Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

This blog will pay for itself.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

Never give a known liar the benefit of the doubt.

Humiliatingly small and eclipsed by the derision of millions.

Just because you believe it, that does not make it true.

In after Baud. Damn.

Every decision we make has lots of baggage with it, known or unknown.

The desire to stay informed is directly at odds with the need to not be constantly enraged.

Our job is not to persuade republicans but to defeat them.

They punch you in the face and then start crying because their fist hurts.

Hey hey, RFK, how many kids did you kill today?

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

One lie, alone, tears the fabric of reality.

Everybody saw this coming.

Their freedom requires your slavery.

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

The fundamental promise of conservatism all over the world is a return to an idealized past that never existed.

Give the craziest people you know everything they want and hope they don’t ask for more? Great plan.

If you don’t believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love isn’t freedom, it is privilege.

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

White supremacy is terrorism.

Polls are now a reliable indicator of what corporate Republicans want us to think.

Anne Laurie is a fucking hero in so many ways. ~ Betty Cracker

That’s It! I’ve Had Enough!

I’m reasonably sure someone said something nasty about me on the internet today, so I am taking KO’s lead and leaving until every last one of you agrees to see things MY WAY!

Actually, I’m making some salsa and then me and the bitches are going to a picnic/bbq with friends. I’ll be back later. You are on your own- try not to pee on the carpet.

I don’t have a dog in this hunt. I picked both to go through, but am not sure now.

Try cutting grass with three Jack Russell Terriers and one Lily. I cut for 5 minutes, threw a ball for five minutes, cut for five minutes, threw a ball for five minutes. There were little green footsies everywhere.

Also, we have settled on the name Rosie (Rosalita).

I’m a bit late with this, but have at it. Right now Argentina is having its way with the Koreans.

Because “All pet posts, all the time” is beginning to sound better and better…

Have I mentioned recently that I really really love GoComics.com? For $12 a year, I get to read Rubes and Ballard Street and Doonesbury and Non Sequitor every morning, as well as some of my favorite editorial cartoonists (Danziger, Rall, Toles), and I never run the risk of accidentally stumbling over a Mallard Fillmore strip to spoil the mood. Web life self-segregation, fvck yeah!

At least we’re supposed to get some sun this weekend. We’ve had exactly 3 sunny days in the entire month of June, and my tomatoes are lush with blossoms but they won’t set fruit. How do your gardens grow?

A Dog’s Life

Mom and I took the critters to the park. I usually just let Lily run wherever, but when Ginny and Guesly come, we have to do it in the ballpark because it is fenced. Even so, Guesly found a hole in deep left field and managed to get out tonight.

Lily has a nice takedown about halfway through (she and Guesly play rough like that every day- they really are best of friends), and you can see “Rosie” in the foreground for a bit:

There was a super nice breeze.
