MORNING: Trump calls into Fox & Friends, pushes bogus Crowdstrike theory
AFTERNOON: https://t.co/vztlM7VKOY— James Poniewozik (@poniewozik) November 22, 2019
It could be worse, you could be a Republican (assuming you could drop 40 IQ points and every moral qualm)…
With Thanksgiving coming up, Doocy and Kilmeade give a masterclass here on uncomfortable inquisitive faces when a relative is saying something widely inappropriate or awkward. https://t.co/webrJpXHg5

I insist that you take 5 minutes and listen to every mini-clip in this thread from this morning. No, don’t read the summaries: LISTEN. 5 minutes. This is the President of the United States. https://t.co/z6jz72TLkj

Dunno why people are assuming he misspoke ;) https://t.co/yEGntYMlIT

Trump's ramblings on how many "stars" he's made over the years are completely off the rails pic.twitter.com/8k9rSguomE

“I want a trial,” Trump said of the Senate. Says he wants Hunter Biden and “nut job” Adam Schiff to testify. He also called Pelosi as “crazy as a bedbug”
— Manu Raju (@mkraju) November 22, 2019
[Projection sidebar: ““Crazy as a Bed Bug” is an old expression that (according to the website Why Do We Say It) owes its origin to the almost insane antics of a bedbug crawling around on a mattress. Its motions are zigzag, its direction uncertain. Thus, it would appear that the bedbug’s “craziness” was more along the lines of unpredictability rather than dementia… “]
Another of the President's go-to weird hiccups: "It's going to come out, it's a thing that'll shock you, it's coming." It never does. https://t.co/p7fT6246SE
— Tom Nichols (@RadioFreeTom) November 22, 2019
What the whole thing ultimately boils down to is this: the President and his supporters aren't disputing what happened and they don't care that it's wrong. https://t.co/79CJ5SiGwT
— Ari Kohen (@kohenari) November 22, 2019
“We’ll do it more often,” Trump says, as Fox & Friends tries to wrap up this phonecall which is going on an hour! ??
— Miriam Elder (@MiriamElder) November 22, 2019
The running joke here is that the GOP keeps coming up with increasingly impossible standards for impeachment which Trump casually meets within a week.
“Anything short of an audio recording of him explicitly stating he did it…”

Since Trump is motivated only about squelching corruption, I assume that means we will soon be cutting off aid to Israel? Or at a minimum, cutting it off until they strip Bibi of his position and toss him in prison where he belongs.
I mean seriously, the corruption there goes to the very top.

