the loaded gun in her gym bag? Look in the mirror before you point fingers, people.

I mentioned this here yesterday and as I said then, I’m glad to hear that Ms. Nugent has a CCW permit. One day she just might get to shoot that misogynistic crazy asshole she married.

Another one of those winger “Do as I say, not as I do” types.
“Ms. Nugent is a member…”
No, that’s her husband.

It’s like the time my then-6 year old left his school scissors in the bottom of his backpack and TSA made him take them out.
Boy, was he embarrassed.

Unless Texas law yanks permits for misdemeanors, I doubt anything will happen to her permit.
Ironically enough, my former Congressman did the same thing.

I can actually believe that these dopes forget. It’s not so much that they forget about the gun as that they forget that they aren’t allowed to carry it everywhere they go, so they’re terribly surprised when it turns out to be a problem at the airport.

I know this topic was discussed to death here, but I am astonished about the revelation that when Miranda (GG’s partner) was detained by the UK authority he had 58,000 encrypted documents and a handwritten passcode. One of the files contained names and locations of agents. Am I the only one who thinks he got out fairly easily. If anyone else was detained with these documents they will still be in jail.

It’s just so harrrrrd to be a “celebrity” who takes responsibility for her self-defense these days. LEAVE MISSUS NUGENT ALOOOOONE!
I’m reminded that Tim Donnelly, a Republican assemblyman and declared candidate for Gov. Jerry’s seat was arrested last year carrying a loaded pistol checking in for a flight. Claimed he needed it because of death threats by liberals. Maybe he has a point, since he started the California Minutemen chapter a few years earlier.

Here in Indiana, in addition to the usual places (courts, schools, etc) you aren’t allowed to carry on board any of the riverboat ca$inos.
However our Legislature did provide for those who forget about their gun while gaming.
Each casino is required by law to let CCW’ers check in their guns with security for the duration of their visit.

Booze and guns don’t mix well.
If you’re at the boat and worried that you’ll get mugged in the parking garage for your winnings you’d be better off asking security to walk you to your car, anyway.
Not many muggers would attack the armed and uniformed ISP troopers and EPD cops who work off duty as security, whereas they’d jump at the chance to mug a half drunk schlub who got lucky at the tables and is staggering back to his car alone.

She’s as stupid as a fucking cinder block. Unless her life is a whirlwind of sleepless days and nights and one plane trip after another after another, every day, all day long, to the point where she can hardly be fairly held responsible for remembering every last detail of her harried existence, she has no fucking excuse for having firearms in her carry-on. It’s only been since, oh, shortly after this cretin was born since firearms were verboten on aircraft. Hijackers to Cuba, anyone? That was so 60s.
Getting caught with a 12-oz. bottle of shampoo? Leaving your manicure set in your carry-on? Understandable, in this post-9/11 age. But for a middle-aged person to leave a fucking firearm in her bag? She doesn’t have the brain capacity of a fire hydrant.

There is a method for revoking her CCW permit: its called being convicted of a violent felony for bringing a gun onto an airport. How bout some jail time?

His wife’s name is Shemale?
Arclite
The truth is, I could believe this was an honest to goodness mistake, and not just because people think she’s an idiot. If she honestly carries a gun everywhere she goes, I could totally see this happening. You just get used to your equipment, and don’t consider the fact you can’t have it a certain place, like a plane. I’ve lost pocketknives that I keep on my keychain, and screwdrivers that I keep in my backpack to airport security. I knew those things were illegal to carry on a plane, just like a gun, yet I was so used to them I forgot to leave them home.
El Cid
If she does occasionally receive threats (including death threats), I suspect it’s less likely a problem arising from, say, gun control policy advocates, but rather from the miserable low lifes and lunatic borderline personalities they call friends & family.
Corner Stone
@Anya:
I find that highly improbable. Because if you actually read the article you would not have come here and posted what you did.
Unless – you’re either a complete idiot or have a severe issue with reading comprehension and are otherwise nice in other areas of your life.
