Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

fuckem (in honor of the late great efgoldman)

Nancy smash is sick of your bullshit.

Fuck these fucking interesting times.

Balloon Juice has never been a refuge for the linguistically delicate.

A last alliance of elves and men. also pet photos.

I’d try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

Stamping your little feets and demanding that they see how important you are? Not working anymore.

When your entire life is steeped in white supremacy, equality feels like discrimination.

Thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege.

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

Fani Willis claps back at Trump chihuahua, Jim Jordan.

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

rich, arrogant assholes who equate luck with genius

Impressively dumb. Congratulations.

We are builders in a constant struggle with destroyers. let’s win this.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

How can republicans represent us when they don’t trust women?

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

Russian mouthpiece, go fuck yourself.

Chutkan laughs. Lauro sits back down.

JFC, are there no editors left at that goddamn rag?

A consequence of cucumbers

Historically it was a little unusual for the president to be an incoherent babbling moron.

Fuck catblogging. We’ve moved on past that passé mid 2000 stuff (that Kevin Drum actually started).

We’ve now moved on to Purr Offs. Email me your entries.

@asiangrrlMN: More me than him. He’s from Pennsylvania originally. HUGE Penn State nut (if he ever met geg6 he’d worship the ground she walks on) and also loves the Penguins. I mentioned tonight they were playing the Canucks. He got rather put out since he got roped into seeing some activist film (I didn’t press for details on that) but sooo wanted to go north. Of course he’d have to sneak back in: he no haz passport.

of course Cup Half Empty Chicken Little Cole won’t mention the better than expected jobs report. And the even better news that previous reports have been revised upwards.

Unless of course he can figure out a way to make it sound negative somehow.

Keep flapping those featherless wings bird brain Cole.

If dogs could purr, I’d believe in God. It’s the one feature they are missing. Otherwise they are pure perfection.

Tunch is pretty perfect too, but I don’t subscribe to purring as proof of inner sweetness.

I am not drinking that koolaid.

There’s nothing better than kitty purring. When we got our two kittens, we were hoping they would be prone to purring but there’s no guarantee. Happily, these 3 month olds don’t have loud, screechy meows but their purr engines are in excellent condition.

Slightly OT, but I saw a picture at the vet’s office yesterday and realized that Tunch is a Turkish Van cat.

We were at the shelter about 16 years ago looking for a new cat to replace the best cat ever. I saw a couple of good candidates but wifey picked up this silly colored calico and as soon as she did it set to purring like no cat I have ever heard. She fell in love instantly & insisted we take the polka dotted wonder home. Damn thing has not purred once since!

    @bemused:

My brother and his wife are fond of Tonkinese. They don’t really purr but the ‘talk’ incessantly. Its hilarious trying to have a conversation around them.

Round Two of the Apiary Wars is scheduled for 10 a.m. Pacific Time. The King’s new ally, he of the heavy-duty siege-works, will try to crack open the indigenous population’s fortified stronghold deep inside the dark and gloomy, trackless wastes of the front hedge. If he succeeds, the indigenous population will be relocated and a new colony established in the verdant fields of the backyard, where they and their descendants can live happy and productive lives pollinating the Queen’s vegetables and the King’s blueberry bushes.

Is Tunch showing any ambition to run for the White House like Inkblot? I would consider doubling my investment into popcorn futures if that were the case.

    @Shlemizel:
I like talkers too as long as they have something interesting to say. It’s the perpetual yowlers who complain loudly just because they can…remind me too much of Cantor.
Once we came back from vacation and our then normally mellow cat proceeded to bitch us out at the top of her lungs glaring at us for leaving her for a half an hour.
Our kittens have teeny, barely audible meows. Hopefully they will get a little more vocal as they grow older so can find them faster when they sneak into a closet or drawer and we don’t notice. They are faster than the speed of light darting into interesting spaces.

Rugby was the worst of all. They stunk up the entire country of New Zealand. The only thing missing was a takeover of the post-match press conference by John Cleese’s French knight character. Doesn’t help that Wales has suddenly discovered its A game and is a threat to win the whole thing.

John, can we do this again maybe next week? I am moving and can’t find my camera to run a film of MY Buddy — the best Purr champion in the effing WORLD. He is renown in this area for his loud, non-stop purring and even for adding a slight whistle with the purr when he is blissed out.

Please please please —you cannot crown a champion until my Buddy can participate!
