If true that Mueller has impaneled a grand jury, suggests his work is proceeding. All the more impt that Congress protect his independence. https://t.co/40LdzC82Ie

— Adam Schiff (@RepAdamSchiff) August 3, 2017

Our relationship with Russia is at an all-time & very dangerous low. You can thank Congress, the same people that can't even give us HCare!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 3, 2017

We're about to see what happens when a White House that runs on a culture of lying collides with a process where lying means jail time.

— Matthew Miller (@matthewamiller) August 3, 2017

One interesting thing, IMO, is that the Wingnut Wurlitzer grifters are getting agitated. (Kelly telling the WH hangers-on that they need to go through him seems to be an immediate irritant, but for some reason McMaster is getting the blowback.) There’s an old folk belief that you could tell an animal was really, really in poor health when its parasites started abandoning it…

Alex Jones: Donald Trump Jr. was “doing his job … trying to find Russian spies” https://t.co/WDmxSLRVa0

— Media Matters (@mmfa) August 3, 2017

What is this? Does H.R. McMaster need to go? Susan Rice? Omg https://t.co/yvw9thaiah

— Sean Hannity (@seanhannity) August 3, 2017

We are profoundly lucky that 21st century fascists are this paint chip pita stupid pic.twitter.com/yZguBktirK

— Local Milk Steak (@ZeddRebel) August 3, 2017

And then there’s the very model of the modern “Alt-Light” social-media general…

—@Cernovich announces "big, big pivot," says he doesn't "want anyone to think of me as a pro-Trump guy" https://t.co/EdIPAKNboE pic.twitter.com/kHxpJmNT3Y

— Oliver Darcy (@oliverdarcy) August 3, 2017

… Like the proverbial rats that abandon the sinking ship, Cernovich has a history of re-branding himself when it’s expedient in futile attempts to obfuscate his past record of churning out conspiracy theories and racist and misogynistic comments. He went from libertarianism to identifying with the “alt-right,” only to pivot towards the “new right,” a made-up name for a “movement” that is substantially similar to the “alt-right,” but that decided to rebrand after media highlighted the original “alt-righter” Richard Spencer’s white nationalism. Spencer’s views were widely known long before Cernovich hitched his wagon to the “alt-right” though, leaving very little room to question his blatant opportunism. And while he’s — for now — the only one vocally pivoting away from Trump, other trolls have also started to express their frustration…

Gosh, it’s like Cernovich was only in it for the grift!

I guess Mr. Posobiec doesn’t get that grand juries are the way that people get charged with federal crimes. Or he thinks that other people can be fooled. But I’m guessing it’s the first one.

The purpose of the grand jury is to put the squeeze on low level scumbags so that they will give up higher level scumbags. If you look at it day by day, it looks like the prosecutors are concerning themselves with picayune bullshit, and, if the smaller fish keep their mouths shut and even go to jail, that’s what you wind up with – which is why Republican tool Bob Woodward could get away with saying the Plame investigation was a waste of time. Regardless, in any case there is an introductory stage that seems very anticlimactic, and Posobiec is laying the groundwork for saying that this investigation also is a waste of time.

Thanks for the heads up. I think I’ll follow Cernovich and Jones, they have the most entertainment value. Kind of like Robin Williams, Jonathan Winters and Richard Pryor team up for sketch comedy. I’m not sure which is which, they show so much promise, just can’t boil it down to two comics.

The fucking Karma Armadillo is on the prowl. Texas Ammosexuals, watch yer ass

Texas man shoots armadillo, bullet ricochets back into his face
Animal’s status unknown because authorities were unable to find itCass County Sheriff Larry Rowe said the man, who was not identified, went outside his home in Marietta, Texas, at around 3 a.m. local time Thursday morning. He spotted the armadillo on his property and opened fire.
“His wife was in the house. He went outside and took his .38 revolver and shot three times at the armadillo,” Rowe said.

given the time, I’m gonna guess a case or so of Lone Star was involved. Are armadillos notable garden pests? Did he fear for his wife’s safety?

CNN reported today that Carter Page has been under a FISA warrant since 2014.

How is that a guy under a FISA warrant for working with the Russians ends up in the Trump campaign?

How is it that the one retired General who is in the pay of the Russians ends up in the Trump campaign?

How is a lobbyist in the pay of the Russians ends up running the Trump campaign?

    It can’t all be coincidence.

You can’t ignore the feeling that Russia was telling Trump who to hire.

