Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

He wakes up lying, and he lies all day.

If you thought you’d already seen people saying the stupidest things possible on the internet, prepare yourselves.

Republicans cannot even be trusted with their own money.

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

Do we throw up our hands or do we roll up our sleeves? (hint, door #2)

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

Republicans don’t lie to be believed, they lie to be repeated.

They want us to be overwhelmed and exhausted. Focus. Resist. Oppose.

Republican also-rans: four mules fighting over a turnip.

We are aware of all internet traditions.

We need to vote them all out and restore sane Democratic government.

Every reporter and pundit should have to declare if they ever vacationed with a billionaire.

Not so fun when the rabbit gets the gun, is it?

They punch you in the face and then start crying because their fist hurts.

Optimism opens the door to great things.

Seems like a complicated subject, have you tried yelling at it?

“Alexa, change the president.”

I’m more christian than these people and i’m an atheist.

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Hey Washington Post, “Democracy Dies in Darkness” was supposed to be a warning, not a mission statement.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

I might just take the rest of the day off and do even more nothing than usual.

Nothing worth doing is easy.

Pre-Enlightenment nation

I’m guessing this high-school is a feeder for Regent U:

T-shirts worn by the Smith-Cotton High School band have evolved into controversy among parents.

The shirts, which were designed to promote the band’s fall program, are light gray and feature an image of a monkey progressing through stages and eventually emerging as a man. Each figure holds a brass instrument. Several instruments decorate the background and the words “Smith-Cotton High School Tiger Pride Marching Band” and “Brass Evolutions 2009” are emblazoned above and below the image.

[….]

“I was disappointed with the image on the shirt.” Melby said. “I don’t think evolution should be associated with our school.”

I find it increasingly difficult to believe we will maintain first-world status for much longer.

It’s just a matter of time

Right now, it’s still okay for journalists to make fun of Glenn Beck. But if he keeps his ratings up for much longer, it won’t be. BriWi will be calling into his show and saying that Beck has actually yet to get the credit he is due, comedians will be censured for making fun of him, Republican office-holders will have to apologize to him regularly, Mark Halperin will appear on his show (whoops, that already happened), Joe Klein will start comparing him to Glenn Greenwald.

It’s just a matter of time.
