Some people really, really, really hated Star Wars. Not me.
I am debating going to see Batman (link to trailer here).

There are few things I enjoy more than a scathing movie review. One of my favorites was when Ebert was discussing a movie (I forget which), and he stated that (paraphrased) “This movie was so bad that Gene walked out halfway through. I stayed til the end, but I wish I had left with Gene.” At any rate, this review is pretty funny:
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie look like they had a terrific time making “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”

I finally saw Star Wars, and as predicted, I loved it. I was moved almost to tears.
Of course, I am a geek.

Just saw Zatoichi, and while a little more brutal than what I am used to, I still enjoyed it. Not time for some vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberries and the double feature choice- The Legend, with Jet Li.
I guess I wiull have to pause at 11:30 to watch SNL and see how skinny Lindsay Lohan really is, too.
BTW- Star Wars ROTS is still sold out here in Motown.

In Mr. Wagner’s estimation, the way the movie business works now — a staggered system of release “windows” that begins with a theater engagement and ends with network television or cable — is not only choice-dampening (“like hearing a song on the radio and having to wait three months to buy the CD,” he says), but wasteful, too.
Why not cut out the middleman, Mr. Wagner asks? Why pay to advertise a movie more than once?
To allay exhibitors’ fears, Mr. Wagner cites the example of the black market for DVDs in Russia. Up to 99 percent of DVDs there are pirated and yet the Russian theatrical market has never been stronger, he claims.
“People will always want to go to the theater. It’s that communal experience.”
If my friends and I are any indication, Mr. Wagner could not be more wrong. With home theatre the way it is, I have several friends who ALREADY refuse to go to movies. I am not much better. While I am not overtly hostile to going to movies like my friends, I don’t go nearly as often as I used to, and I am quite happy to sit at home with my own widescreen and surround sound.
Otherwise, Mr. Wagner has some pretty good ideas.

Today, all over the country, we will see a final chapter, of sorts, in one branch of nerd history.
The final Star Wars is here, and geeks all over the country are converging on theatres with a sort of weepy glee.
Be kind to your resident nerf-herder- the finality of it all will soon settle in with them…
