Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The most dangerous place for a black man in America is in a white man’s imagination.

You can’t love your country only when you win.

Authoritarian republicans are opposed to freedom for the rest of us.

Sadly, there is no cure for stupid.

Don’t expect peaches from an apple tree.

🎶 Those boots were made for mockin’ 🎵

Second rate reporter says what?

A lot of Dems talk about what the media tells them to talk about. Not helpful.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

“woke” is the new caravan.

Russian mouthpiece, go fuck yourself.

Sitting here in limbo waiting for the dice to roll

Joe Lieberman disappointingly reemerged to remind us that he’s still alive.

It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me.

Putting aside our relentless self-interest because the moral imperative is crystal clear.

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

The republican caucus is already covering themselves with something, and it’s not glory.

I really should read my own blog.

Their freedom requires your slavery.

… riddled with inexplicable and elementary errors of law and fact

Republican obstruction dressed up as bipartisanship. Again.

Republicans seem to think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Ummm…What?

Tucker’s an ex-Fox.

Ummm...What?

There are zero details yet about who did what to whom:  did Murdoch say to Carlson, “you’re fired?” Did Carlson say “you can’t fire me, I quit?”  Did some other billionaire offer the right’s masculinity maven yet more cash?  Is there something about to drop that would have compelled Tucker “to spend more time with his family?”

Is it irresponsible to speculate…

[All together, kids]

IT WOULD BE IRRESPONSIBLE NOT TO!!!!

Have fun in the comments, my fellow jackals.

Dominion and Fox Settle…

Video at 11.*

I’m disappointed on multiple levels–I wanted to see Rupert on the stand being served his own intestines via a cross examination for the ages.

Dominion and Fox Settle...

I wanted to see F**ker Carlson allowed to spin on a spit over coals for hours. I wanted a jury award so large only scientific notation could handle it.  All Imma gonna say at this point is that I look forward to the terms of the settlement and hope that includes a continuous chryon reading “We Are Lying Shits” scrolling without end on every Fox broadcast and feed from now through November 2024 (at the least.)

The thread is, of course, open.

(And yeah–the post is drafted the way it is to evoke this image. You can thank me later.)

*The quaint notion that a news report would be held until some set hour reveals that yes, in fact, I am an old…

He Was Never Going to Buy It

I’m wondering how serious the bids are to unseat Elon at Tesla and SpaceX:

Elon Musk is threatening to pull out of his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter if the company does not provide more information on how it calculates the number of fake accounts.

In a letter delivered to Twitter on Monday and filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Mr. Musk’s lawyers at the law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom argued that Twitter was “actively resisting and thwarting” Mr. Musk’s rights under the terms of his deal to acquire the social media company. His lawyers accused Twitter of a “clear material breach” of its obligations and said that Mr. Musk had the right to break off the agreement as a result.

The letter said Mr. Musk had “repeatedly” requested more information about how Twitter measured spam and fake accounts on its platform and that he had “made it clear that he does not believe the company’s lax testing methodologies are adequate so he must conduct his own analysis.”

He must be an absolute nightmare as a boss.