Version of the Spencer story that a Post journalist got:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/11/24/firing-richard-spencer-trump-recklessly-crosses-another-line/
Zelma
Did anyone else notice the handwritten date at the top of the letter Spencer sent? Sort of like he had it drafted and just needed to date it. Mattis also apparently had a letter ready. I wonder if any other Trump staffers are thus prepared. Of course, anybody with any degree of competence and/or character is long gone.
?BillinGlendaleCA
Well, Trump’s hotels are full of bedbugs, so he knows bedbugs.
mrmoshpotato
Fuck Them and their Friends – same assholes who were shocked when Dump called in during the campaign to say the families of terrorists should be killed.
Mary G
ETA: Didn’t go into moderation for 6 links, yay.
chris
The end is nigh, my friends. Think I’ll go and pull the blankets over my head.
mrmoshpotato
@chris: The residents of Sisterfuck should love that.
SFAW
@Kent:
Maybe it means Shitgibbon will commit seppuku?
Just kidding, of course. Even if we ignore that he is so dishonorable, that he would never do that, there’s the problem of his teeny-tiny hands being too small to hold the handle of the wakizashi.
hells littlest angel
The Crowdstrike thing will not die until Trump does. I think he correctly guesses that it’s a word that sounds terrifying to his hooplehead base. “Crowdstrike! OMG! That’s what terrorists do — they strike crowds!”
mrmoshpotato
@hells littlest angel: It’s entirely believable that Trump trash would believe it, even though it’s insane.
Side note: I wonder if Dump’s brain can still understand that morons fully believe his bullshit.
Donald Gisselbeck
Crackpot theory; some leftist has developed limited psychic powers. All they can do is weaken a few people’s verbal filters. They are trying to destroy right wing nutjobs by getting them to say outrageous things. It isn’t working.
Steeplejack
@Mary G:
I think the limit is now seven links.
David ??Booooooo?? Koch
Dump just trigged Brett Stephens
mrmoshpotato
@Donald Gisselbeck: Did these “limited psychic powers” come about 40 years ago, because I haven’t known the GOP to not be batshit crazy?
David ??Booooooo?? Koch
Dump misspelled “has-beens”
mrmoshpotato
@David ??Booooooo?? Koch: Oh shit. Brett’s gonna have to write an angry email to Dump and cc Putin.
ETA – I shouldn’t be joking about Dump being Putin’s bitch, because it’s not funny.
David ??Booooooo?? Koch
That’s exactly what he said before he caved and settle the Dump University law suit for $25,000,000 dollars.
?BillinGlendaleCA
@mrmoshpotato: Once upon a time, there were moderate Republicans, and wait for it liberal Republicans. I know it’s hard to believe, but it’s true.
jc
What I hate about this Crowdstrike nonsense is how Trump and his enablers are quick to push conspiracy theories, but they never even try to provide any evidence to support them.
Trump also blocks people from testifying, and then he pretends he’s exonerated.
Trump ties the world in knots with lies before the truth can put its boots on. He knows the media won’t do the work to clarify matters, which also works to his advantage, if someone tries to pin him down he just dodges or changes the subject — he knows they’ll have to quickly move on. Tragically, these cheap tactics work time after time.
mrmoshpotato
@David ??Booooooo?? Koch: Sooooo he’s going to try to pay off the Senate with Russian mob money from drugs, gambling, prostitution and human trafficking?
Won’t work with Democratic Senators, and all the Russthuglicans are already the Krwmlin’s bitches.
I’m so confused.
mrmoshpotato
@?BillinGlendaleCA: Yes, Bill. I know the country isn’t 40 years old. ?
(Saucy on the sauce)
?BillinGlendaleCA
@chris: I heard rumors about that when she left Trump’s employ.
Amir Khalid
@?BillinGlendaleCA:
Does Sarah the bass player’s daughter have any
credentialsqualifications appropriate for the office of Governor, or did I just ask a silly question?mrmoshpotato
@Amir Khalid: There’s a benchmark for Governor of Incorrectly-spelled Kansas?
ETA – and leave the bass out of this. It would fend off Mike with a sword if it could.
Amir Khalid
@mrmoshpotato:
For instance, does her dad’s time in the office make people think she too can be Governor? Stranger conclusions have been drawn.
Mallard Filmore
He wants this so that he can hear his many fine friends in the Senate defend him.
ETA: this is a reply to David ??Booooooo?? Koch ad #19
mrmoshpotato
@Amir Khalid: That’s not a qualification but sane standards. See W. :)
mrmoshpotato
@mrmoshpotato: *by sane standards.
Sasha
Part of me thinks that’s the point — to force Trump’s defenders to throw themselves ever deeper into that orange moral event horizon.
Chetan Murthy
@Sasha:
That is after all what mob bosses do to their underlings.
?BillinGlendaleCA
@Amir Khalid: Trump proves that qualifications are unnecessary.
pattonbt
Problem for “sane” Republicans (electorally versus the myriad of other issues) is they cannot win elections any more (except in the most gerrymandered / backwards districts / states) without the support of Trump and the deplorables. But deplorables can win without “sane” Republicans. So as always, self interest rules the “sane” Republicans and they have to shift with the wind to stay in the good graces of the Chief Deplorable and his rabble. Or they could grow principles and lose (Ha!). There’s always a deplorable in the wings ready to take on a RINO.
One hopes the Californication of the national Republican party will happen sooner rather than later, but structural impediments at the national level allow minority parties great leverage (at least if impeding good governance is the leverage).
Anne Laurie
@mrmoshpotato: Nepotism, d/b/a “good genes”, is the only half-way reasonable argument the Repubs have left.
Yes, it’s stupid and venal, but it sounds better on the podium than ‘MAH CLAN, OUR CLAN, RIGHT OR WRONG!!!’…
Marcopolo
I don’t know if this has been posted in any other threads but this is a damned good letter from a guy who is making his final break with the Republican party. I am sending it around to my friends on FB so they can link to it there. Some of them have friends on FB who might be reachable.
mrmoshpotato
@Anne Laurie: Yup. “He may be an idiot, but he’s our idiot!”
David ??Booooooo?? Koch
They’re not saying “Booooooooooooooo” they’re saying “Bloooooooooomberg”
Marcopolo
@Zelma: I know that we all realize by now that Mattis is just another coward but if there ever was a time for him to speak up…
Marcopolo

The good news from Hong Kong (no really, this is good news at least until the Chinese crack dow happens):
mrmoshpotato
@David ??Booooooo?? Koch: Sure Jan.
lgerard
Fox is going to have to come up with some sort of CGI background for when trump calls in and starts rambling like a dotard. Maybe soaring eagles, waving grain and midwest diners.
They can’t keep showing those 3 bozos sitting there pretending to comprehend whatever this fool is talking about
J R in WV
@Amir Khalid: Haven’t you heard?
She used to work in the White House!,
Amir Khalid
@J R in WV:
Oh, that’s right. And her job was telling the White House’s lies to the media. Okay, she’s qualified.
hervevillechaizelounge
Am I the only person having a hard time differentiating Navy secretary Richard Spencer and white supremacist (and glorious punching-bag) Richard Spencer?
I think Navy Richard Spencer should start using his middle initial like Leo G. Carroll.
Ken
@lgerard:
I’d think they already have a “technical difficulties – please stand by” screen. Maybe one of the humorous ones with a technician tangled up in wires.
Shalimar
@hervevillechaizelounge: I googled Navy Spencer’s bio before I went to bed, left the window open all night, and when I woke up I looked and wondered why a white supremacist’s page was open in a tab. So yes, you’re not the only one.
