Brown (D-OH) is an annual contender for highest Liberal above Replacement Value in terms of the state that he represents. He won fairly easily in Ohio in 2018 when no other Democrat could win statewide in a state that is trending Republican. If he was to be elected President or Vice President, his replacement in the Senate would be a standard issue Republican. That would make achieving any of his policy goals more difficult. Now that he is staying in the Senate through at least 2024, the odds that the marginal Senator is the the left of Senator Collins has increased and that has material policy possibility space expansion.
