Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Be a wild strawberry.

75% of people clapping liked the show!

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

This isn’t Democrats spending madly. This is government catching up.

I like political parties that aren’t owned by foreign adversaries.

Come on, man.

Jesus watching the most hateful people claiming to be his followers

Let me file that under fuck it.

A fool as well as an oath-breaker.

The current Supreme Court is a dangerous, rogue court.

“They all knew.”

Today’s gop: why go just far enough when too far is right there?

Shut up, hissy kitty!

The words do not have to be perfect.

The press swings at every pitch, we don’t have to.

It’s a good piece. click on over. but then come back!!

The real work of an opposition party is to oppose.

If you don’t believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love isn’t freedom, it is privilege.

Since we are repeating ourselves, let me just say fuck that.

Republicans want to make it harder to vote and easier for them to cheat.

Republicans got rid of McCarthy. Democrats chose not to save him.

These days, even the boring Republicans are nuts.

Within six months Twitter will be fully self-driving.

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

1.) Broder takes a buyout. Broder and Bush both gone within a 20 day period- 2009 is shaping up to be a very good year.

2.) Count me as a fan of Glade Plug-ins. I prefer Clean Linen.

3.) Must be a slow day at the Sadly, No! empire, as they, too, attempt to justify cheating.

4.) I need a high quality microphone and a solid set of earphones for the mac at work. Any suggestions?

5.) The Heather Bresch scandal gets more interesting.

6.) NARAL endorses the magical unity pony. I expect a certain contingent of the Hillary supporting blogosphere will launch another wildly successful letter-writing campaign shortly.

7.) I don’t care what you haters say, I still like the band Rush. Listening to them right now, as a matter of fact.

8.) WV Supreme Court Chief Justice Elliot “Spike” Myanard, who was caught cruising the French Riviera with the CEO of Massey Energy, lost yesterday.

9.) Thank you, Hillary:

Hillary Clinton on Wednesday reiterated her vow to stay in the Democratic presidential race, but she said it would be a “terrible mistake” for her supporters to vote for John McCain over Barack Obama.

Sen. Hillary Clinton vowed to stay in the race, saying she’s “not going anywhere.”

“Anybody who has ever voted for me or voted for Barack has much more in common in terms of what we want to see happen in our country and in the world with the other than they do with John McCain,” Clinton said on CNN’s “The Situation Room.”

“I’m going to work my heart out for whoever our nominee is — obviously I’m still hoping to be that nominee, but I’m going to do everything I can to make sure that anyone who supported me … understands what a grave error it would be not to vote for Sen. Obama.”

10.) Another bloated farm bill. This time weighing in at $290 billion.

More as I remember the other stuff I was thinking about earlier.

Fafblog Interviews Hillary

This is brutal:

FB: Now, back when your husband was president he cut nine million poor women and children off welfare. But now you’re the candidate of women and poor people and poor workin women. So did you approve of what your husband did at the time, and if not are you going to reverse it as president and give all those poor people their money back?

CLINTON: Ha haaa! That’s an excellent question, Fafnir, and the only way to answer it is with a hearty chuckle followed by a complete non sequitur!

FB: Ha ha, that is so true!

CLINTON: You know, I wish I could make all those women’s lives better, I really do. But in a way, wouldn’t it help all of them even more if we could just make one woman’s life a whole lot better, and then say it sort of counts towards all those other women who aren’t getting anything? And wouldn’t it be even better-er if that one woman was me?

FB: You know, you just can’t argue with that math! Now are you running for president of Iraq, too? Because then your vote for the war totally makes sense!

CLINTON: I didn’t vote for the war, Fafnir. I voted to give the president the authority to go to war. What was he going to use that authority for? Maybe he’d just frame it and hang it in his office. Maybe he’d use it to prop up one of the legs on his desk. Maybe he’d use it to sing songs and dance jigs and lift weary spirits down at the old folks home! I honestly couldn’t say!

FB: If only you knew at the time that that devious George Bush would use a war authorization to authorize a war!

But, but, but… REV. WRIGHT HATES AMERIKKKA!

Great Moments in Fake Punditry

Chris: Isn’t this election just like a great FOOTBALL GAME? I mean, like a great knockdown, drag-out football game, where people are hitting each other really hard and really going at it? Don’t you think it’s just like a football game?

Howard: Not really, no.

Chris: I think it’s just like a football game, I really do. It reminds me of, you know, going to the stadium and seeing two teams just BATTLE back and forth. Only now we’re in OVERTIME! Isn’t it just like an OVER TIME FOOTBALL GAME?

Howard: Again, no. Football is an athletic contest played on a field whose outcome is determined by some combination of physical skill and good luck. This is a presidential primary election, whose outcome hinges on grass roots organization and effective if sometimes duplicitous PR and ad campaigns. It’s, you know, totally different.

Chris: Yeah, but can’t you just see Obama as the cocky young quarterback, who isn’t favored to win, but finds himself with a giant lead at the half? Only now he’s just trying to hang onto that lead, while the original favorite storms back and makes him sweat a little? Huh? I think he’s just like that. Don’t you think he’s like a football UNDERDOG here? A football underdog who kinda becomes the favorite, only to slip a little and therefore regain his underdog status? Isn’t he kinda like a slightly favored underdog?

Howard: What?

Thanks Big Daddy Balls.

Big Daddy Drew is a master of the imaginary conversation. Personally I’m a sucker for these fake conversation with real people type posts. If you know of any classics, post ’em below.