Susan Rice did Benghazi with Talking Points, even before Hillary did it with emails, but after Obama did it with not calling it terrorism. Also, something about a movie. Susan Rice and Benghazi is where Sean Hanntiy and Lindsey Graham learn to love again, the not-so-good Senator has made noise about investigating her. Susan Rice unmasked somebody. That somebody was Michael Flynn, and “unmasking” is a nefarious-sounding term for a legitimate and necessary step people in the O administration took as the Russia investigation unfolds. Lindsey Graham knows this, but he also knows that if the Tea Baggers were willing to primary him (hence his TV ads about Benghazi in IIRC the summer of 2013), the Trump Baggers are dying to do it. And they probably won’t shy away from discussing his personal life. Loudly.

We now have evidence that there might be at least one person in thr Chump administration with some integrity — McMaster. Of course, now that he is on the record as saying that arch-criminal and all-around evil-doer and traitor Susan Rice did nothing wrong, Trump simply must find a way to fire him. The president can’t have anyone tainted by integrity in the administration. It’s just one more bit of evidence that Trump is not a good judge of people.

I can attest from personal experience, (at least with Alain, but I suspect with other front pagers as well), that this is an invaluable tool. If you need it, use it!

I’ll go back to my oh so pleasant late-night reading now.

Sol Wachtler went to prison for harassing his mistress. Before that, he was on the fast track for a SCOTUS seat via Bill Clinton.
Full disclosure : we both went to W&L law.

I only went there undergrad so I’m not implicated in your scandal!

Yet another Texas Tailgunner too anti-nvironmentalist and/or ignorant of government law to know that that is OUR STATE ANIMAL AND THEY’RE ILLEGAL TO KILL AS SUCH.

Yeah, they’re a (royal) pain in the ass as they turn our front & back yards into a Vietnam war field searching for grub worms, but its all good. They’re our #1 roadkill resource for being a slower and more half-deaf/half-blind mammal!

So, is fresh hell breaking loose in the WH tonight, or have they known all along and it’s just your ordinary, quotidian chaos? How long does Kelly last (endure) if the the sh%t blizzard cranks up to a Category 6?

They have no idea WHY, but the conservative hive mind is convinced she’s a dangerous criminal and needs to be jailed or executed immediately. Saying something reasonable about her is grounds for immediate mouth-frothing and threats.

Try this one on the next wingnut you meet

“I think your’ animus to Susan Rice is the result of a deep cosmopolitan bias on your part”

That should get some amusing rants.

With the news that Trump is doing homework to stay on Kelly’s good side, I am developing this theory that Kelly is a stand-in for the father that Trump never managed to impress, and Trump is eager for another chance.

Probably a kind of wishful thinking.

@West of the Rockies (been a while): To be perfectly frank, I am absolutely clueless as to what SFAW is talking about.

For the record: Hamilton Nolan dissed Ryan in both one of Gawker’s “Least Important Writers” installments and an article on a piece Holiday wrote for ThoughtCatalog, albeit in fairly dismissive and unimpressive ways. Irin Carmon, a Jezebel alum targeted in his book Trust Me, I’m Lying, fired back at Ryan in a Salon column, where she called him a cynical Sorkinesque smarmhound and showed factual errors in his account of her Jon Stewart story. In light of these Mr. Holiday brushed off Nolan as a self-interested hater and reflected on Carmon’s response in a mature –

    – wait, no, that’s not what he did. Instead he went on a muiltiyear butthurt campaign against Gawker that had him calling it THE WORSTEST MOST EVILEST JOURNALISTIC OUTFIT EVAH (Rwanda, Hearst and the U.K. say. “Hi,”) and when called out on it by Jake Tapper on Twitter said that at least old-timey yellow-journalist publications gave people JERBS. Which is sub-Trumpian-levels of thin-skinned, but also makes me think that he knows Carmon & Nolan have him dead to rights.

He was also Dov Charney’s PR flack, and wrote arguably the worst Cosby apologia to see light in a major publication not written by James Taranto.

I was always told a Grand Jury is so the prosecutor has to prove there is evidence a crime and not just he getting is jollies harassing people.

I didn’t say otherwise. People just have unrealistic expectations and don’t realize the grand jury isn’t being asked to indict Trump, both because he is immune until impeached (Ken Starr’s analysis was politically motivated and inaccurate) and because that’s not how these things work. And when things roll out in the methodical way I think they will a lot of people will start panicking on one side and mocking on the other.

    Patience.

Since the guy is a complete case study in every psychological dysfunction in existence, daddy issues is definitely one of them. The only way Kelly leaves at this point is if he quits because the manbaby’s insanity is too toxic, and if he quits, it will signal the end of the road for any pretense that Trump can stay president and it’s 25th amendment time.
