Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The republican caucus is covering themselves with something, and it is not glory.

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

Following reporting rules is only for the little people, apparently.

In my day, never was longer.

The only way through is to slog through the muck one step at at time.

Let the trolls come, and then ignore them. that’s the worst thing you can do to a troll.

I might just take the rest of the day off and do even more nothing than usual.

President Musk and Trump are both poorly raised, coddled 8 year old boys.

Giving up is unforgivable.

The poor and middle-class pay taxes, the rich pay accountants, the wealthy pay politicians.

Well, whatever it is, it’s better than being a Republican.

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

Weird. Rome has an American Pope and America has a Russian President.

Be a wild strawberry.

The worst democrat is better than the best republican.

Republicans: The threats are dire, but my tickets are non-refundable!

We do not need to pander to people who do not like what we stand for.

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

Hey hey, RFK, how many kids did you kill today?

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

Michigan is a great lesson for Dems everywhere: when you have power…use it!

Give the craziest people you know everything they want and hope they don’t ask for more? Great plan.

The most dangerous place for a black man in America is in a white man’s imagination.

The low info voters probably won’t even notice or remember by their next lap around the goldfish bowl.

From Clusterstock:

Dallas News: A Washington veteran with experience in media, politics and diplomacy will take over the most controversial arm of George W. Bush’s presidential library – the policy institute that some SMU faculty members and Methodist leaders did not want.

Over lunch this week in Dallas, Bush offered former White House official James K. Glassman the opportunity to run the think tank that the former president has described as a place to foster debate on democracy, education and other global concerns.

Glassman co-authored Dow 36,000.

I sort of hate weekends ending with serious posts, so I am throwing up this new post for light banter. Take that, DougJ! Also, this:

lick

Right now I’m listening to the 9/2/2009 episode of this radio show, which one of you all hosts. A nice eclectic mix. Also have Altered Carbon open, but have not had made much progress, and am chatting with folks.

This is your final open thread for the night. Let the youtube wars begin.

I’m seriously just sick of lunatics. I really am. I simply can not believe people are freaking out over Obama addressing schoolchildren. As unhinged as I thought some on the left were in the early Bush years, they have nothing on the right-wing noise machine. They’ll just say or do anything. They have no shame. And I’m sick of reading “respectable” Republicans who fail to call their own party out on this crap. They sit by and feed this nonsense, but I’m supposed to get my knickers in a twist because a liberal blogger said the “f” word of Van Jones called Republicans “assholes?”

Can we just start the civil war now so it might be over by the 2012 election?

More of This, Please

Someone not named Taibbi went on television and told the truth. I’m kind of shocked:

This can not be stated enough, and we now have Tapper and Harwood on record that this is nonsense. The rest of the media is still in he-said/she-said mode.

For a while, I’ve been trying to come up with three questions that you could ask anyone and determine if they were a wingnut. Up until now, the list was:

1.) Did we find WMD in Iraq?
2.) How old is the earth?
3.) Was Obama born in the United States?

I may have to add “Is it a bad thing if the President tells school kids to study hard?”
