Ok, at the request of readers I’m not including the 3 House seats that are held by Republicans but listed as “Likely Democrat” in the Balloon Juice House fund. I also cut out Donna Shalala because she apparently has raised an ungodly amount of money already. So we have four slots left.
The first four candidates you name in the comments (these should be Democratic candidates competing for seats currently held by Republicans) will be added to the list to make it 40. Then I’m raising 40K for the 40 of them.
Update. And we’ve got ’em! Those 36 plus those in the first five comments minus Dean Phillips who was already on the list.
Update. And here we go.
You can give your donation to one or just a couple candidates to avoid getting on too many mailing lists. The order is randomized so if lots of people just to give who is on top it should even out.

Jason Lewis MN2 is a real piece of dirt and desperately needs to go away. Angie Craig is running only couple points behind him

@Schlemazel:
He’s already on it
JoyceH
Oh, crud, could you make it five? Vangie has almost no money but internal polls show her pretty much tied for a seat that’s been Republican for decades.

@JoyceH:
She’s in it. Dean Phillips was already on the list

Ammar Campa-Najjar vs. Duncan Hunter, CA50?
Would help if you posted the list or a link to it, I am not seeing it if you did.

So where is the list?
JoyceH
@Doug!: Oh yay! I saw in the paper that she had 29K in the bank against Wittman’s one million.
Schlemazel
@Doug!:
Sorry, didn’t see the list – Angie Craig would be a great choice too

@namekarB:
Oh HELL yes. For those who’ve not had the pleasure, Tom McClintock is CA’s answer to Iowa’s Steve King. Booting him would be sweet indeed. FWIW it was once John Doolittle’s seat, until he had a little “Whoopsie” with Charles Hurwitz and another with Brent Wilkes.

Thanks again Doug! And all you folks working hard to help these people win. We can do it!
41 days to go!!
Cheers,

Wow, that was fast.

Maybe Carolyn Long (D) in Washington State’s 3rd District?
Rural WA is a lot more Red than people might imagine, so this one’s a (ahem) long shot, but being west of the Cascades makes it a bit more hopeful. Plus the current R officeholder is backbencher apparatchik Ms. Jaime Herrera Beutler, so it’s not like Ms. Long is facing a juggernaut here.
Disclaimer: I’m living in the 2nd District next door, with Denny Heck (D), who is fine.

Thank you – just donated.

We’ve contributed to Dr. Kyle Horton, running in NC-7 against a scumbag whose mentor was Jesse Helms.

I gave money to Linda Coleman in NC-02 yesterday which I think brings me up to 15 folks for the cycle. Have been donating to a different Red to Blue D every Monday since July plus a few end of quarter donations on June 30. I’ve been prioritizing women & minority candidates & suspect quite a few are in the 40 here but it would be nice to see a complete list.
Big thanks to everyone making donations.

I know Alain and M^4 have their hands full, but it would be great if they could find a way to keep the Thermometer at the top of the right column, as a reminder – so that Doug! doesn’t have to repost this thread every day or so.
Cheers,
Scott.

Okay, just figured out how to check the list. I’ve hit ten of them :). Doug, in the last week the R’s pulled funding from the guy running against Conor Lamb. I think the seat is now considered likely D & Conor probably does not need help.

This is reminding me that I have a pack of 100 voting-related postcards and 40 stamps, so I need to do the PostcardsToVoters verification thing so I can start sending those puppies out.

I know I’m not the only slow one here, so for those looking for the list, click on the thermometer, then you’ll get an Act Blue screen. On the right, just above the grey box where they want you to make it monthly, you’ll see this:
It will open up with all 40 candidates and their districts and you can customize the donation. I took money off all the ones I already donate to and increased the ones I don’t.
I want to put in a plug for Katie Porter, who’s on the list running against the execrable Mimi Walters in CA-45. She was not supposed to have a chance, but she’s ahead in the polls and has a huge grassroots base, but needs money. She was asking for copy paper the other day, plus snacks and water for her canvassers. Harley Rouda in CA-48 is independently wealthy and has gotten a lot of national money because Dana Rohrabacker, so he doesn’t need a lot, so I gave his share to Katie.

@Mary G:
I got slightly confused by your comment, because it turns out there are two different Katies running against CA House Republicans this year. My local Katie is Katie Hill in CA-25, running to unseat Steve Knight:

@Geoduck:
I’ve been matching volunteers with field organizers since last fall, and there are hundreds of volunteers coming out to help in WA-03, including some patriots from reliably blue NW Oregon who are crossing the river to help flip this seat. I agree with Geoduck: this race has possibilities.
H.E.Wolf
Also – thank you Doug for doing this! And thank you Mary G for explaining the thermometer route to the list.
Kim Schrier in WA-08 is a *great* choice to support – much appreciated! The 8th District is a bellwether for the 2018 elections, being historically purple, and it is LIT right now, based both on numbers of volunteers, and numbers of cities in which the volunteers are located.
This is key for the 8th, which covers a lot of territory.
Incidentally, the GOP candidate for WA-08 is a stealth ultra-conservative with a history of questionable real estate dealings, and has been a sore loser in previous statewide races. None of that is a good look right now.
?BillinGlendaleCA
@Mnemosyne: She’s been on the air quite a bit and I’ve noticed that she’s getting funding from the DCCC. They must see that district as a good get.
Mainmata
I’ve been giving to Jennifer Lewis (VA-06 Dem) who is a local woman unlike her male challenger and is just a great environmental and mntal health expert. And she grew up in a farm. This is the district that the awful Bob Goodlatte dominated for decades. He’s retiring so it is open and it is genuinely open. (We have a farm in the district but are MD residents so caan’t vote but we are canvassing.. Year of the Woman.
Mnemosyne
@?BillinGlendaleCA:
The Democrats in that district are fired up and already doing canvassing, phone banking, and postcards. Plus they put up a couple of billboards with Trump tweets on them. ?

Well down here in #AL03 where arrogant asshole 16 year incumbent Mike Rogers is being challenged by Mallory Hagan. She has an interesting story, one of them is she is a former Miss America. Progressive, down home from Opelika , Alabama , she stepped up when no one else would. Tonight my group, Alabama Together raised $15,000 for her. So if you’re interested in her story go to http://www.haganforhouse.com

@H.E.Wolf: Fuck Dino. I hope this loss finally convinces him we really don’t like him up here.

I would say take a look at Dan McCready down in the NC-09. He’s a former Marine, started a solar energy company, and is running against Mark Harris of “Women should all bow down” fame. Harris is getting a little nervous, so they have had Pence and Cheeto Mussolini down here campaigning for him. I’ve been giving monthly and my wife has volunteered but any help for him is appreciated.
