Looks like Jim Manzi at the NRO ate his wheaties and went the full Bartlett on Mark Levin, and you will never guess what happened:
The other day, Ross called for other conservatives to be more critical of Republican politicians and conservative “entertainers,” and Jim Manzi made the mistake of taking up this challenge and applying intellectual rigor and honesty to a prominent conservative radio host’s book on a subject he understands fairly well. The inevitable circling-of-the-wagons that has followed illustrates perfectly the problem Manzi was trying to address in Levin’s work. Not only do Manzi’s colleagues automatically defend Levin’s sub-par arguments, but they regard it as horribly bad form to dare criticize those arguments with the vehemence that their poor quality would seem to merit. Small wonder that there are so few “magazines and conservative columnists…willing to call out Republican politicians (and, to a lesser extent, conservative entertainers) for offering bromides instead of substance, and for pandering instead of grappling with real policy questions.”
Someone failed to do their audience analysis before trying to argue with, well, facts and data and actual arguments. Manzi should understand by now that all the Corner expects from their contributors are pom poms and the occasional starbursts. And no, you sick bastards, not those pom poms
(via the Sullamatic).

Through a Dogs Eyes on PBS was excellent, and I highly recommend it. While watching, I had a glass of Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc that I really enjoyed. For some reason, in general, I seem to really like the Sauvignon Blancs from New Zealand more than from anywhere else.
Also, don’t forget Radio Kaos at 9 central.
Personally, I am just exhausted. I can barely stay up past ten pm the last couple of weeks. I do have a tech question, though.
I would like to stream audio and video to my living room through my wireless router, but I don’t have an xbox 360 or PS3. Is there a contraption I can buy that will be able to plug into my receiver and tv that will accept data from my home network? And I’m clueless about this, so speak slowly.

My email and phone have been burning up:
Ben Roethlisberger was suspended Wednesday for six games for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy, the league announced.
Commissioner Roger Goodell handed down the punishment a week after prosecutors decided not to charge Roethlisberger in a case involving a 20-year-old college student who accused him of sexually assaulting her in a Georgia nightclub in March.
The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback also was ordered to undergo a comprehensive behavioral evaluation. Goodell will evaluate Roethlisberger’s progress before the season and might consider reducing the suspension to four games.
A lot of my Steelers fans friends are livid about this- “He wasn’t even arrested” is a popular refrain, and I just have to laugh.
Spare me- he’s getting off light. He’s being held to a lower standard than the Geico voiceover guy, who just made a phone call to a bunch of wingnuts and was fired.
He’s getting a four game suspension, assuming he does what he is told to do. No one blinked an eye when Santonio Holmes got the same length suspension for smoking some kind bud (and he wasn’t arrested either, btw), something that I don’t even think should be a crime. And I’m just assuming Santonio, with his money and so much to lose, is smoking good reefer. If he is risking everything to blow hot piss tests for seedy bags of shake and stems, he needs another four games tossed on to his suspension just for being an asshole.
What Ben did was beyond excuse. It may not be technically rape to ply under-aged women with alcohol until they are so drunk they blow a .20+ BAC, then take them back into a back room and have sex in a bathroom with them, but it sure as hell does make you an asshole. And that would be the case if you were a teenager or a college student yourself, but a grown man who already has been accused of predatory behavior?
I’ll always be a Steelers fan, and I’m so tribal about my team I’ll deal with whatever the Rooneys decide. But Ben needs to get his act together, because if he doesn’t, he’s going to ruin some more lives, including his own. Right now he could be set for life, but he needs to get it through his head that no one wants an autographed picture of a rapist hanging on their wall. No matter how many Super Bowl’s you win. I hope he gets the message the Rooneys and the NFL are trying to send him.

Heard a song on the jazz show on WDUQ, a Pittsburgh Public radio station, by this singer named Melody Gardot. I’d never heard of her before but I immediately fell in love with her voice:
Not sure how I feel about the song, but I do love the voice. BTW- you can listen to the live stream of WDUQ– probably one of my favorite morning listens is Bob Studebaker’s jazz show.

Mistermix is fundamentally misreading the impact the Rubio investigation will have on the campaign. There will be no negative repercussions, even if it turns out he did misuse the credit cards.
Again, there is simply no greater achievement in the modern conservative movement than becoming a martyr. Accused by the OBAMA IRS and the “lamestream media” of wrongdoing? They’ll rally around him even if it turns out he was using the card to pay for gay sex with aborted fetuses in a bondage-themed club.
He doesn’t have to explain anything- all he has to do is deny it and play the victim, and let the “principled conservatives” in the wingnut wurlitzer and the blogosphere do the rest. I’m not going to do it, but someone else can listen to Rush and the others today, and I guarantee they will come out swinging at the accusers and rallying around Rubio. National Review will have ten pieces up by noon lamenting the politicization of the IRS. Mark my words.
You might as well just call Rubio the Republican nominee right now. If the wingnuts can get a good soundbite of Chris Matthews acting outraged, Rubio might manage to finagle this into a 2012 Presidential nomination.
