Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

If you can’t control your emotions, someone else will.

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

The National Guard is not Batman.

SCOTUS: It’s not “bribery” unless it comes from the Bribery region of France. Otherwise, it’s merely “sparkling malfeasance”.

Republicans cannot even be trusted with their own money.

They spent the last eight months firing professionals and replacing them with ideologues.

The low info voters probably won’t even notice or remember by their next lap around the goldfish bowl.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

Accountability, motherfuckers.

Republicans choose power over democracy, every day.

We can’t confuse what’s necessary to win elections with the policies that we want to implement when we do.

Nothing worth doing is easy.

A tremendous foreign policy asset… to all of our adversaries.

“Loving your country does not mean lying about its history.”

“When somebody takes the time to draw up a playbook, they’re gonna use it.”

Is trump is trying to break black America over his knee? signs point to ‘yes’.

There is no compromise when it comes to body autonomy. You either have it or you do not.

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

Speaker Mike Johnson is a vile traitor to the House and the Constitution.

I like political parties that aren’t owned by foreign adversaries.

Fight for a just cause, love your fellow man, live a good life.

It is possible to do the right thing without the promise of a cookie.

When you’re a Republican, they let you do it.

Incredibly cursed and also substantially less unrealistic than you would hope https://t.co/1teA7YAPxI

I mean, Priebus is out there too while we’re at it pic.twitter.com/F0DBlMxwLK

I *think* we can still joke about this, because Spicer doesn’t “look great on TV”, and Priebus hasn’t shown sufficient doglike loyalty to the Oval Office Occupant. As long as Pete Hegseth doesn’t want to give up his Fox News duties…

Yet again, everything Trump touches is corrupted.  The Navy plays along thinking it will get all those shiny ships it desires, but ends up losing its soul of order and discipline.  At first it looks like there is some actual integrity somewhere, when the first reports are threats to quit if a murderer isn’t kicked out.  But then it turns out that of course they were willing to give Trump what he wanted and only end up destroying themselves.  The fish rots from the head,  but Trump seems uniquely able to bring out the most deep flaws of everyone that falls within his orbit.  It’s quite extraordinary.

Shouldn’t they bring in someone with no experience to shake the Navy up and drain the swamp? Sure, it will be tough to sail on dry land, but this is the new paradigm!

Trump can be the Navy Secretary. Y’all are forgetting that he’s a stable genius who knows all the best words.

@Patricia Kayden: He’s already running the Navy, Spencer just had the title.

Does the SECNAV need Senate confirmation? Cause I’m thinking we could be seeing a Secretary Gallagher in the near future.

@Spanky: Trump’s original SECNAV nominee withdrew from consideration when he found out he had to disclose all of his extensive investments and assets, so yes, needs Senate confirmation.  Spencer was finally confirmed in August of 2107.

Whoever it is, you can bet he will take the navy back to steam catapaults.  Probably coal-fired steam propulsion too, which will insure Trump carries West Virginia.  Its a win-win.

I can’t recognize Sean Spicer anymore unless Melissa McCarthy is playing him.
